It's a beautiful day
The doubters can suck it, and
so can Clark fans. What a bunch of unimaginative yokels and/or badge fetishists. But this isn't really about them, but
me. Or if you'd prefer
us Biden fans, who've waited too long for this. VP at last, VP at last, thank God almighty, he's our VP at last.
It's a bumper sticker I can believe in!

So, the questions I posted in the previous thread, before it got locked.
Even though he has said he won't stay on, I really like what Robert Gates has been doing as SECDEF and hope that Obama keeps him around. Also, even though Clark was probably my first choice as a VP pick, Biden is awesome and will probably work out better in the end.
So why is Obama worth voting for?

I'm sure someone has a link with a summary of candidate positions.
Quite simply, his predisposition to using force rather than diplomacy (re: Iran) would stretch the US military when it is already at or near its limits. Sure, force numbers in Iraq are going to be drawn down, but those forces are likely to be employed in Afghanistan. In order to meet further military commitments, which McCain's hawkish policies are likely to require, his presidency would likely have to institute some form of draft. Granted, this is unlikely if reality sets in in the McCain camp, but I wouldn't count on that.
McCain's quote seems to have been misunderstood. I doubt he actually supports the draft.
That said, you still ought to figure out which candidate best represents your views and interests, the winner is still going to have a profound effect on your life.

Well if he can't be drafted for two years, he probably can't vote now either.
Anyways, I love this choice. Obama's most vocal critic as his VP? Brilliant!
dude is like the least charismatic person ever
I Would first decide what issues are important to you. And try to come up with your ideal positions on them (not that these can't change). Then try to decide which candidate care about your issues the most and agree about them. You can look at Obama's website to see his plans, but almost as importantly is how likely you think he is to do something about it. If you have any specific policy or issue questions, this forum is more than happy to answer them.
I don't want to go to war, at all.

Sorry mate, totally miss read your post...
It's fine.
I actually hate Mcain, a lot.
I've just never looked one way or another at Obama, and I'm reading the issues thing now.
Although, I guess it's a bit pointless since I can't vote.

I mean, if you get one person to vote, you've effectively had as much of an impact on things as if you'd cast the vote yourself.

Not really pointless, it's good to know as much as you can about your elected officials. Plus, read the positions now and follow them (McCain and Obama) during the first term... will help you get a sense of how trustworthy either one is in four years time, when you'll probably be able to vote and either of them goes for reelection.
The President cannot just start a draft. It has to be voted on. For the US to actually reinstate a draft then something really bad & screwed up happened. In short you'll have bigger things to worry about. And if you have an older brother or are an only son you might not have to worry about combat or you could join the Coast Guard.
DUE TO RECENT UNDISCLOSED EVENTS, MY VOTE IS NOW WITH OBAMA
With the discussion I had with several people the other day I still think the Vp should run for office instead of being a nomation
I highly doubt Mcain would start another war knowing how popular the current one in various theathers is
That smirk/smile is Biden's way of dealing with a stuttering problem.
I knew it had to be Biden, he was playing it way too cool.
McCain doesn't seem like the type of person who care's how popular the current war is. At least thats the vibe I get from him. He seems like the type (just like George W Bush, coincidentally) that gets an idea in his head and then its his way or the highway.
The VP used to be the presidential candidate who got the 2nd most votes, which is essentially them running for office, and that didn't work out so well. I think the current setup works well enough.
He's long winded, lets not kid ourselves. And he says dumb stuff sometimes. And a few mild sound bytes could potentially hurt.
But still a decent pick. For people worried about Obama getting assassinated, this will calm them since Biden is no Quayle (idiot) or Cheney (Sith).
"There will be more wars" is practically his slogan. He's bellicose on Iran and Georgia and wants to keep a permanent presence in Iraq where he believes the war is going very well.

Edit: Wait a minute, it really was at 3am? That is fucking awesome.
Basically, I got mine at 1 AM PST. So it was around there.
Still not taking sides either was as I don't know enough about Obama or Mcain but I swear I think Mcain actually enjoys war.

What does Joe Biden think about Obama?
"Yes, he's ready now as I stated he could be."
So Joe Lieberman confirmed? Since anyone who's run against McCain have also talked about him in a "I'm better than" way. And obviously, that'd be the worst thing ever.
The sound bite ends with "better off-".
I'd be honored running against McCain too, but only because we'd be better off... not electing Dumbfuck McDoesn'texist instead. I'd vote for McCain over that guy.
Let 'em eat fucking pineapples!
Joe Biden is Obama's most vocal critic? HAHAHA.
Maybe you should have paid attention during the primaries.
Clearly experience is the defining factor in success in high office.
