Wow, I got this game yesterday, and I'm having a pretty good time with it. It really seems like the way things have gone for this game are like STALKER and Assassin's Creed combined. Completely polar reviews and several glitches (although I've only experienced one)
also after Felucia
Did anyone else notice the paralells with the Executor cutscene and the end of Return of the Jedi? It really shows that vader grew a fucking spine when he saved Luke

I've heard that, supposedly:
In the novel or some other source it's revealed that it wasn't the Emperor at all, but PROXY.

Yeah, things like that happen through out the game. I think it really does a job of showing how Vader got to where he was in the OT. Also why I think a lot of people are saying you'll want to watch the OT right after finishing the game.
Im not seeing what you are demonstrating new here. You're just throwing the enemies normally.
Lol.
Righto Scarab.
There's no "gripping" animation where you can get hit in that video. At all (except a couple of times where I do it deliberately). There's only the swiping arm animation. You can get hit in the gripping animation. You ignore the damage effect of the person hitting you in the swiping one. So they can't interrupt the swiping arm animation. Uh, this still isn't quite right. Ok, put it this way, they get thrown regardless of what they do to you, it has insane priority. It's also instant in the sense that it's fast. And for me since I've practised it, effortless. I had zero problem running around that entire level doing that. I didn't have to care about wether it was worth it to throw them or not. It cost so little power to do, they went so far, and took so long to come back, and I can throw them so quickly with almost no risk to myself, nearly every level in the game has become mind boggling easy. This is on sithlord btw.
It's not so much a "new" technique as it is "isn't this a neat application of instant throwing, look at how neat it is. Wee throwing dudes!".
Plus I lolled myself rewatching the video and watching him not even pick them up but just instantly sweep his arm across. It looks unexpected every time.
You can even pick up purge if you target a normal soldier next to them. The triple grip will just outright pick them up.
Btw, you can throw enemies harder if you hit both left or both right on a stick at the same time. This does mean more damage when they hit the wall next to them as well. It seems that both sticks will double the force applied. You can also use this to throw "hard to toss" enemies much further than normal. It might not do too much damage to them, but you can kill all their minions while they are dawdling back to you.
I was too sleepy when I made it. I would literally think to myself "dodge now" and I'd do nothing and then I'd think "Uh, didn't I say dodge?" but that part of my brain replied "zzzz". But anyway, it's not meant to demonstrate anything more than the last vid, it's just for fun. I love this game so much. There is one point in it where I do mess up my grip completely by not hitting it for long enough just as an enemy is about to hit my face, which results in the enemy going straight into it's flail in the air routine but continue on the same arc it was taking before.
Basically that guy? Imagine he hit the skybox instead. That's what I did to most of them before and why I got so excited. I should have known I wouldn't be able to instantly recreate it, I've seen some moments in this game I've never seen again.
The x, pause, x, pause combo is useful in that it can be cancelled at any point with block. But so can the mashing x combo.
I only use the x, pause to be fancy, or against jedi/emperors guards since I can block in the middle.
It does do a lot of damage though, so I'll use it as a starter on a lone tough enemy before continuing with whatever I want to finish with. And when you combine it with lightning shield it hurts them a lot.
Workin on some custom combos now. Vid will be up either today or tomorrow, again it's not something necessary to do. It's just for fun.

Man, I don't read in depth technical stuff about a game I haven't played. I just go oh wow you can do neat shit then play it. Then after learning it, if you want to, you try to learn something else.
I just made a sniper shoot another sniper in the head. And then I picked up the shot sniper and threw it at the other one.
That made me laugh so hard.
edit: Rofl you can cancel the recovery of the saber, lightning, force "homerun" move by tapping away from where Starkiller is facing when he does the force bit. This let's you catch people before they fall to the ground, or jump and aerial strike them if you are fast.
You can also stunlock kazdan's droids and purge by doing it over and over and cancelling the recovery, but you have to stun purge with a lightning bolt first. So the natural thing to do there is use up all your lightning on them then saber, lightning, force, cancel, repeat until lightning is back up, do it again.
You can also do neat stuff like aerial strike a bigs, zap it with lightning, untarget it and dash towards it and do the aerial lightning, then do the multi hit aerial combo and then you can aerial strike again and dash away.
I locked down a whole room of guys on sithlord just now with saber, lightning, saber, blockcancel, saber, lightning, saber, blockcancel. I just did it through the whole room and they all got caught as he ran forwards. You can cancel the last move of every combo in some manner, so you can just keep going and going forever!
I ran up to a blue emp guard and did saber, lightning, force, (he gets blown away) recovery cancel, caught him mid air, threw saber, lightninged him up and then the stormtrooper watching goes "Oh this is going to end badly." and I threw the guard at him.
Oh, this works with saber, saber, force as well of course. Anything with that giant homerun move you just tap in the opposite direction to what he is facing and it cancels the recovery.
I seriously doubt that half of this shit I'm finding was intended.
But I know this is. Purge always counter after the third hit of a combo to prevent you from popping them up. Even if the second hit is a lightning they'll counter and usualy beat you. The best way to counter it is to make the third strike lightning instead of the second, and then you can pop them up.
I was dancing around this purge with saber, lightning, saber, cancel, he would try to counter, I'd sidedodge to his back and repeat the whole thing. Was pretty amusing.

