I didn't kill her mother! It was the hunter you see her killing in the second screen. I thought it was very humourous especially since i stumbled upon the whole scene just in time to see the hunter shoot her. However I did kill bambi and thumper and whoever the skunk was after just to see if anything happened. Nothing happened .
There is one huge crystal tree on a spire, and a forest of smaller ones, south of Dalaran (area called Crystalsong Forest). The area is really really docile (Some deer and some wolves, that's about it, the wolves are l74 or so).
In general the improved lighting and effects and such really shows in WotLK really shows. In stills, it looks ok to great on high end machines, but while playing, it's incredibly awesome.
Having the low amount of textures turns out to be a really, really good choice. I bought WAR, and it's downright ugly compared to WoW.
Yeah the shadows are downright amazing. It is so nice that since I got my new machine (still on a small screen, but eh, all settings maxed, running tons of crap in the background, and no hitches), I could actually see on the ground what was flying overhead... When it turns slightly dark, and you look up, and it's because it's a dragon flying overhead... now that breeds immersion.
I gotta adopt Mr. Bigglesworth with Critter Bites one of these weeks; he despawns after the timer runs out, apparently preventing people from killing him.
The combat was fun, but didn't really work very well in PvP. They even recently dumbed it down to try and compensate for the fact that one-button casters ruined meleers in PvP.
I also found it hilarious that they gave a ranged magic nuke class heals. And a shield. Yeah.

I'm fortunate enough to have a machine that runs WoW at max settings, 1900x1200 with 4x AA forced.
I'll post some screenies tonight/tomorrow.
The next graphic improvement I hope to see from WoW is improved Water Shaders.

WoW does pretty well with its graphics, honestly.
The only MMO I"ve played that has stunningly gorgeous zones is Lord of the Rings, anyway.
