Variant cover for the first issue of BftC.
I bet the other covers will have Jason and Tim in similar poses with the bat suits from the teaser image. Although Jason already has GunBat suit on the regular cover, so maybe the positions will be reversed.

oh also, i was rereading batman and son, and realized that the panel at the end of RIP of nightwing holding batman's cowl while looking at the firey wreckage of the chopper in the water is mirrored by the panel at the end of batman and son where batman is holding damien's cowl while looking at the firey wreckage of the boat in the water.
resulting theory= new batman will be dick, new robin will be damien.
Does a non Wayne Batman even need a Robin? Isn't Robin there to un-grim him a bit and give him some perspective?
Plus Robin sucks, this is established in the people who matter V Robin case of 2001.
Seriously, who whacked you with the moron stick?

He does have a point about what Robin's role in Batman stories has usually been. If Damien becomes the new Robin, we'll actually be seeing a role reversal of sorts with Robin being the less sociable and more aggressive figure in the partnership.
This is assuming, of course, that Dick is going to change the Batman persona rather than letting the persona change him.

Are we still sure it's going to be Dick? I mean, he seems exactly the same, but Robin has been getting darker and darker for a few years now. After RIP he kinda went off the darkness deep end.

I like how both Nightwing and Robin have set up either characters as a good choice for the cowl. In Nightwing we see a parallel journey of Dick and Bruce, having to avenge their families. In Tim we see the reflection of the need that Bruce has to protect his city by any means necessary.
I'm pretty sure the new Batman will be Dick. I know it was only a possible future, but in 666 Damian says "I knew I would never be as good as my father or Dick Grayson but blah blah blah" something like that.

At first I thought the half with Batman was Dick in the costume, but then I noticed how weird the length of the arms match up. Then I noticed that the shoulders, the muscles etc don't match up...
It's cool, but kind of a shame - it would have been cool to see each of these variant covers as a hint of what they would look like actually wearing the costume. Even some different takes on the bat costume would be cool.

Tim has gone through a lot of shit since he first put on the costume. I am totally unsurprised that he is darkened up as much as he has.
Mother killed and father paralyzed by the Obah man (sp)
Plauged by Ras al'gul (yeah, I can't spell)... but he got better.
And then the walls came tumbling down (Aftershock, No Man's Land)
Best friend (Superboy) died.
Impulse finally gets his act together, takes on the Flash name, and dies.
Gets a girlfriend, Stephanie Brown; she is killed by Black Mask (but not really!)
Oh, Dad was killed too during the gang wars.
And more recently..
Batman disappears shortly after the bat-group returns to Gotham after a 1 year Hiatus, and now the police force is riddled with corruption again and everyone in Gotham has lost the fear of the Bat. More gang wars are brewing, and the Spoiler nearly gets them both killed just trying to follow Batman's instructions.
Yeah, he is pretty dark now. Color me surprised.

...and when you are done with that; take a folding
chair to Creation and then suplex the Void.
Part of the problem with Tim and Dick is that neither one of them are assholes. Bruce Wayne is mean. There are plenty of examples of Batman being mean, but one of my favorites is the interrogation scene in Dark Knight. Where he's beating the hell out of Joker. Batman is an asshole. Tim and Dick are neither one mean enough for the job. At least, not the same job.
Whoever dons the cowl is gonna be a much different Batman than Bruce Wayne.
In a shocking twist, Midnighter actually crosses through the Bleed and becomes Batman. The following day, headlines read, "Extra! Extra! Batwoman and Batman gay! Years of homoerotic Robin jokes finally validated!"

With how news headlines go now, it'd probably read something like "DC'S FIRST HOMOSEXUAL MALE CHARACTER EVER IN THE HISTORY OF COMICS DONS THE COWL!"
Yeah... I think Tim and Damien would be the best combo.
Considering they hate each other.

They were talking about the difference in the opinions of the various people during Battle of the Cowl. It could just be bullshit, but they said that Dick believes that Batman should end with Bruce, whereas Tim believes that Gotham needs Batman, with or without Bruce. Dick's been Batman before, doesn't like what he had to do and become to successfully be Batman.
So, I guess the options are:
- Dick becomes Batman wholeheartedly and the interview was bullshit.
- Dick becomes Batman reluctantly, but with full intention of ending Batman.
- Dick doesn't become Batman because he believes Batman is Bruce.
I want to see Dick as Batman again, I really do. But I also like the potential stories if he doesn't and someone else does.

Who was interviewed? I don't intend on going to IGN because it's a pretty big hassle to get videos or images to work properly on their site. I'd find it weird that Dick would suddenly not want to become Batman because of what it does to you, when he's already been acting very Batman-ish in his solo series. It wouldn't be the first time in the last few months that DC's left hand didn't know what its right hand was doing (despite them both being Batman books and having the same editor).
I still find the idea of Damien becoming Robin dumb, he's just going to be Jason Todd v2 (except more of a little shit).
Anyway, I picked up Batman RIP yesterday and have read through most of it. I liked the original story but it's so much better in trade form (though I really wish they'd included the FC tie-ins in the FC trade).
Does a non Wayne Batman even need a Robin? Isn't Robin there to un-grim him a bit and give him some perspective?
Because it's a legacy. Because Tim has shown that if there is no Robin, some kid will dress up as Robin just to prove a point.
Also, since they have the whole "Batman's last wishes" thing going on in the books, Bruce could have asked Tim and Dick to put Damien on the right path.

Well, Bruce didn't want any of them becoming Batman, so that seems a bit moot now.
In the comics, she's always had kind of a contentious relationship with Bruce. He never approved of her being Batgirl, at least openly, and as Oracle she's butted heads with him a few times.

I predict that
The newly minted emo-Tim will seize the cowl, Dick will put him in his place, and become Batman reluctantly because it is the right thing to do. Tim may become Red Robin, and Damien will probably be Dick's Robin.
I mean, we have to remember that Batman is still Grant Morrison's, and the threads set up in his run really seem to indicate that
Dick will become Batman (look at that splash page in the last issue of R.I.P.).
I could be wrong, of course, but this seems most logical to me.

No, he means that if Dick became Batman, then Babs would therefore be having sex with Batman. I can't remember if Dick is currently with Babs, Kory, or what.

Has anyone remarked in this thread about how creepy the covers to the Oracle mini are
Seeing as it looks like she's going to be put back in a batsuit, I think the whole thing stinks. Also, those covers have a lot of cleavage. Babs has been taking fashion tips from Power Girl.