I beat it, I can't tell if it was short or I enjoyed it so much that I flew through it. I got the "dark side" ending. I really enjoyed it because........
It wasn't the usual, I am now bad because I killed someone for revenge. It was, I just got the shit crushed out of me, now I'm more machine then Human. I wouldn't even call it the Darkside ending, I'd call it the tragic ending.
I hit continue game, now I can't wait to go through this game as an over powered Voldo, this time I will protect the Alliance and see what happens.
And thanks for the video Morning lord. I realized u can hit towards your enemies so you are running at them and just start flicking RB and everyone and everything just starts flying around, too much fun.
And how do you get the Achivement:
Bossk
Defeat 200 Wookiees on Kashyyyk Prologue
Do you just have to keep replaying the Prologue as Vadar over and over and over............?
You could. I'm also told that Wookies will spawn infinitely right around the part where
the TIE fighter crashes into the bridge you were just about to walk across.
Haven't tested it though, so your mileage may vary.

SOHNDANN is the costume master code. It unlocks all costumes. No vader or maul for ps3 or xbox.
Don't enter it if you haven't found the costumes you can get from holocrons, because the code will delete the holocrons and give you the costume, so you will always have 14/15 on that level.

I'm having a ton of fun with this game but I can't help feeling that it would have benefited from 3-4 more levels. It's almost too brief to play through, even for an action game.

I don't know. I thought that the pacing of the game was pretty good. I really enjoyed the "artificial" levels, like the TIE Factory, the Transport Ship, and the level with the Mass Driver, so maybe a level or so more of that. Heck, maybe even one on a Star Destroyer. ((I just had an idea. Another Jedi hunt, on a Star Destroyer...in fact, the specific Star Destroyer you "interact" with later.))
To me though, the pacing of the plot was pretty good. I don't know where they could have added more levels to space out the plot some. Seemed pretty tight "plot-wise" to me. Didn't feel too rushed or too slow. Maybe it could have been stretched a little, but not a lot.
I would like to have seen some of the additional Modes from the other versions on the PS3 version, though. Something like an Order 66 mode. Run a gauntlet of droids, then right as you're about to finish it, the clones turn on you. Along with the 3 AT-STs. That keep respawning/orbital dropped onto you. And you can either stand and die...or make your way to your escape ship/point.

It's very Harry Potter-esque. LOVE IT!!!!!!! I also like that there are different mini-games depending on which got locked together.
I just have two quick questions about the plot (pretty major spoilers):
If nobody is meant to know about you after Vader 'kills' you, how come there is a whole star destroyer full of stormies who know about 'vader's experiment'? OK, OK, in the end you weren't a secret apprentice, it was the emperor's plan, but if Vader's trying to tell you that nobody can know about you, why does he chuck you on a star destroyer where everyone knows about you for (apparently) 6 months.
The other question is at the same time: what is Juno doing on that ship? Taking the end-game spoilers into account, Vader doesn't care if you go light or dark side, just so long as you find all the rebels. So it's not like he's testing you, seeing if you care about her or anything. What does he care? And it would make sense if this happened a day or two after Vader's 'betrayal', but it's not. In fact, the databank says that Juno is moved from wherever she is to that destroyer, so it's like vader is giving you a chance to rescue her, even though there is no good reason for him to care. Or at least, none that I can think of.
I don't mind the thing people were complaining about before, about how Bail Organa never mentioned the death star to anyone, for two reasons: maybe he did, because it's not exactly a surprise to the rebels, they are trying to destroy it at the start of the movie; and also because it's entirely possible he never really saw what it was capable of. Yes he knew it was a big space station with a huge laser, but he could easily have assumed that it was just for defense against capital ships or something, or maybe for hitting targets on the ground. It's not as if he was getting the guided tour while he was there.
After finishing the game on the hardest difficulty, I've made a really important discovery: this game is so much more fun on apprentice difficulty. Seriously, so much more fun. On the Sith Master, if you get hit, you fall over and probably get killed before you can get back up. So you get very very frustrated at the long time it takes to get back up. If unresponsive controls make you take a hit or two, you die. If you die, you go back to a previous save and have to slog your way back through enemies that are tougher than you.
On easy, if you get knocked down: who cares if it takes 5 seconds to get back up? You could take 5 minutes, and you still won't die. Dodgy controls make you fall down a bottomless pit? Who cares, just 3 or 4 force repulses and you're back where you were.
Usually, easy mode means that the game forgives you for your mistakes. In this, it's like the game forgives you for it's mistakes. And when the game is just making mistakes, rather than making mistakes and punishing you for it, it's much more enjoyable.

