this game is like everything I ever wanted out of GTA without all the silly restrictions.
if your main character has a massive arsenal, he should have suitable opponents, and there should be nothing stopping him from blowing the fuck out of whatever he wants to blow up. except maybe prudence. and the solution to an imprudent target is even more explosives.
i find nothing more fun than dropping artillery on the enemy's defensive position and then rushing in and pistol whipping the survivors to death.

Theres a new vid out of some of the new stuff in that announced patch -
At least she was less annoying that the janitor douchebag in dead rising. Plus if you are getting annoyed it's easily remedied by blowing up some people/vehicles/buildings with a fuel air rpg (which is in the running for best weapon ever)
So what are the super weapons you get from each faction?
I don't even know which factions are in. So far I've encountered the VZ, UP, PLAV and the Chinese.
If you see a Chinese soldier with an LMG, KILL HIM AND TAKE IT. They have the best bullet based weapon in the game. Every other gun is a joke compared to the Chinese Automatic Rifle.

Yeah, that gun is great. Can you even unlock the Chinese automatic rifle in a shop? I looked through it and couldn't find one.
So one of m HVT's jumped off a rock to his own death simply by the sight of me.
Please dear god tell me I can do something to bring him back. I just managed to beat the freaking main game.

Save (if needed), quit and reload your game. He'll be alive again.
I'm assuming you didn't verify him after he killed himself here.
Jesus H Christ - how do you beat the Rum running missions - I've literally beaten every other side mission in the game, captured all the HVT's ect... but I can't beat the 2nd level of the rum mission - I get a rocket up my ass that kills the truck I'm in in one hit no matter which way I go.
I tend to stay wide as much as possible, there are alot of moments where something blows up in the middle of the road. Also you don't really need to go speeding all over the place. It also helps if the UP is your ally at the time, they fire on you if you're disguised but if you honk they cease firing. It helps too if you can avoid pissing them off at the beginning. I usually just ride the waverunner off a ramp into the garage and start driving the truck away without engaging them.

I finally got it - there is a part where you go near the air port and you can get a helo on you if you aren't careful. Also, honking doesn't stop UP from shooting you that I found, but there are allies around too, and honking will get them off your back.
Bought this game on Thursday and played through it over the weekend, I have to say I'm very unimpressed, the game was fun in parts but I had no idea when you guys were talking about bugs that you meant game destroying ones. The pure amount of crap that was bugging out on my game was a disgrace, how can EA release this kind of thing and call it finished. I really wonder how or if they tested it.
The worst bug for me was the fact that enemies just stopped attacking me, they could throw nades, but that's it. Even after I reset, which initially fixed it, the bug returned. Really sapped the fun out of it.
Add to this the fact that when I blew up the oil platforms the containers would still be left floating in air.
I could walk through some building without even realising I did so and then get blocked by invisible walls.
Helicopters that were delivering containers would dissapear leaving the containers floating by themselves in the sky.
In some parts, random cars, driving next to me would just go shooting upwards into oblivion for no reason.
There is more but you all seem to have similar experiences yourselves. I enjoyed the parts that worked but they were few and far between. Fair play to anyone that can still enjoy this obviously broken, unfinished game.

The worst I've had to deal with was the helicopter disappearing thing. I think this is a common bug. The worst was when I'd order a helicopter. Ewan would deliver it, and right after he landed it and got out, it would despawn before my eyes. It would just fade out!
Sounds like you had to deal with a lot worse stuff than that, though. My experience was a bit more bug-free, and I ended up enjoying it a lot.
Xbox version of the fix should be out today i believe. ps3 version next monday
Curses!
I want it nooooow. (PS3)
I've run into a few bugs (usually Ewan delivering stuff problems) but the core game play has been fun enough for me to overlook them. I would imagine if I'd run into any of the gamebreaking bugs I probably wouldn't be as forgiving though.
I've basically relegated this to a Christmas purchase. Was really excited about it at the beginning of the year but I'm kind of glad I dodged it in September. Will happily play it once some of the major kinks have been sorted out as it sounds like fun, but I would like to play it through the first time in some sort of completed form.
I kind of lost the will to play this when while my Xbox was away at MS for de-ringing, now that I finished NG2 I need a game to keep me going till gears, hopefully that and the patch will help me get back into it, I had a lot of fun before but I kinda loose interest in sandbox games if I put them down for to long.

Actually I got that bug as well, when I'd call for a resource pickup, mainly fuel, he would hover above the fuel for a few minutes and slowly vanish meaning I would have to call him back till I had the fuel.
He dissapears in the same way objects in the distance phase into existence. The way they did that is another pet hate, objects come into your field of vision by appearing in a series of black dots instead of just fading the objects in gradually, makes it really noticeable and crappy looking.
I have to stop grumbling about the game though, I'll just cut my losses and trade it in.

I think the two worst bugs I've encountered are inconsistently spawning vehicles and the C4/grenade glitch.
For the inconsistent spawns, it's weird to say the least. I call for the vehicle drop, Ewan brings it in, then flies away. I turn away to look at something... and the vehicle just disappears. I scratch my head and order the same vehicle again. This time, when the second vehicle arrives, the first pops up out of nowhere. Not so bad when you've got a ton of cash to throw around, but a huge pain when buying a couple Diplomat tanks is a significant investment.
The C4/grenade glitch makes it so you are completely unable to throw C4 or grenades. Saving and reloading doesn't get around it and as far as I know it never goes away. The only way I know of to get rid of it is to start a completely new game. I was lucky enough to only lose about an hour of play time, but if somebody encountered this late in the game I could easily understand somebody swearing off the game entirely.

I've run across that second one before, but it was fixed with a system restart (xbox360 version).
My favorite bug, though, is harmless. When you are using a motorcycle then enter an outpost, when you come back out the motorcycle wheels are sometimes partially submerged. When you interact with it, it jumps high in the air and then lands perfectly fine. It amuses me.

I also had the C4/grenade glitch, while playing co-op. My buddy, who was hosting, went into an outpost to get a mission and when we came out, the glitch was cleared up. Next time it happens, try entering and exiting an outpost and see what happens.

It's an irritant.
it is not serious in any way.
I don't even know which factions are in. So far I've encountered the VZ, UP, PLAV and the Chinese.
UP - Rogue Assassin Chopper : Super nimble, one of the fastests, rockets and AT and Minigun.
PLAV - Daisy Cutter Bomb and the various Castro Helicopters are all winsauce.
Pirates - The Condor gigantic fucking chopper. Airlift anything the game. It can pick up missile boats.
Chinese - Fuel Air Bomb / Fuel Air RPG. Rocket Artillery Strike.
AN - MoaB Bomb, Bunker Busters
PMC - Nuclear Bunker Buster, Panzercycle, Scorcher.
Was anyone else dissapointed with the MoaB? I found the FAB much more effective.
Are you talking about the Total Payback update? If so, it's October 13 for 360 and for October 20 for PS3.
You can get him in the first 20 minutes if you follow the quest chain from the Irish dude.
Please dear god tell me I can do something to bring him back.

Thank you, Pandemic.
Oh god I've dropped so many fuel air bombs on her.
