Some scientists involved in the Manhattan project believed that the detonation of a nuclear bomb would burn of the entire atmosphere with one blast!

In my senior year, I wanted to hook up with this girl I liked, so I asked her if she wanted to go see a movie sometime, and she said sure, but she wanted her friend to come along, and did I know anyone who could go with her. So I talk my best friend Bill into coming along. Of course, then the girl I am trying to score with suggests Patch Adams, because Robin Williams is oh so funny, so we relent and go along.

It's past the stupid sad part, like right after, and the girls we are with are crying and the whole audience has this sad hush over them. Robin Williams is all packed up to leave medical school when Phillip Seymour Hoffman's character steps out and says "You can't leave"

Without a moment's hesitation, Bill turns to me, wide-eyed and says in his best Sam Neill voice:

    "SHE WON'T LET YOU"

We crack up and everyone is looking at us and we basically ruin the climax of the film for everyone, and needless to say, the girl didn't want to see me after that.

    But it was worth it.

FUN FACT: Nazis actually made an barrel attachment for the MP44 (Mashinenpistole 44 also known as the Sturmgewehr 44, or the world first widely produced assault rifle) so that it could shoot around corners.

One of the versions would be used for a tank called the elephant they used against the Soviets during operation Barbarossa. IT would allow a wermacht soldier inside the elephant to shoot out f the hatch, essentially housing down the sides of the tank as the reds would try to climb aboard, since they kinda forgot to mount a machine gun.

The even made crazy over sized mirror attachments so the could see what they were shooting.

Thing is, the corner attachment for the STG44 would make the bullet explode, turning it into a shotgun, and reducing the range to shit. Not to mention the barrel would be fucked in like, 10 minutes.

The nazis were excellent at wasting money and development time.

The also were making a rocket launched glider called the Natter, it was armed with 24 fucking rockets. They pulled funding when they lost the first test flight and a good Luftwaffe test pilot.

    So like.

With this being all crazy hyped about how awesome it is.

What are the chances and how long will it be before any practical implication of this comes about?

    See that's what I figured.

Like yay we're taking the steps. But then again there's a chance that after years of pouring over the data will amount to "Huh. Looks like we were wrong"