Game is a lot more fun if you never, ever, play it like they intend you to.
That is, starting off as a skilless noob who has to learn slowly over the course of the game.
But, I find Sithlord is a good balance ground for me. It's difficult enough that I must concentrate, but one mistake doesn't always lead to instant death unless I'm being a twit. (Twit is relative to my past performance related to my current performance, it's not meant to be a comparison to anyone else)
If I just wanna smash stuff though I play on Sithwarrior. I use apprentice for testing stuff.

guys, there are two endings? how do you alter the game to get a differant ending? the ending I got was
I locked lightning with the emperor and then blew up and died because I spared him, so I think this is the light side ending? so how do i get the dark side ending?

Well,
After you fight Vader, you follow him into the Emperor's throne room, and the Emperor gets into it with Kota. When you have control again, you'll notice that you can follow the walkway to the left-ish and fight the Emperor, OR, you can jump the railing to the right and finish off Vader.
Putting Revenge above saving Kota is the the path to the Dark Side.

Instead of charging the Emperor and defending the founders of the Rebellion, jump down and finish off Vader. By attacking you prove that you are more interested in vengence than defense.
EDIT: Or, you can read the above description as well. Damn my slow typing with bold!
OHHH i didn't realise, thnaks a bunch. how exciting!
Yeah, it's a little non-obvious that you can get a second ending. Though, I think it's actually a good way to show two differnt points of view. I think of it like this...
The designers let you decide how you want to proceed. Do you care enough that you want to protect Kota? Or is it more important for you to finish Vader? They don't make it obvious that you can finish Vader, but if you look, you can see him there, waiting. If, instead, you come out of that previous cutscene, going "I must help them!" and run for them, disregarding Vader, then it plays out that way. Though something positive can be said for games where your actions can change the ending and having those choices come up all through the game, I believe that this method, a sudden choice that depends on you behaving how you want to behave, also has merit.
Myself, I reacted how I felt at the moement, when it occured. Towards that end, I got the Light Side ending. It was only later that I realized that I had made a choice at that point. That realization was kind of a "Hmmm, interesting" moment for me. The choice is thrown at you without any preface or big moment set up. It just was. I liked that.

Actually, apparently Vader puts his research ships in deep space out of the way of normal empire traffic and they are there for the long haul. Considering the length of even modern day sea trips, a deep space trip using a few dozen handpicked special forces would be easy to disappear for as long as he wanted.

Haha, it's awesome to see the Apprentice and a Force using boss use Force Push at the same time and send each other across the stage. I've been having a lot of cinematic fights.
It's very Harry Potter-esque. LOVE IT!!!!!!! I also like that there are different mini-games depending on which got locked together.
What I really love about the boss battles is that while it's difficult to pull off, you can still do some pretty badass moves on them. I've shown my love for Saber Slam and the aerial combos that follow, but I also enjoy using Grip to grab them midair/midbounce and send them flying.

I turned off Advanced Force today, and I think I see what you're saying about the velocity on the throws. A tap is too little, though, it's more of a micro-hold (on 360); if you under time it, they don't get thrown, but if you hold too long, you get a normal-speed throw.

