Arena just needs an option to disable spectating so it always fill both teams regardless of server size and even if one of them has an extra.
Also, arena admins, please set the win limit to 2 and do not change maps every 3 points(ffs HonC)
Limed for truth, purple for "I dunno..." Not spectating sounds great but I'm not sure how the arena maps would hold up 12 v 12 or larger. Has anyone played with that many people? I was on HoNC all night and it topped at 8 v 8.
Also, I am happy. Up until now I haven't really paid attention to the achievements and I thought that the original articles about the medic achievements were true: that the milestones were at 1/3, 2/3 and 100% of the achievements in that character pack. Man am I glad that that's wrong or there's no way I would see most of these weapons. Just unlocked the Blutsaugher tonight - it's great for what I thought it would be great for, which is killing a pyro charging straight at you.
I've killed heavies with this gun, by arcing it around cover or just straight out strafing wildly while blasting them at point blank.
I could escape a Zerg rush with this gun when I'm on a good day. It is the best medic gun.

It's probably because I never got used to the health boost it gave. Let's be honest, before the update most Medics (with the exception of maybe Luny) went down like dominoes at close range. They're supposed to run and perhaps come back around the corner with a Heavy in tow, not sap away your health and bonesaw you across the map.

Hey, you have your reduced fall off now. You are actually dangerous. I used to be able to charge across a pyros line of sight and ninja bonesaw them and win most of the time. So I think it's fairly balanced now, if I'm in the fire, I die regardless of what gun I'm using.

Where the hell is Luny anyway? Steam says he hasn't been on for 92 days.

Oh fuck that's right. I totally forgot. Thank you.
oh no 6 people have to watch for 60 seconds a bloo bloo bloo
I think the best solution is (between Jon and Job) have one server without arena and one with it, for people that don't like to play the games they've purchased. EDIT: Meaning spectating, not change. /EDIT
That or just allow 12v12 on at least one of them. That'd be better, actually!
And just as a little note, the CP opens up after 60 seconds and caps slower than some of us were expecting. Add that on to the last round, where you died halfway through(on average), and this will happen every other time(once again, on average), and you're sitting out quite a bit during an arena map.
I agree, the blut is much better than the standard syringe gun. I've had crit needles help me out of a pinch, but maybe once, twice tops. The blut is ridiculously useful the way it plays into medic strategy (run if you have to and heal yourself off of your chasing enemies).
I'm not so amped about the kritz though. I don't think anything can really substitute for an uber. So what's the deal, the kritz charges 25% faster than the regular medigun, is that right? Does the kritz heal as fast as the medigun?
EDIT: And yes, the CPs in arena cap much too slowly. If five people are standing on it, it should cap within 2 or 3 seconds. This would put a smashing fast end to stupid last-man turtling and create a massive battle over the CP if teams of any size are left after 60 seconds.

The standard gun and saw need some kind of change. These very weak negatives don't make up for the fact that the unlocks help the Medic survive to build charges WAY more. A 20% faster melee swing is kinda nice, but I generally only melee to finish someone off. It's not as lopsided as the Blut, however. A chance to do more damage is never going to compare to emergency healing. In many cases I can fire a volley into the fray for a good chunk of health back. Some people have toyed with having the base Syringe Gun grant the innate HP regen the Medic has, and up the Blut's leech to compensate, but it needs something.

The KK charges faster and has a different charge. Having a heavy, soldier or demo ambush the other team with 100% crit is insane. It also forces other medics to pop their ubers. You might die, but you wasted their uber and you'll get yours back faster.
It really shines in Arena, where living long enough to get a normal charge can be rare. But I generally always manage a krit charge in arena games, and just about any class is a threat with 100% crit in that mode.

It would be hard to have larger than a 12 on 12 with a 24 player limit.

I think it's strange that the Blut has zero downsides to it.
The Blut isn't overpowered, its just better than the regular needlegun. Simply: Guaranteed buff is always better than a chance buff. The needlegun needs to do something else that separates it from the blut, kind of like how the flamethrower/backburner thing was split up.
Anyone know how to make voice chat louder? I put my game volume down almost all the way, my mic receive all the way up, and my speakers cranked all the way, but STILL not loud enough to hear people.
The blut should be altered to a +2 leech instead of +3, and see how that goes in comparison to the needlegun. The blut will probably still be picked over the needlegun in all cases, but at least medics aren't walking away with full health after a fight.
I always thought the the regular needles should have had a slowing effect, of course that was back when Valve said they'd never implement that sort of thing, and it isn't something that should be spread among more than one class.

I really think the best way is to just give it the regen. Increase the Blut's leech a tad to make up for it if it's needed. A lot of people don't notice it, but the regen is pretty damn useful.
How about just nerfing the amount of damage the blut does?

When I used to use the needle gun before the blut came out, the constant crit buff I'd get from healing people all the time meant that quite often I'd get a shitload of kills from it. I've defended a point with it, simply by getting a crit on a demo man so that he retreated instead of killing me.
With theblut he'd just keep coming and probably kill me first.
The regular needle gun on crit does 40 per needle. That's a shitload. I remember on well killing three people coming up the stairs on the second point in a row just because I got a crit streak.
Nothing wrong with the gun or the saw. I've died multiple times where one more saw would have saved my whole uber.
The trick with these things is its impossible to see the downside because you assume you would die with the other weapons anyway, so don't take it into account. The thing is though, if you kill the other guy, that's the end of the damage. Period. They save you by killing people. You can't uber when you are dead.
When I first came back to medic I used the bonesaw for a while until I learnt to swing again.
I'm also much more likely to use the saw than the ubersaw in arena mode. It's too fast paced and death is permanent.

Of course the needle gun is better when it's critting. The problem is that even with the crit buff from healing that's still the minority of the time and I don't think it's at all worth it considering how damn good the health leech is.
I'm not so amped about the kritz though. I don't think anything can really substitute for an uber. So what's the deal, the kritz charges 25% faster than the regular medigun, is that right? Does the kritz heal as fast as the medigun?
Uber =/= Kritz. But both heal just as fast as each other, yes.
The Ubercharge is the end all button. You right click, and you and whoever you decide to heal are pretty much gods. There is no better way to take down a sentry than an Ubercharge. However... Ubercharges takes a while to charge up. It makes them "rare", and they should be saved to bust out when you find a group of enemies that just won't die to normal methods.
The Kritzkreig doesn't work the same way. I don't save them for the best moment. Lets say I'm healing a Soldier and we're running to the next point on Well. We run into a Demo and a Heavy. This is a pretty even fight if both teams use cover, it will just take some time. Now using an Uber here is kinda stupid... it would be much more useful when we get to the point, to deal with whatever is there. The Kritz, however, I would use in a heartbeat.
Its not that the Soldier needed it like you sometimes need an Uber, but I use the Kritz to tilt the odds and speed up our team's progress. The faster charge rate makes it something I can use pretty damn often to see the results. There have been games where I just didn't need to use the Uber until a very tough spot, and I could've used the Kritz 2-3 times along the way.

Most of the early unlockables have a clear winner in terms of usefulness though.
Blut....blut.
Flaregun...shotgun.
Boxing gloves...boxing gloves, despite pow!
There's a clear winner in each case.
Wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the first unlockables follow this rule.
