I think I can safely say, at least from my experience, that the PSP version of this game is by far the superior choice. I'm on my second playthrough and still enjoying almost every minute of it. It's just the right amount of challenge for me, I think, and the second time around with all of your "upgraded" force powers intact makes you feel like a badass through the first half of the game.
Maxed-out push, saber throw, lightening and repulse just make you feel like a god and there's very little that enemies can do to stop you, especially if you've picked up most of the force/health powerups the first time around and have a pretty sizable health bar. Pushing and throwing objects just feels way more natural with the PSP's control scheme -- I'm much faster at it here than on the 360, and when I can hurl things at people or hurl people into people in mid-fight and not skip a beat there's just some sort of glee factor in that.
The extra game modes you get for the PSP are simply awesome. Possibly better than the game itself. Historic missions, Order 66, a duel marathon... lots of great fun. I can see myself getting tired of it, though, and putting it away for some months or even a year and then take it out again like it's a brand new game and having fun all over again.
Long story short: PSP version is the best. Go get it now, ditch your console versions.

Why? I can dribble bosses fast enough on roofs now that it looks like I'm playing upside down basketball.
I don't see why I can't have both. Definitely interested in the psp version.
Incidentally I just worked out, apparently repulses invincibility frames start right from the second you press the button from block, as long as you don't charge it at all. As soon as you start charging, even a millisecond, you can get hit until you stop.
I worked this out because a purges rocket hit me, and another was going to hit me just as I got to my feet.
I basically repulsed it at the same time as it hit me. (Then I started flipping around like a crazy man.)
I love repulse so much.

Btw, if you turn off advanced force in the options, and can instant grip things, you will notice, shall we say, a boost in acceleration of whatever object you happen to be gripping.
Literally I could fling a guy around the top corner of a room and he wouldn't touch the ground.
When gripping things around they're a lot more responsive when you first lift them off the ground as well. They move in a straight line from the floor instead of lifting up a bit first.
"Advanced" force actually seems to put training wheels on your grip.
The only problem is it's sometimes hard to pick up corpses.
But yeah, I could do a custom combo on a guy that ends with him bouncing in the air and then make him go 90% into a wall so fast I couldn't even see the grip animation, all I saw was Starkiller sweeping his arm across. If it's a small corridor they will hit the wall so hard they'll leave a dent in the metal and bounce back across his path.
But it feels a bit different in reliability, I think the velocity you can easily grip a corpse changes. (Uh that wasn't clear. I mean, if they're lying still on the ground it's harder, but if they're sliding it's easier, and if they're in mid air it's instant.)
But living guys are definitely all around easier.
I was running at a guy, and was making everything in front of him dissappear so fast with just target and quick triple grip cancelling it was like I was Sauron at the start of lord of the rings. Whoosh! Whoosh!

I can't answer that. I have a fertile and vicious imagination, which is why this game is so much fun for me.
It's full of bugs and your first time through will be quite possibly the worst gameplay you will have played in years. As far as a straight up single player game goes, it's pathetic. But I don't really care about the single player game, I just skip around levels to get to my favourite victims and sandbox it up.
Just rent it and check it out yourself. Even I was screaming in frustration my first time through.

I guess I was too busy stabbing dudes but still. The combat was flawless in that game. I can run around with nothing but the sheath dagger and never have to worry about the timing messing up.
That's all I care about.
It definitely wasn't as bad as this though. I've had three freezes so far, one of them in a cutscene.
I had this weird trippy physics bugout in the second last level, an object was slowly rattling back and forth into the floor, I don't know what caused it, but the frame rate went down to like 5 fps. And I had two purge coming for me on sithlord. So that was a very intense and very sloooooooooooooooooow fight.

Not even slightly.
I had a flawless experience.
And I have a second hand japanese ps3.
Yeah the story of this game is great. But not everything get's explained in game so some small things will make you go oO and you have to read the databank to figure out what happened behind the scenes, or find out from people who've read the book or whatever.
But as for me, and I'm really biased here because this game let's me play a guy with a lightsaber, but it felt like the original Star Wars, with all the cheesy one liners, great music, fantastic action, creepy sith guys and giant scene skips that entails.

No patch was announced. Shipping a buggy game that needs a patch should be frowned upon anyway, but that's for another thread.

I'd love a patch. In fact I even made a suggestion for being able to air recovery from a knockdown when you are on your feet on the lucasarts forums, even though I know, I know, it's a waste of time.

To be fair, some people have had pretty serious bugs. In the end this is really something you should just rent. It's unlikely you're going to put in enough time in the game to make it feel like a worthwhile buy. Of course, people should check the demo out first.

Not they shouldn't. Aegeri is 100% right about the demo being a big fat lie. You can't play the rest of the levels besides the first one and mess around as easily as the demo until you finish the game at least once and get to grips with the system and know how to counter everything, and know it's coming.
I mean, Tycho is wrong about him being a force pimp, so to speak. He doesn't even have lightning 2 or repulse. But he's definitely more powerful than most people are going to get in the first few levels unless they really take their time and explore, pick up holocrons, and choose their upgrades wisely.
Well, I guess they could use it to see if not killing in one hit with a lightsaber will make them spasm out or something.
And the grip mechanic is basically exactly the same.