Yeah, I think the double tap was forcing me to tap it the right speed and let go and the second tap was unneccessary. A hard rev long enough to depress the whole trigger and instantly let it go did the same trick.
I'm not completely sure.
But I think it depends on weight of the object too.
And I think a second press might deliver extra velocity.
It's really weird and I can't seem to find enough experimental subjects. I'm going to need thousands of trials with something this subtle! 8-)
About all I do know is that holding both sticks to the left or right will rip even huge enemies off their feet instantly and bounce stormtroopers off walls so hard they rebound off it for several feet before they stop being upright.
another thing with advanced, you can keep the target on them and just hit force again and do it again.
Using this method you can fling someone sideways off a cliff, then as soon as the grip throw motion has ended, throw them down.
Or fling someone straight forward then around a corner.
I also think turning off advanced force makes you connect with other objects more. That is, the game goes oh he threw it where's the nearest object to connect it to? And with the packed nature of most of the levels, this means most of the time it helps you rather than hinders you when throwing. A perfect example is I did the advanced grip and it threw two guys straight up and one of them straight forward into another guy.
It also seems that you can pick up corpses, you just have to let go of target instead.
Btw I'm pretty sure if you do something mind bogglingly insane as far as a stormtrooper is concerned, such as take the shield off a commander then throw him through the skybox, they will stop shooting you and just stand and watch it and say something that indicates their shock. I had a shadow trooper do that after I aerial striked his commander, pushed him off his feet and turned him into a twinkle in the sky. He's just staring upwards at the spot his commander dissapeared and says the "this is going to end badly" line.
I like to think they are together again now, drifting through the endless void.

About your spoiler
As far as I could tell, they knew Vader was working on something, but they didn't know what. Beyond that, Vader knew that he would kill the whole ship, so even if they all knew about him, word still wouldn't get out.
But he was in there for around 6 months! Surely the crew would not be entirely the same over that time. Surely Vader could not be certain that someone wouldn't get sick, head home for whatever reason, retire, or whatever else. 6 months is an awfully long time to not lose any crew members.
He's Vader. The threat of Vader hunting you down and gripping you, your family, your next door neighbors and the fact that these starships have full facilities means that nobody would have to leave for a loooong time.
Actually, apparently Vader puts his research ships in deep space out of the way of normal empire traffic and they are there for the long haul. Considering the length of even modern day sea trips, a deep space trip using a few dozen handpicked special forces would be easy to disappear for as long as he wanted.

It was a silly argument, I didn't want to get too cerebral with my answer :P
I managed to get a Repeater-Rodian stuck sort of on-top and inside of a large junk wall in the first Raxxas Prime level. He kept shooting at me, until I knocked him down again with a piece of junk.
Gah, I spent an hour this morning and couldn't make it to even the first save point on the last level. That is a room of death!
Yes, yes it is...
I know I didn't clear it out the past couple of times I did it. The Enemies kept respawning. So, after playing for about 30 minutes, I tried a trick. Jumped above the "glowing blue" panels, started charging Repulse, released it, and then fell through the floor, into the next save point.
In other words, you don't HAVE to fight. Do that right off the back if you want. Grab the Holocrons first, though.
Good luck.

Hey guys if you go to mission select and hit "Load last save point" when you are at a boss it restarts just before the boss fight.
So win or lose, because of those qtes which you can hit pause in, you can practise them to your hearts content.
I did so much damage to kota in one combo he skipped his middle scene and it just went straight to the qte when I dashed at him and hit saber.

Take that as you will, I haven't confirmed this.
Yeah, things like that happen through out the game. I think it really does a job of showing how Vader got to where he was in the OT. Also why I think a lot of people are saying you'll want to watch the OT right after finishing the game.

I uploaded this while I was sleeping.
This video was just me trying to recreate what I'd done earlier, but I never managed to get in the right situation to throw them when they were just about to hit me.

Guess it doesn't help that I haven't played the game either.
Haven't tested it though, so your mileage may vary.
Don't enter it if you haven't found the costumes you can get from holocrons, because the code will delete the holocrons and give you the costume, so you will always have 14/15 on that level.
Yeah, I am kinda surprised at the lack of sand boxy things like that in the PS3/Xbox360 versions.
I would love a wave after wave after wave of Storm Troopers on a giant cliff. Just tossing shit and throwing shit all over the place.
It's very Harry Potter-esque. LOVE IT!!!!!!! I also like that there are different mini-games depending on which got locked together.
The other question is at the same time: what is Juno doing on that ship?
Well,
Putting Revenge above saving Kota is the the path to the Dark Side.
EDIT: Or, you can read the above description as well. Damn my slow typing with bold!
Yeah, it's a little non-obvious that you can get a second ending. Though, I think it's actually a good way to show two differnt points of view. I think of it like this...
I mean, all you need as a human is food, a place to shit, a place to sleep and something not actively killing you. Isn't that the definition of non front lines military service?
