THEY’VE COME FOR BRAINS, YOU’LL GIVE THEM BULLETS
The House of the Dead: OVERKILL Brings Pulp Horror Action to Wii
LEIPZIG (August 19th, 2008) – SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced The House of the Dead: OVERKILL, an all-new pulp-horror reinvention of the classic SEGA light-gun shooter franchise. Created by London-based studio Headstrong Games, The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will take you right back to the beginning of this classic horror series. Available exclusively on the Nintendo Wii early in 2009 and announced to coincide with Games Convention at Leipzig, The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will be presented live by developer Headstrong Games for specially invited members of the press in SEGA’s business centre suite.
The House of the Dead: OVERKILL uncovers the ugly, terrifying, red hot secrets behind the House of the Dead; the daddy of all over-the-top shooters. While staying true to the classic gameplay this hugely successful SEGA series is getting a new retro look, with distinctive graphics, sound and attitude that will add to its horror cool status. Plus, thanks to the Wii Remote™, players will fight off zombies when they get too close; pistol-whipping jaws off and smashing in skulls with their shotgun butt.
“We wanted to do something really different with The House of the Dead: OVERKILL,” commented Bradley Crooks, Studio Head at Headstrong Games. “With SEGA we’ve been able to create a fresh look for the franchise. I think you’ll agree it’s like nothing you’ve seen before on Wii.”
“Paying homage to the pulp horror comics and films that inspired generations of gore fans, The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will expose gamers to a brand-new fleshy rollercoaster ride of revolting dismemberment,” commented Gary Knight, European Marketing Director at SEGA Europe. “This is the hardcore Wii title you’ve been waiting for.”
The House of the Dead: OVERKILL takes you back to when Special Agent G was fresh out of the academy. Teamed up with hard-boiled bad-ass Detective Washington, they are sent to investigate stories of mysterious disappearances in small-town Louisiana. Little do they know what blood-soaked mutant depravity awaits them in the streets and swamps of Bayou City…
The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will be released in early 2009, exclusively for Nintendo Wii. For more information about the game, please visit

Instant win.
Well I'm sold.
God, that makes me really wish that I had a Wii.
G!
These are the kinda games I have been hoping for on the Wii.
I loves me some House of the Dead. I might give this a buy.
I love light-gun shooters, I'm there.
I saw a House of the Dead 1 & 2 combo for the Wii the other day... I was really close to picking it up. But, I've beaten House of the Dead 1 so many times... so many quarters...
1 is a pain in the ass to port.
Maybe I'll go back and pick it up!
Know how it plays? I've found Umbrella Chronicles plays really well... I was touch nervous about how it would play out on the Wii...For some reason the aiming does not seem as precise as an arcade light-gun shooter feels.
Box art is the shit.
Celeste [Switch] - She'll be wrestling with inner demons when she comes...
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age [Switch] - Sit down and watch our game play itself
Developers take note.
If the actual game has the same grindhouse aesthetic, I'm probably sold.
Which means that we don't get snubb'd for once!

Actually, I don't think I care.
"This is like something out of a videogame!"
And that wheelchair for seemingly no reason. The Grindhouse trailer is sweet, and I'm also hoping the game has a similar style. It would be awesome if the quality of the "film" reflected your health (more film scratch and graininess as you get closer to death). I know I'm getting my hopes up for nothing, but it would be bitchin' if the film looked like it damn near came off the reel when you suffered a brutal melee attack.
YOU BEAT ME TO IT!
Seriously - BRILLIANT trailer and boxart - fucking BRILLIANT. I hate when Sega does something right because it makes me think theyre back (although the Samba DLC trailer on the Nintendo Channel is also fucking exciting...). It makes jokes about the lack of hardcore, it totally gives the game's campy feel some justice and not like Sega doesn't get that we're all laughing at it.
Is House of the Dead Return for Wii good? I picked up Umbrella Chronicles and I didnt love it at first, but I'm getting more and more into it as I go - is HotD using the zapper better/worse/same?
Man - HotD2 was ALL I did on my Dreamcast forever. Suffer like G did? was the best.
I've been waiting for a sequel forever.
This is fantastic. I've been looking for an excuse to pick up a Perfect Shot and either HOTD2+3 or Ghost Squad, and now I have a reason.
I really, really hope this game delivers.

Germany has weird laws about certain types of videogames. But I don't know anything more about it than that.

Oh.
My.
God.
Hardcore Grindhouse style retro occult horror trailer?
THEY'VE COME FOR YOUR BRAINS BUT YOU WILL GIVE THEM BULLETS? That's fucking AWESOME
EDIT
Man, even the music in this trailer is killer. A bit of fusion in the middle, then it totally brings to mind Electric Wizard with the freakout jam at then end.
Being that you can plug any goddamn USB keyboard into the Wii and also the fact that I saw a 3rd party Made-For-Wii wireless keyboard the other day (Which I was actually wondering "Why hasn't someone done that yet?") makes me think that Typing of the Dead would be an awesome fit for the Wii.

I'm keeping my eye on this

I don't think nature produces a lime color that is anywhere close to limey enough for this quote
Anyway, looking forward to this.
