Man I think I like my 360 better just because of the way it handles voice chat. #1 it comes with a mic, #2 is the fact that the headset plays only the voices, whereas on the PC my headset plays all the game audio.
I have a 40 dollar headphone/microphone combo. And it's excellent. Much better than the 360 headset.
Jesus Christ you daft fucks don't trigger an enemy sentry when your spy is walking towards it so he can sap it
How fucking hard is that to understand
Sometimes you dudes are so invisible that your own team can't see you.
Here comes that "everyone should have voice chat" thing again. It's as crucial for spies as it is for medics.
"Hey, guys, I'm about to sap the sentry bank they have around the corner, so get ready."
9 times out of 10 the spy will die, but in situations where there are too many sentries and engies for a spy to take care of, I've seen this pulled off (I can count the number of times on one hand) where the attacking team absolutely crushes the defense. Sometimes the defense will assume that a sentry bank is so strong that they'll all essentially turtle behind it. When one spy sacrifices himself to sap everything so the offense can land rockets/pipes/Sasha bullets, forward momentum appears so quickly that the defense gets rocked.
You don't need voice chat to work as a team, you just need not to be a mouth-breathing, pea-brained idiot. It's not a huge stretch to assume that, hey, maybe that spy running towards the sentry nest is planning to sap them and I should hold off my current lemming-like suicide rush just long enough that I can run out when the sentries are immobilized and actually do something productive besides padding the enemy engineers' scores like the last 20 times I ran out into the same damn sentries.
Yeah, so I've kind of had many similar incidents to Savoo's.
I already did about a month ago. Everyone should have gotten them by now. Send me an e-mail at the address I sent one to you from if you haven't received yours yet.
If you sent them, don't worry about it. Just means someone stole it. As usual.
Soooooo, my sniper shots no longer go where the dot is... great
Kept missing obvious hits in on the server, gave up and quite thinking it was just an off night. Then I just loaded it in single player (1 man server) to try it out. Shots are varying from the dot's location by significant distances -- mostly to the left, but not always. Worse, when the dot is moved to a different position slightly, the bullet holes still hit the exact same spot on the wall/object/whatever I'm aiming at as the previous shot, so I can't compensate.
Any idea how to fix this? Tried restarting both steam and the PC, but to no avail. :-/

It's most likely just the fact that hitboxes will lag slightly behind players as they move. I've been meleed from at least 8 feet away as I backpedaled before.

Well I thought that for multiplayer. I was going by bullet holes in static objects for single player. IIRC, they normally line up perfectly with the dot on inanimate objects.

1. Are you using a mouse or controller?
2. Have you tried taking your rifle down to the range to sight it in?

1) Mouse. I mean, I was doing fine with it yesterday. Today I couldn't hit crap and the bullet hole problem appeared.
2) Heh laser sights are for wimps :P But I did do a virtual range on the first point of Dustbowl. Shots were swinging wide by more than a soldier's body width at that range, and the target locking the bullets were doing makes it impossible to compensate.

Seriously. A disguised ubered spy followed by an ubered pyro or demospam can take out so many sentry nests with ease it's kind of sad for the enemy engineers...

Guys, I'm thinking of busting out an arena tournament. Either 6v6 or 8v8. No specific teams. When a team gets to 3 wins in a row the losing team is eliminated, then the teams are scrambled with the remaining players and this continues until there's only one person left. What do you think? It's a tourney that can be finished in maybe 2 days max, so no worry about inactivity.

You change your cl_interp setting?
Not intentionally. My solo tests were also with me standing still and against non moving targets.
I tried playing on the servers again. Occasionally, every non projectile gun (i.e. every gun except RL and granades) looks like its firing twice each shot (its not). One shot lands where its pointed, and one shot veers to a different spot -- the game is registering the latter as the actual shot. This messes up every class, though not as severe as the sniper

Hey fuckers let's fucking share our keyboard mappings. I made mine into a picture so that it's educational but also fun for all ages.
The reason I didn't explicitly identify the taunt key is because that function is assigned to every key that isn't already responsible for something. The numpad faces are shortcuts to the disguises, and I've printed out tiny portraits of the classes and taped them to the keys.
I think I may have mouse acceleration. Never really fiddled with it, if it's on I'm going to try turning it off, see if that affects my scout and sniper play at all

TURNING OFF MOUSE ACCELERATION:
(Warning - I take absolutely no responsibility for you messing up your registry)
To test: Take the index finger of your non-mousing hand and plunk it down somewhere on your mouse pad. Quickly move your mouse back and forth, ramming it into your finger. If acceleration is turned off, the cursor will stop on the same spot on-screen every time. If acceleration is still enabled, the cursor will creep across the screen more and more each time.
EDIT: This completely, 100% removes all mouse acceleration. If you want it back, make sure to back up the registry nodes you change.

Also, it could be a decal problem? Find a server with 1 other player and have him stand still and try to get a headshot on him.
Though if it's just a decal problem, it means you sucked the last time you played.

Now you go.
I do the old 'place dot where the guy's head will be' for most classes and only twitch shot heavies and snipers. I guess I twitch for scouts too.

My settings are the two sweetest words of the english language
I just turned on quick weapon switch and use the number keys.
1 for primary, 2 for secondary, 3 for melee. During normal combat I just use Q to switch between primary and secondary.
Works like a charm.
