How can I force Steam to download and install games onto a different hard drive? Apparently I don't have enough space for TF2 on C but I know I definitely do on F. Do I have to uninstall Steam and reinstall it on F?
Take the .gcf files (I think they're in the Steam/SteamApps directory), copy them over to your F drive. Uninstall steam on C:, reinstall on F:, re-copy those .gcf files back into the new F:/Steam directory and you should be mostly good to go.
I'm pretty sure this is the proper technique.
Just moving the folder and redirecting the shortcuts seemed to work, but cheers.

Hrm, I don't think I can make this a 1CP map easily without allowing spawn camping, since the doors aren't set up so they open/close (I'm lying, this would all be easy if I decompiled the map, but I don't want to).
So, yeah, no single CP map. If you want to play the maps, man it out in an arena server.
Honestly, I really hope they don't do any more maps next update and instead do two classes worth of achievements. Especially because I don't want to see the sniper, spy, or engineer have an update all to themselves.
My theory on the arena/cs style of play is yah it makes you learn faster and get better faster, but if you get burnt out from not having fun you are not going to play anyways. I loved CS back in the day. I had the time to get better and a core group of friends that I could play with. Nowadays, I would not have the patience for it.
Haven't tried arena yet, but it sounds fun. Should be good on the PA server where I can at least spectate good people and not just be screaming at my monitor watching some noob. I hate CS matches that ended with some dude spawn camping and you just had to wait for time to end.....[/rant]
I'd like to give it a shot, but I think it'd work best if 3 wins scrambles and no crits. Was playing Arena on granary earlier as a demo, and unless I was instakilled by a crit Heavy burst from across the map, I'd usually take down three or more people per round with winbombs - sometimes the kills coming from all crits. With 12 people suddenly DEMOPLANNNNNN
Well, granary is pretty well suited to demomans, way more so than the others, but STILL.
Also, a funny arena story - the server admin yelled EVERYONE ON RED GO HEAVYYYYYY at the start of the round, so naturally, being on red, I went heavy, too. Through skilled use of sandviches and protecting the eaters thereof, we chipped em down until there were just two blus left, a heavy and a medic. The blu pair regular-ubered from a distance, the red heavy sees them coming, ducks around the corner and grabs a snack, we think that's all she'll write, blu heavy and medic break out fists and saw, almost kill red heavy, red heavy punches the medic once for the kill and KGB CRITS BLU HEAVY THRICE FOR THE WIN WHAT THE FUUUUUUUCK

You must have ALOT of stuff lol, how big is your C drive?
Just drag the folders inside steam over and reinstall to that directory.
I got a good one from Granary, we on RED trimmed down BLU to a single medic. As a soldier and myself (a Kritz medic) look for the medic we decide to cap the point. Out of nowhere she comes out blutsauger'd me and my soldier and dealt massive damage to the demo and scout on the point. She pulls back and strafes around the crates to kill the scout leaving one demoman. We all think the demo is going to win until the medic comes out pops a few needles at the demo bringing him down to ~25 HP only for him to lay some stickies and take another group of needles to the face as he dets.
Have there been any arena rounds where the last two die at the same time? The last soldier's rocket kills the guy that killed him or something? Does it stalemate?
It stalemates if they die at basically the same time.
I did it with a spy when I was soldier to test it out, I rocketed and both of us died simultaneously, and it's a stalemate. No sudden death. =P
Also, if the last guy has 1 HP and he's on fire, but he just killed the last enemy, it's the team with the guy with 1 hp. Usually the round ends INSTANTLY? At least on Jon's server it does, so there's no stalemate in that situation.
I dunno...I might be the odd-man out in this...but I've never had any issue with any of the game types or Valve-made maps. They're all fun in their own way and I think Arena adds a welcome change of pace to the game. I tend to get worn out after doing the longer maps (all the pls and dustbowl) so the short, intense rounds of arena are a godsend.
Plus spectating isn't that bad, I like to follow around players who I think are very good and observer them and see how they approach the game.

It always feels lame to capture the mid point, though, but it's just so hard to track down that last player in the map!

That might have been me on the day the update came out. I had like 10 health and he just had to jump at me.
