Well I certainly thank Zek for the 3-day pass, but I'm afraid TF2 on the PC is just a little too infuriating for me to play regularly. At least on the Xbox I felt like I stood a chance, both due to less players in one server and the playing field being leveled due to the controls.
On the PC I just feel like I don't even accomplish anything--getting killed before I can do so.
I think I may have mouse acceleration. Never really fiddled with it, if it's on I'm going to try turning it off, see if that affects my scout and sniper play at all
Anyone got any guides on turning that off?
TURNING OFF MOUSE ACCELERATION:
(Warning - I take absolutely no responsibility for you messing up your registry)
To test: Take the index finger of your non-mousing hand and plunk it down somewhere on your mouse pad. Quickly move your mouse back and forth, ramming it into your finger. If acceleration is turned off, the cursor will stop on the same spot on-screen every time. If acceleration is still enabled, the cursor will creep across the screen more and more each time.
EDIT: This completely, 100% removes all mouse acceleration. If you want it back, make sure to back up the registry nodes you change.
or if you're in vista i THINK you can go to the control panel, then hitting mouse, and going to the Pointer Options tab...then uncheck "Enhance Pointer Precision"..that SEEMS to work for me from what I can tell...i'm gonna try sniping and scout tomorrow now that i've changed this
I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but I have to ask - why on earth does the Steam overlay browser not let you type in an address? I would love to do a little surfing while waiting to respawn.
Also, I forgot to mention - I highly advocate the mouse-acceleration-removal trick above. ALSO - the post above reminded me - I have NO IDEA if that works for Vista; a quick Google indicates that it does not work on Vista SP1. I use it on 32-bit XP.

For the same reason you can't send out community announcements via it.
AKA: No bloody clue.
EDIT: Although, I'd bet there's some kind of security thing there, they don't want people to somehow spoof a page on the internal client and get you to leak your login & password to hackers.

Yeah, probably security, considering it uses the IE engine by default...

It just takes a little practice, switching from Dual Analog to KB&M is difficult. I can't play Xbox FPS's that well anymore, too used to being able to aim.

I can go back and forth pretty well from CoD4 (360) to TF2 (PC), although I do get a bit rusty at either if I spend too much time on one or the other. It usually only takes a few days to get back in the swing of either system.
No I mean like I'm stuck in my ways. I've been playing the game since two weeks before release with the default controls. Any time I change something I end up changing it back very quickly out of frustration because I continue to use keys for their original purposes. I fuck up a lot, I stop having fun, I switch back. I've gotten very used to the defaults, they only REALLY suck for spy and I don't play a good spy anyway.
Man I think I like my 360 better just because of the way it handles voice chat. #1 it comes with a mic, #2 is the fact that the headset plays only the voices, whereas on the PC my headset plays all the game audio.
Shitty coding in Source. In WoW I can select audio output and shift between sound card and USB headset, so I have game sound in the speakers and Ventrilo in my headset.
Unles it's coded to support multiple sound outputs, games use whichever is current default -- if I have the headset hooked up when I start TF2, that's what is used, otherwise it uses speakers.
I'd love to have Source support multiple outputs so I can choose speakers for game sound and headset for in-game voice chat.
So: those class.cfg config files. Are they always executed when you swap classes? Might play with some more extensive bindings.

It's just the fact that I'd love to use my bluetooth headset for voice communications, but the game routes all the audio in it, and if you've ever listened to anything outside of a voice on a bluetooth headset, you know how horrible it sounds.
"... that adjusted for inflation from 1968 (the year Team Fortress 2 supposedly takes place), the heavy's minigun costs 2,458,735.08 dollars to fire for twelve seconds?"
Finally got my Ubersaw in my last game for the night. Fittingly, I got it off of the Peer Review achievement. It immediately proved useful, thanks to some overconfident sniper, and I can already tell it'll make a near permanent fixture of my medic arsenal.

Has anyone seen this date before?
It appears on the pin-up calendars in spawn rooms. Can't remember all the places they appear, but I know Badlands has them.

It's like you don't like this game.
if the teams are such that you think slaying all of red is necessary to give blu a chance
fucking scramble them instead

See? I need feedback because even I think my format is retarded.
Give me ideas.

I'd try it!

... Am I doing this right?
Yea it really isn't a tournament but I think it's kinda cool. Gladiatorial type shit, last man standing.

Weird, dispensers always seemed to go down so much more easily than a level three sentry, even when I'm ubered (and thus not dodging).
Edit: Also from that "Did you know...?" thing, I always thought the spy was French. You know, The Resistance and all that.
Seeing as how he says "merde" in one of the voice reactions, I'm going to go with French.
It's not saying that all the engy buildings have 666 health, it's saying that the combined total of all the buildings is 666 (evul) health
which explains the higher crit rate* for the wrench when somethings sapped, engy taps into his devil power to smack spies

The medic has an incomplete taunt animation of him getting high off his medigun fumes.
Well, he used to, at any rate. Valve "fixed" that with one of the more recent updates.

Oh, that makes a lot more sense. Alright then.
Oh. I never knew that.
Well at least I am amused now by it.
