Ok, so I've compiled a list of sights to see and things to do on my upcoming trip to NYC. I'm taking a break from that though, and thinking about other trip-related things. One of the things is how to really capture the experience. I'll be taking my laptop and I want to take something to document the trip. However, my g/f's camera is just a 7.1mp Kodak EasyShare. Not bad for point and shoot, but we want something a bit more expressive, like this: Sony HDR-SR12
I can't think of a better way to document our trip. 120GB, and takes pictures (I have a 4GB SD Card for that). We're going to split our funds to buy this, but are there any other (maybe better) values out there?
I do, both, pretty much all day. I have a spare 5-10 minutes every hour or so and I invariably go crazy opening my "Deals" folder in tabs in Firefox. FatWallet is becoming a favorite. Are there any pros/cons to a HDD based HD video camera? Probably going to get the accidental warranty as well, since I'd feel stupid for buying a $1,000 camera and dropping it.

It will be likely slower than a camera with solid state storage. (Ex. Flash cards/Built-in memory).
Pro's are it's huge storage capability.
As far as picture quality, HDD vs Solid State should be the same.
I can't wait! We're going to have everyone give us gift cards until the trip (2 birthdays) so that we'll have enough set aside. Really psyched! Anyone have any experience with these? Played with it on the floor at Best Buy and the zoom alone is amazing. I could clearly read signage ACROSS THE STORE.

The daily deals there are fantastic a lot of the time, and newegg is nothing short of the best.