Oh man, yeah.
This game rewards exploring so much.
And killing. Creative killing at that.
On my third play through now, Still haven't had any of the horrible bugs. Just too much fun wacking people around and maiming them horribly with a lightsaber. And Lightning. Oh, how I love level 3 lightning. Force CHAIN LIGHTNING :winky:
I had a few on the 360. On the second to last level when
You confront de Sable at King Richard's encampment
there's a heck of a bug. If you start the level with two controllers connected to your 360 you end up with two Altairs and several large fissures in the world that lead to infinite falling. The two Altairs were both acknowledged by bad guys, though - which made for some interestingly awesome fights.
I wouldn't so much say it's buggy as it is poorly programmed. I never encountered any notable bugs, anyway. These problems have been mentioned countless times; movement feels weird, jumping is shit, getting knocked over all the time is annoying, enemy behaviour is cheap rather than challenging, shitty camera, poor controls in general and the whole thing is just sloppily executed. It has moments of greatness (such as the first level), but they are never consistent. If you just want to experience the story, read the comic.
I don't hate the game; it has a lot of enjoyable parts, but it is, by no estimate, worth the price of a full game. Pick it up when it's cheap or rent it.

Wow you can grab people from so far away with advanced force disabled. Mo like nerf force m I rite.
Fuck I love throwing people all over the place.
I was fighting the first boss ont he second last level and just bouncing him into the roof as fast as I could and didn't even notice he had no health at all and was ready to start the qte until I ran out of force.
I was like awwwww.
It's a crime that this game doesn't have a permanent infinite energy cheat.
You know the most badass thing though, is doing the quick lightsaber toss in mid air, then doing a lightning stun and then aerial striking just as your lightsaber hits them. It looks like you teleport onto them, catch your saber, and then stab them with it. If you do it in that order, they generally die too.
If you are quick enough you can throw people then lightning them before they go too far away and start the big lightning bomb while they are dropping over the horizon. There's just this flash in the distance.

So the game isn't basically bad, it's just terribly optimized? Sweet, I'm usually a sucker for those kind of games. And I can handle the occasional freeze. Definitely renting this.
Well I finally bought the game today, along with Burnout Paradise. I played the first two levels while downloading cagney, and damn the Vader level sucked balls. He walks way too slow.
Anyway, just to mess around and see whats different from the demo I played on normal mode and I'm wondering how would I be beating these jedi(first and second bosses) on hard? Especially on the first one since you dont really have combos. I beat them both with about half health, it's a little different from the demo since you're missing a good ammount of the combos.
slow vader was instantly forgiven when i grabbed a wookie and used him to smack other wookies out of the air, and then blew up his flimsy wookie houses
So the game isn't basically bad, it's just terribly optimized? Sweet, I'm usually a sucker for those kind of games. And I can handle the occasional freeze. Definitely renting this.
The gameplay is hella unintuitive. Blocking is laggy so defence is a pain until you learn all the opponents startup animations, dodging from block to avoid unblockables is nearly impossible without using a move that eats up half your force bar. Mind you this move has overwhelming priority and the length of it's invulnerable frames is like a second long.
Your only free invincibilty frames dodges require you to be locked onto something. Other than that, you can be hit at any time for big damage.
I got stomped into a corner by an atst and then couldn't get up because it just kept stomping.
It's got gameplay problems, not just optimization.
For example there's no quick getup option if you get knocked off your feet, only if you get knocked into the air. You take about three seconds to get back off the ground during which time you have no control and they can still hurt you.
This can lead to stunlocks unless you jump just before the next unblockable knockdown move hits you so you can air recovery, but then you are taking the damage anyway. Or you use that move that takes half your force bar.
You basically have to learn how to never get hit. If you make a mistake you can die without it being your fault, just by being unlucky.
On the other hand. You can permanently stunlock just about any single enemy in the game and if you are clever with your force power small groups at once. And once you get max force powers you are pretty much unstoppable. I only die when I'm messing around with custom combos too much on too high a difficulty and let, eg, an atst corner me. That was a nasty shock.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is that this game has a true balance in a way.
Both sides are equally cheap.
But game "balancing" is supposed to be in favour of the player.

The trick to instant gripping without them appearing to hover at all but just instantly go from point a to point b is to press the direction you want to grip them in before you grip them. This is easiest done by targetting them, then just pressing the directions you want to go, and then pressing grip and letting go.
However you can use the autotarget to do this as long as you only want to send them forward, up, down, left or right. What you do is run at them, then tap the camera controls, not the movement controls, and then tap grip.
As you get the hang of how long you have to press grip for and get it down to the shortest possible required depress, the game will shoot them off at a much faster speed than if you pick them up and let them hover for a while first. I'm talking like two or three times as fast.
Prepare for jump to lightspeed!

If you are a fan of the Star Wars story, then this game will definitely please. It really felt like a worthy addition that tied the old and new trilogies together.
Some people seem to ignore the good story. The bugs weren't that bad, I actually enjoyed most of the game. I guess I'm wierd, too...
well, the only glitch i ever had in AC was it wouldn't save my flag-count.
but on PS3 it was supposedly a huge clusterfuck, falling through maps, clipping (sound familar?)

I'd love a patch. In fact I even made a suggestion for being able to air recovery from a knockdown when you are on your feet on the lucasarts forums, even though I know, I know, it's a waste of time.
I just can't help being naive and hopeful about this one.
...I guess the health orbs is sort of like data draining....
NEERRRRRDDDD
But dang it does look kinda like AIDA now that you mention it.
AIDA?
It's a reference to .hack//G.U. AIDA is a computer virus that appears as black blobs in game. I realized it was a bit obscure after I submitted the post. :P
To be fair, some people have had pretty serious bugs. In the end this is really something you should just rent. It's unlikely you're going to put in enough time in the game to make it feel like a worthwhile buy. Of course, people should check the demo out first.
On the second to last level when
there's a heck of a bug. If you start the level with two controllers connected to your 360 you end up with two Altairs and several large fissures in the world that lead to infinite falling. The two Altairs were both acknowledged by bad guys, though - which made for some interestingly awesome fights.
I don't hate the game; it has a lot of enjoyable parts, but it is, by no estimate, worth the price of a full game. Pick it up when it's cheap or rent it.

Watooniii!
