Price isin't really an issue.

How long have you been out of PC gaming? Orange Box is a no-brainer. The TF2 free weekend is on right now if you want to try before you buy - if you like it or not you can then work out the best deal and combination of things, because there's all sorts of different combinations of the games in the Box.

STALKER is one I would really, really recommend. Make sure you stick with it until you hit the first Lab, as that's when the game gets to be pretty amazing. Though with Clear Sky coming out right away, you may be better served waiting for that.

I own STALKER and Orange Box.

There are a lot of games in Tycho's list that are definitely worth it, I'd suggest taking a look at those. Mount and Blade is excellent, as are SWAT 4 and Sins of a Solar Empire. Many, many others.

I Tried the demo for SWAT4 and didin't like it, and Sins was to slow for me.

Trackmania Nations Forever is an arcade racing game where you spend more time in the editor being a douche and make your friends hydroplane across a pond into a sharp turn than you do actually racing.

On the Rainslick Precipice of Darkness is fun and hilarious as well as Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People.

If you like Civ games, then you'll like Civ 4. I recommend the Beyond The Sword expansion if you decide to get it, it adds quite a lot of stuff.

Well the thing is I've never played a Civ game, just RTS's. Starcraft, Age of Empires, etc.

Oh, and Total War games.

Civ IV would be if you took the total war games, only kept the strategic map, and made it much more in depth. So if you enjoyed the grander aspect of the total war games over the battles you would definitely enjoy Civ.

Also, if your into RPGs the Witcher is supposed to be pretty good. I haven't played it because theres an enhanced edition coming out in September I'm waiting for. But you might want to check it out.

I've got CoH, it was pretty good, but I didin't really like it enough to warrent buying an expansion.

I've considered The Witcher, and, like you, am proably going to wait till the new edition.

Hmm. Would you be partial to some X-Com-ish action? UFO: Aftershock is about the best there is of the X-Com spiritual successors, and I'm working on a mod retool to take care of some of the biggest niggling problems I know of and to add some more interesting things to it.
