Duke Nukem 3D for Xbox LIVE Arcade
We've been asked about this for a long time, we've had fans pleading with us for some sort of announcement or information. Well, today is the day!
We're very pleased to announce that "Duke Nukem 3D for Xbox LIVE Arcade" will be coming to your Xbox 360 console soon!
As has been reported
around the net today, we can confirm that the game has indeed passed final certification with Microsoft on Friday the 15th of August (on our first try, no less). That means the game is done - it is now in the hands of Microsoft. At this time we cannot give you details on release date or points cost, as we do not have that information. There's plenty of really cool stuff in this new update to a classic title. While we're not quite ready to divulge everything yet, we can tell you this.
There is a preview available now in the October 2008 issue of the Official Xbox Magazine. This issue of the magazine is hitting subscribers' mailboxes starting today, and will be available on newsstands in a few days. Some of the folks from the Official Xbox Magazine have been playing it, and have written up a preview about the game and their thoughts on the game, having played it. You definitely won't want to miss that.
Look for online previews of the game to start appearing on August 26th. We're really excited about this release - and we hope you will be too! More info on the way - stay tuned!

I really hope it's next month sometime
but it's all good, I will be buying this on the first day.
Now when can we get Doom 2?
Achiements mention getting x ammount of kills in multiplayer. I would assume it's online.
I will buy the hell out of this the day it is released.
Anyone that posts that trailer will get punched in the junk.
What trailer? This trailer?
The original game had Co-op. This is awesome news.
Wait a sec... that means they're actually publishing a game. Universe explode?

I'm crossing fingers, toes and penises for splitscreen co-op.
First of all, previews for this won't happen until the 26th, guess everyone has to wait to post things until the official XBox magazine hits shelves, but on the 26th IGN and others will have more info.
From things mentioned by George and Joe on the forums this is what I have gathered/assumed.
There will be level "time-trial" leaderboards
Auto-aim is going to be always on, no toggle (From what I remember the original game was like this.)
At least single player wise it will be the Atomic Edition... nothing has been mentioned if Duke-Tag and the other multiplayer enhancements added with the plutonium pack are going to be included (I assume it will be though.) The reason this is known, is because Joe said that he could do a speed run from the first level through The Queen in 2.5 hours. (somebody talking about achievments was saying it should only take an hour to go through the entire game).
The graphics aren't going to be super improved like Marathon.. not sure if it will play full screen, or if it will have the cropping bars like Doom.
From what I gathered, the port was done internally at 3drealms, and all the work needed to be done took place within the past year.
There are a lot of questions people were asking, but George kept on saying wait till the 26th.
Nothing was mentioned if any of the console port improvements are going to be in there. (3d engine from the Saturn version, or 3d explosions and the final boss from the N64 version)
Nothing would be said about any other enhancements, the dev's even posted the Joystic/kotaku news items about the rewind feature instead of saying it themselves.
Nothing was said about how many could play over live for Dukematch, but the assumption is 8.
Oh, and you can't play with the message keyboard attatchment (Someone wondered if they could :P)
Anyways, I hope a lot of these helped with pressing questions. Hopefully this will sell well, and maybe push for even more classic FPS games to be released. Personally I am REALLY hoping for Blood and Dark Forces(Especially if they include the unpublished multiplayer stuff they had running after release)

Well, they can't exactly take the work done by the community, but there is a high-res texture pack for the PC original that was put together by the mod community. And so combined with the source port, you can at least play it on the PC in high definition resolution with high definition textures.
But I doubt the XBLA game will have hi def textures. But I would expect them to at least support high definition resolution.
That said, even the original game's graphics hold up extremely well today. So it wouldn't be so bad if it was a straight port supporting 720p or 1080p or whatever.

I once filled up an entire bathroom full of pipe bombs, then ran into a control room to watch it on a closed-circuit TV.
I watched my buddy run into the room, turning on the light, and then I imagined the horrified look on his face as he realized what was happening, surrounded by pipe bombs.
Then I pressed the pipe bomb switch.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM.
Single best MP moment, ever.
8 Player co-op and Dukematch
Recordable and uploadable user gameplay clips
Vision-camera support for multiplayer lobbies
And uhh "Tivo. Yes, when you die, you can rewind as far back in the level as you like, be it five seconds or five minutes."
So, the big plot twist is that Duke Nukem is actually the descendant of Prince of Persia? Awesome!
I never asked for this!
This is MS we are talking about, it's NOT going to happen, they don't support custom content. Remember Unreal Tournament 3?
Custom levels work really well on the PC, but with Duke all the steps you need to take to make a level are a bit too complex to include on a 360 game. Yes, level making isn't that difficult, but a lot of stuff needed lots of knowledge of the controls, understanding of how the system works (like making multiple levels, underwater areas, elevators, lights, etc). Halo 3's system works for Halo 3, but its just more customizing of item and "furniture" locations.
Time Splitters 2 had a pretty decent system, but it was just placing different sections of rooms and corridors together.
While having the custom ability would be a cool feature, it would be a very stale compared to the original build editor.

I'd never seen that before... was that really what they showed at E3? Man they loves to shit on them some days.
What is this "auto-aiming" you speak of?
I don't recall the original having auto aim -- though now that I think of it the Doom years had that wierd quasi auto aim where your bullets magically went leftish or rightish because of the innaccuracy of the system itself. If this what they mean?

Braid Nukem 3D?
I never asked for this!
Braid spoilers, do not click if you haven't beaten it (no, really, I mean it):
It's sad to think that in my mind all those years ago, the first one looked like the second one actually does.

That's not what the 360 version is going to look like, it's just a screen from the HD mod.
No, I'm pretty sure you rewind gameplay then keep playing.
