Arena mode is lots of fun. Playing medic on Arena is tons of fun. What I've found:
- Every team needs one medic, unless you have over 6 people total, then you need two.
- Overhealing is absolutely critical in this mode. As a medic, sticking to one guy is exactly what you should not be doing (that goes for all modes you selfish medics, but doubly so in Arena) unless you're pinned down/split from the group.
- The team should split into two in the beginning with a medic on each side if applicable and then regroup about 30-45 seconds in.
- Stick together.
I've played lots of team DM in various games, but it's never felt so much like "teamwork" as it does in this one, because TF2 isn't hyperactive like Quake/Unreal/etc so it makes sauntering off on your own really dangerous.

I like the sound the new gun makes. How long does the speed debuff last (after the last shot assuming)?
Hopefully like 3 or so seconds.
Instantly.
For which I'm fucking grateful.
It's more like a knockback that hits you very slightly against the direction you were running. Once you are out its gone. It basically traps them while the heavy is focused on them and then once they do get in cover they zoom up to full speed.
I have gone from frightened little baby to expanding levels of confidence for valves skill at game making that breaks my previous optimism heights.
Oh yeah, why did I doubt you Valve. Amen.

so natascha doesn't seem very good. The slowdown seems too small for me to notice, but the reduced damage is definitely noticeable and annoying.
I dunno, I got caught in Natascha's line of sight as a scout and fuck did I feel the slowdown. It made me slow enough for the 100% speed classes to bumrush me.

Well yeah its a 25% debuff so the faster the class is the more it is noticeable.
Man, it's always cool to see all the servers full for a extended period of time.

There is nothing more glorious than being the only one left alive on a point with all the enemies dead and your guys too with like ten health, then snacking on a sandvich in time for both teams to get back.
Or jumping into cover, snacking on the sandvich, and jumping out.
It gets me in trouble too though. I sometimes snack in the wrong places.
Basically, playing heavy for me now is determining the most efficient snack locations.

Anyone know how to make voice chat louder? I put my game volume down almost all the way, my mic receive all the way up, and my speakers cranked all the way, but STILL not loud enough to hear people.
Its even more beautiful than I could've imagined. I'm healing a Heavy, and he kills guy after guy after guy. And then he dies, and I'm sad. But then theres another Heavy running up to me, asking for heals. And I heal him and he kills guy after guy after guy, and I hit uber and he kills everyone. And the kritzkreig charges so damn fast now. The uber is still needed for certain parts, but the Kritz is now good for everything but Offense on offense/defense only maps.
Thank you Valve.
Heavies critting has always been winbutan. Except for over massive range, each crit bullet does over 100 damage. Two hits will kill anything that's not overhealed (other than a heavy), and three hits will kill anything (except an overhealed heavy).
Aside from the instability, this patch is amazing. Sandvich is the greatest thing ever, the KGB looks hilarious(and I shall have many drunk boxing nights to the dismay of many), and even the damn kritz seems to have moved into useful territory.
Didn't get too much arena in before crash. Seems alright, I guess. Sitting out blows... I wonder if it's possible to have an "internal second server" for each server that splits for arena maps while the server is near full to have two simultaneous games of 6v6. Then rejoining them becomes an issue--SHIT!
And before anyone hops down my throat about not being able to wait a couple of minutes, I must confess that I log in to actually play the game. That is why I must hunt for a solution! Meh. No biggie, I s'pose.

I have found the wait times to be very tolerable so far, especially compared to something like Counterstrike where the game becomes glacial when 1 person is left on each team. Plus, TF2 is simply more fun to watch.
At least there are new non-Arena maps to enjoy, plus the Heavy unlocks.
Having fun on the arena server pretty much requires that you actively spectate and chat with the other guys. I don't think it's a good serious business gametype, but if you're in the mood it works well. It's not counterstrike, but it is team fortress.
We shall all enjoy what we will and bask in the glory of the sandvich, any which way. Was there really a change to the kritz charge time?
- Speccing
- Sitting out
- x vs x where x is not half the number of people on the server
you sohuld add - Getting stabbed by a spy that walked up right up to you that may or may not have BEEN DISGUISED AS YOU AND YOU'RE THE ONLY PERSON LEFT ON YOUR TEAM
Arena just needs an option to disable spectating so it always fill both teams regardless of server size and even if one of them has an extra.
Also, arena admins, please set the win limit to 2 and do not change maps every 3 points(ffs HonC)
Limed for truth, purple for "I dunno..." Not spectating sounds great but I'm not sure how the arena maps would hold up 12 v 12 or larger. Has anyone played with that many people? I was on HoNC all night and it topped at 8 v 8.
Also, I am happy. Up until now I haven't really paid attention to the achievements and I thought that the original articles about the medic achievements were true: that the milestones were at 1/3, 2/3 and 100% of the achievements in that character pack. Man am I glad that that's wrong or there's no way I would see most of these weapons. Just unlocked the Blutsaugher tonight - it's great for what I thought it would be great for, which is killing a pyro charging straight at you.

I never asked for this!
Hooray! I am in pictures!
Also, I installed the latest nVidia drivers, and it hasn't thrown an error since. For anyone else seeing the game crashing, you might try it.
GOOD TIMES

I started that if you are referring to the dustbowl map.
Just so you know.

GET BEHIND ME DOCTOR
just unstable tf2 = notgood.
Does seem kinda shitty though. When I'm spun up and actually firing, I need what I'm shooting at to die. The faster the better.
Slowing the guy down is great and all, if they're running away, and for Pyros.
Otherwise it seems less useful than the standard gun.
In a support capacity it's decent. Allows others to catch up to and be more accurate against enemies...
Time will tell I guess, but I'm somewhat disappointed.
I like the sandwich though.
Gloves are great when luck and a tightly packed enemy team are present.
So much fun, and so funny during spectator mode. And Natascha? Beautiful weapon. Makes Pyros cry.

For three or four days. Then I can get back to harassing people with fire and taunting over players I haven't even killed. :P
Yeah it's cool watching the servers when they are full because you sure as hell can't JOIN THEM WHEN THEY ARE :x
