Poor-quality video!

I'll have more pics tomorrow, when I get access to the computer it's on.

edit: the video is all weird. It was working just fine, earlier. Sigh.

I can't help but think of Dr. Zoidburg. What program did you make this on?

Reminds me of Lavos from Chrono Cross. Why does it have a goatee?

The shell looks pretty good, but I don't like the pattern fill on the body. Too random, though the color selection is very good. I'm guessing this is going to be animated at some point and the colors are going to shift, right?

Hit it at the weak point for maximum damage!!!

That's pretty cool. I don't understand why the outline is so bold. Sorry, I can't help very much, I don't know much about 3Ding.

Toaster: 3DSMax 8. And while I was making it, the phrase "you all have Zoidberg!" was uttered frequently.

Slappy: that's what I was going for :P

New pics from other angles- fixed a weird cel-shading setting that was outlining places that didn't need to be outlined. The textures look weird in some places because they're procedurally generated, and so I only have limited control over, say, those glaring red blurs on the shell.

Cell shading needs SO much tweaking to look good. Simply put, 3ds max sucks at it. 3ds Max rocks for lower poly real time animation and scripting, whereas Maya does better with movie post production and longer renders.

Just saying that because it probably would have been easier to do with Maya, but 3ds max has it's perks for knowing.

That having been said, that's some nice cell shading. I belive 3ds max calls it Ink n' Paint?

Maya is very expensive though, whereas I have access to 3DSMax via school at a much cheaper cost (read: free)

and yeah, it's "ink n' paint." Not that I'll ever call it that, though. About as likely as calling a particle emitter "snow"

    Hi Kazhiim,
    the design looks really cool
except that i can't see the face of the crab such as eye etc..
or maybe the design is like that..
maybe you can improve on the texture a little bit so the feeling of depth
    is better..
    nice works.
    :)

Neato. What program did you use to create those? Do you have screens of the mesh? I can see the geometry is a little teeny-weeny bit wonky in some places, mainly here:

That may just be part of the design, though, so nevermind that comment if it is.

I like how it's a mix of organic (like the part at the back) and non-organic shapes (the front part and top parts)... looks pretty cool.

EDIT: I should probably learn to read the stuff at the top. You used Max 8 yeah?
