What's in your suitcase?!

This has been discussed in the General FAQ thread but it's actually time for me (and I'm guessing most of you too) to start packing, so this issue is especially relevant now :D. Keep in mind that I may be packing more than most people since I'll be gone for 7 days (including the WCST up and down). I am posting the contents of my inventory here partly so that I can keep organized, and also to perhaps remind others of stuff they may have forgotten to pack.

Here is my list so far, ordered roughly in priority from high to low:
  1. Suitcase, messenger bag
  2. PAX Badge, train tickets
  3. Wallet, keys, pen, notebook (stuff that normally goes in my pockets)
  4. Clothes: 7 pairs underwear, 7 pairs socks, 7 t-shirts, 2 collared shirts, 1 tie, 1 jacket, 1 hoodie, 4 pairs jeans, 3 pairs shoes, accessories
  5. Phone, charger
  6. Extra cash (stored separately from my wallet, in case my wallet gets lost/stolen)
  7. Toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, deodorant, cologne, disposable razors, shave gel, contact solution, other toiletries (NOT shampoo/conditioner or soap, hotel will provide those)
  8. Camera, camera case, extra battery, charger, extra memory, SD card reader
  9. Nintendo DS, AC adapter, games
  10. MP3 player, headphones
  11. Surge protector
  12. Lappy
  13. Notebook for sketches/autographs
  14. Buttons!
  15. Laser Cel for Mike and Jerry to sign.
  16. Bob the Angry Flower book for the offhand chance of a Stephen Notley sighting =D.
  17. Booty
  18. Earplugs (plus plenty extras for anyone else who wants them) for sleeping on the train/hotel room and for the concerts
  19. Airborne, vitamins
  20. For the WCST: booze, snacks
  21. Dice, velvet dice bag with dragon clasp, 4E Character sheet
  22. Various important printouts (triwizard drinking contest scorecard + map of route, personal schedule, face list)

Hope you found this useful!

Earplugs for the concerts? ..Well I guess it couldn't hurt, I stood right in front a giant sub last year while Freezepop was playing, went deaf the rest of the weekend. But it was worth it!

    Anyway...

Wow, people are starting to pack already? I find it most helpful to wait for the hour or so before I leave. Makes packing more efficient- or at least much, much faster. 8-)

Umm, what am I not leaving the house without:

    Clothes and toiletries, I'm sure.
    Husband and husband's stuff
    Essentials: wallet, keys and Sidekick(hiptop)
    Train ticket and PAX badge
    Laptop
    DS + games
    ipod and earphones
    Book
    Trail mix
    Pins and little assassin trophy
Probably some Strongbow for the train trip

I saw someone mentioning earplugs for the concerts, and I'd like to emphasize that. You really do want earplugs for loud shows. If you get a decent pair of earplugs it won't alter the sound at all, just bring it down to a reasonable level that won't damage your hearing, and sometimes it actually makes the music sound better. Mostly, though, you just want protection from the sound. I have friends who are really into the show/band scene, in their early-mid 20s, who are a little bit deaf from going to 2-3 shows a week and never wearing earplugs. That damage is permanent, and even if you lose a little street cred among the more badass, "I don't give a fuck" crowd, you'll be glad when you're 30 and you're the only one who can hear things from across a room.

Not only that, but if you need to sleep in a crowded area like a train, plane, bus, etc. earplugs are very helpful. An eye mask is also good.

As far as what I'm bringing...

