No specs yet, they say they want to release mod tools but they aren't worrying about it until they launch the game.

I never understood how people can get so fond of a game that they don't want the sequels to change in any way.
I've played every Final Fantasy and every Suikoden and I've never cried about the changes from title to title.
And believe me, both series went through a lot more changes than fucking Fallout.

The attachment to Fallout is a bit distorted. 90% of the people who loved the game played it in 1998 and have maybe picked it up a few times since then out of nostalgia, but have largely moved on to other games since then.
The people who want Fallout 3 to be exactly like Fallout 1 are the ones who played it since 1998 and barely touch other games except insofar as insulting is touching. The rest of us had newer games to play.
Edit: Since you mention Final Fantasy, you also see some of this attachment to FF7, and there's always the old "3D maeks gaems baed" people typing words in the SNES section of GameFAQs. Doesn't mean everybody who liked FF7 is like that, just that some games attract die hard fanboys like that.

And when we say those people we mean NMA, of course, but it's usually the same dozen or so people who complain on the forums. I like to go there whenever there's Fallout 3 news just to see the reactions. They were bitching that the game was too brown, and full of obscenities (one guy, two swear words) ruining the atmosphere from the recent videos from PAX. I doubt anyone really gives a shit about those twelve people. Although, RPG Codex is apparently pretty bad, too, going so far as to send death threats to Bethesda.

At this point, those twelve people have too much hate invested. They're even starting to hate the game for being TOO MUCH like Fallout. They can't afford to like it, it would hurt their pride too much.

Quick FO2 question: Am I missing something with character creation? If you just start from scratch, all stats are at 5, and you got 5 points to distribute. If you just modify Narg, you can drop all his stats to 5, and it gives you a total of 12 to distribute. Why wouldn't someone do that?

Narg has the Gifted trait, which gives +1 to all SPECIAL stats, while lowering the started percentage of all skills by 10%.

Narg probably has the Gifted trait, which adds one point to all of your stats.

You know what's fun? Wandering the wastes for a year, running into a military base, and then running away because BIG SCARY MUTANTS WITH MINIGUNS, only to be killed a few days outside of it by BIG SCARY MUTANTS WITH MINIGUNS!
We found the food and took it back to Moira who sent us on another quest to infect ourselves with deadly radiation so she could study it. What? B*tch, you crazy. We did it anyway, submerging ourselves in some irradiated water until we were at 200 rads, though if we would have gotten 600, there was some kind of bonus in it for us. Again, we returned to Moira and she thanked us and fixed us up. At this point, Pete Hines of Bethesda walked over and said, “you know, if your speech skill was high enough, you could have bullsh**ted her into thinking you had done it when you actually hadn’t.” Lie in a video game, Pete? I would never.
Note to self: level speech skill.

So did we ever find out if the Pipboy that comes with the Survival edition is an actual alarm clock or just a clock? That's the one question I need answered before I'll drop 120 bucks on it otherwise it's just the SE for me.

The odd thing I've noticed about Fallout fans is that we all feel terribly compelled to defend the games-1&2, as if they were a religion. Anybody who we feel sleights the game in any manner and we feel personally offended. That's surreal! I realize this in myself and hopefully take a step back from becoming a rabid fanatic of the game that I know I am.
There must be something to this game, more than just a piece of electronic entertainment.
Fallout 3 better deliver, or I'm taking a walk off a short pier.

With the Survival Edition strapped around your neck?
I will be William, the smart talking detective that solves his problems with his fist, and maybe small arms too, since they said just unarmed would be hard.
My reasoning for it is like, those games at the carnival where you hit a mallet on a plank and it shoots that metal disc up and the urban legend of being able to knock the bell off with enough force.
mallet= power first
metal disc= energy travel
bell= raiders head.

I was gonna' post somethin' about hyperpressurized liquified internal organs takin' the path of least resistance, myself.
So will the Mega Power Fist make everything pop off?

That's actually pretty good reasoning, the force has to come out somewhere.. :P
Another reasoning would be that the hitbox for the head is too big and we will all make headshots all the time, ever ever!!
