Just make sure you fade EVERY TIME the murlocs come. You will die otherwise. If you're MT healing, remember that Morogrim hits very hard, you're going to be spamming a lot and chugging pots every cooldown. There's not much to say except he hits really fucking hard :P

Shadowfiend early so it comes back up, don't be afraid to ask for innervates.

Yeah, I don't know about you guys, but barely anybody in my raid asks for innervates, ever. With two feral druids and one resto, that's a lot of regen that simply isn't needed usually. But is great for difficult stuff like Morogrim. If I think I'm going to need one I'll usually talk to a druid beforehand and make sure they only use theirs on me. That way I can use it early on knowing that I'll have another in 3 minutes. Between shadowfiend, mana pots, Bangle of Endless Blessings + Inner Focus and innervate, I can't imagine ever going out of mana.

Sigh... Looks like I'll be running as shadow for our Kara run for a bit. (OK, at least I finally had a reason to buy the heroic shadow damage offhand of happy bubbley joy, but still... >.>) We had 4 healers on last night for our Kara quickie last night, so I lost the roll and ended up dps'ing. (we all *like* healing, gasp!) Yeah, me being the mana battery ended up decreasing our run time by 20 minutes, despite the fact that we only had 9 people for the first hour and 2 of our dps were one of our pally's roommates and really undergeared. The casters just can't use enough mana to ever have to drink... I sure have to, but them... yeah not so much.

So um, should I be putting out as much threat as I am? I'm putting out as much threat as our elemental shaman & warlock with just VE/SW : Pain and Mind Flay. A Mind Blast crit will usually put me at #1. (I'm winning on threat! I'm winning on threat!) We have a good tank so it's not an issue of pulling aggro, but is that normal?

    Threat. Learn to embrace it!

Edit: Who's got good ideas for a shadow priest-related shirt for blizzcon? I needs a good one.

Same, most of the time they're really focused on the tank and their own personal mana pool so they don't ask out of fear that someone else needs it more. It really helps to have your shadow priest using their f keys to run through his party and determine if anyone needs an innervate. Do that after every 2 or 3 dot cycles and your healers will be much better off.

And medo: How about "Coke is really fucking jealous he doesn't have tickets here!" no one will get it, but it's true.

And ishtaar: Get yourself BoSalvation, and slow down a little bit if you need to (VT + MF opposed to VT + MF + SWP, or just taking a rotation wanding).

I must say, after they created battlegroups my hatred faded. The other names I don't recognize as much. I really only dreaded seeing old school Fury and Awakening A-teams. those were the times where we would do things like make a circle around a shaman with the Crown of Destruction and kneel. things of that nature.

Part of me really wants to spec out of 28/33 for 23/38 for leet raid haels. But that part of me is stupid, since at the moment I'm only making one and a half raids a week, if that, while I'm quite reliably doing pvp/arena.

It's not like I'm struggling, I just feel like I'm missing out on so much potential by raiding with a PvP spec.

Wow, almost 1K shadow damage, Medo. Impressive.

My lowly damage set is still in the 500s.

My spec has been working very well for me, so your D: in relation to me specing according to preference was totally unfounded. ;)

The next best off-hand for shadow priests obtainable outside of 25-man raids is The Saga of Terokk

28 spell damage and a good amount of intellect.

It actually doesn't directly apply to you since it's the "Non raiding non heroic loot list" but still it's there!

Whoops. Did some wowheading and apparently they added something better in 2.1

Karrog's Shard. 35 spell damage. Not too shabby.

EDIT: You could also get Crystal Orb of Enlightenment, if you feel like grinding Ogrila to exalted.

    And so I need help
I made a priest last night and somehow leveled them to 22 in the last 24+ hours
I plan on specing shadow until about the time I do outlands and then respecing to be a healer so get some experence as a healer at 60+ ratehr than be a noob learning in a bad instance

So far I bought spirit tap and nothing else since in my past experence blackout was not really all that worth it

So how what would be a good shadow priest build for me to have until 60ish?

This was my build to 70 before I went holy.

There's no reason you can't main heal an instance all the way to 70 with a shadow build (Hence, why I put five points in Silent Resolve). I was main healing from Deadmines all the way Underbog/Sethekk halls with this build.

Shadow priests only need +6% to hit since they get the other 10% from shadow focus for +99% hit against raid bosses.

    76 rating or bust.

My +hit is shitty but I don't really care, I don't raid I just do 5 man stuff and it doesn't seem to make a HUEG difference for me.

    Plus: What Netranger said.

Also: Fucking ogres and their requiring fucking Apexis Crystals instead of golds.

Yeah the 6% thing is awesome. It's a stealth bonus vs raidbosses, your average shadowpriest will have 5-10% more dps vs a raidboss compared to a mage/warlock when compared to vs a trashmob, because they only miss 1% of the time. The 6% is real easy to reach too (Spellstrike set+Aran wand+Maiden gloves for me, but if you color gem the shadoweave set, you can get 24 too).

The talent just adds to the one-stat wonder that all shadowpriests are. That's why they are topping 1100 spelldamage.... you don't really have to care about anything else.

So, currently raid spec healing bot. About 166mp5, 1700+ healing, getting tired of dying all the time and generally feeling not as significant towards the raid as a shaman/paladin/tree.

I have put in my request to either change mains to rogue (lol) or respec to shadow. Any hardcore healers a recent convert with TBC raiding?

What sucks is that I've really zero gear for shadow, and I'll have to dump 100g to respec tailoring :(

Hopefully I can control my frustration with the priest class at Blizzcon and not unleash a vomitous spew of cursing and anger towards the developers. My luck, I'll pop on a poor art dude who has no clue what the priest class is, "I designed shrubbery in ZG!"

The path to good shadowpriest gear is painful and expensive. If you care about the 150g to respec tailoring, you don't want to do that grind, trust me. (I figure, depending on server prices, total grind/mat cost is around 4-6k gold, and there's the heroic token grind).

However, as a shadowpriest you feel extremely useful in a raid.

    Hush you!

The money isn't a problem with me unless they require me to spec back and forth in the transition period. To swap back and forth with gear and spec will cost 300g (50g x 2 - each respec; 100g x 2 - each tailoring respec). Since I am mooncloth I have no alternative healing gear when I break my tailoring specialization.

Either way, it'll be nice to be able to raid and solo with the same gear/spec. Smiting away for 600 is embarassing.

Tailoring gear is way more crucial to shadow spec then it is to holy spec. There's quite a bit of good healing gear through Karazhan and beyond. For shadow, it doesn't get better then the tailored stuff until Black Temple and Hyjal. Even then, the tailored gear still holds up.

Before you're wearing two pieces of Tier 5, Primal Mooncloth is better than anything available.

edit: The alternatives for slot available in Karazhan are much worse, even disregarding the awesome set bonus.

I like circle of healing, but would like it better if it crossed group boundaries and healed for over 1000.

It's still pretty useful like it is, 25 mans throw a lot of ae damage around and an instant ae heal is always nice.

About the only offensive part of the holy tree is lightwell, which they'll probably never make useful.