    Clothes:
    Legend of Zelda "Life" T-shirt
    Street Fighter "Hadouken" T-shirt
    Halo 3 "CTF" T-shirt
Really, really old Warhammer 40,000 "Battle of Armageddon" T-shirt
Really, really old Games Workshop Games Day 2000 Baltimore T-shirt
    Against Me! T-shirt
    2x pairs of cargo shorts
    1x pair of jeans
    Belt
    8x pairs of underwear
    8x pairs of socks
    Aasics walking shoes
    Sandals
    Slick looking dress shirt
    Slacks
    Black socks
    Dress shoes
    Tie

    Toiletries:
    Shampoo/Conditioner
    Antiperspirant
    Deodorant
    Razor
    Shaving gel
    Toothbrush
    Toothpaste
    Cologne
    Face wash
    Comb

    Fun:
    Cowboy Bebop complete series DVDs
Chris Rock DVDs (all 3 HBO specials)
    Invader Zim complete series DVDs
    Mechaton LEGOs and rulebook
    Mordheim terrain, figures, dice, rulebooks
    WoW TCG cards
Nintendo DS (if I buy one before the expo) with Mario Kart and Worms

    Misc/Equipment:
8" fan for cooling down the PAX train
Backpack full of snacky type foods and water
    Watch
    Train ticket for PAX train
    Plane ticket back to Reno
    PAX badge
    Printed personal PAX schedule
    iPod
iPod speakers for PAX train party music
    V-Moda Bass Freq headphones
    Cell phone
Cell phone car and wall charger
    Asthma inhaler
Earplugs for sleeping on the train and for concerts
Eye mask for sleeping on the train
Wallet with cash, driver's license, student ID, AAA card (for discounts!), and United Blood Services card (in case I need a transfusion!)

    God, what do I have?

    Suitcase:
    clothes for 8/26-9/1
    shoes as needed
toiletries that are too big to take in the carry on
empty purse (I'll keep purse-like things in my carry-on until I get to the hotel, then switch out)

    Carry-on:
    PAX badges (mine and hubby's)
    Wallet
DS, husband's DS, games & charger
Phone, charger, hubby's charger (I presume he'll keep his phone actually on him)
    Camera, charger & usb*
    iPod & usb*
Laptop & associated cords (in its laptop bag, since without a purse I can use the comp bag as my "personal item" to carry on board)*
    3-1-1 toiletries
    Other non-liquid toiletries
1 paperback (in case of battery deadage on plane; haven't decided which yet)
Travel DC to AC power converter thingy
    meds for self and hubby
chewing gum (I have problems with my ears)
    possibly some candy

*I'm planning on bringing my laptop, but not positive yet if I will or not. Obviously, I won't need the USBs if I don't bring it, although then I'll need to stop and get a charger for my iPod, too.

I think that's it... the clothes and shoes for the entire period are going to become massive if I'm not careful. >.<

I think last year I stayed within a four block radius until Sunday night when I had a dinner out with (gasp) non-PAX friends. Most of the time was either WCTC or Sheraton, so I'm not sure if an umbrella is worth the trouble for that. I guess I'll probably throw one in though, just to appease the rain-gods.

    1) Clothes for a few days, plus some extra just in case
    2) Computer / Monitor / Game Discs / so onfor BYOC
    3) Toiletries (Contact stuff, deodorant, soap and shampoo / conditioner. I know they replace that stuff daily, but I a) don't wanna risk an allergic reaction and b) sorta prefer the conditioner I use cause it makes my hair more manageable and soft!)
    4) DS / games / charger
    5) Ipod and Charger stuff (though I have my computer there, can help to have a wall charger too)
    6) A Book or three
    7) First Aid kit (just in case!)
    8) Mechaton Mechs and Rules (plus maybe a small bin of robot building legos.. hmmm)
    9) Camera , cables, and chargers
    10) Maybe some card games depending on whats going on.. I could bring some Munchkin or something.. or a board game like Talisman.. hrmmmm
    11) Lots of other crap that escapes me right now.. I have a list somewhere around here.. prolly sitting IN MY BAG like a good lttle list.

Just FYI, radios don't get the greatest coverage in the WSCTC. I'd recommend a phone plan with a lot of text messages.

We used them last year, worked fine, though headsets help a lot. Phones don't work because we don't hear them. Radios also give us another form of entertainment, but I'm not getting into that, lol. They're also being used for the drive down and back since my group is taking 2 vehicles.

Don't worry Red! I'll sing in the rain for you if it'll make you feel better. =)
