I find Beyonce really irritating and untalented, so while I liked the idea of Will Smith as Captain America, I think this is just a case of a musician overestimating her abilities.

Anyway, Monica Belluci would be tops.

I've got no probs with switching in different races when race isn't a part of their origin (like Kingpin) but WW is all about Greek mythology. Even if there aren't many actual Greek actresses, they need someone who might actually pass as Greek.

I think that depends on the script.

Ideally, I'd want someone older than the women who're usually cast in superhero films.

I always think of WW as being late 30s, so. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Superman was the youngest of the trinity.

Edit: Wiki says she's 27, no way that's too old for WW. WW's not a teen hero.

Um... she's also an actress. Real life doesn't really matter when you are an actor. That's a stupid thing to say.

That doesn't mean she should look and act like she's in her 20's. She reaches the ideal age physically and mentally before stopping, and the ideal age is a bit more mature than Beyonce.

Alright, name a movie where she hasn't had a french accent and where she has demonstrated any ability to get into the shape that one would expect a women who kills monsters with her bare hands to be in.

If we were having this conversation prior to X-Men, you'd be complaining about how Hugh Jackman is best known for his role in Oklahoma!

Frankly, acting skill is a bit more important than prior experience with a particular kind of role, and if we're debating about Beyonce then it's clear that there aren't a ton of notable female actors to choose from for this role.

Seriously? People generally don't look that good at her age, or ever.

And I really don't see how someone who's still doing lingerie ads should be disqualified for her physical appearance.

Considering that Wonder Woman is essentially the allegorical character of Lady Liberty, which began in Greece and was used very heavily in France, I find now problem with a hint of a French accent. At least looking at it that way she looks less like "America Woman."

So if they're immortal white people and she's made from clay, then her having a different skin tone wouldn't be unusual. Also, if everyone's made from clay, there could be a plethora of skin-tones based on the area on the island the clay was pulled from.

In the mid-1980s a storyline took place called Crisis on Infinite Earths in which all comics in the DC Universe ceased to exist and re-started with all new origins. When this happened it was explained that the Amazons were created by the goddess Aphrodite from the souls of women who had died at the hands of men, and were given new and stronger bodies, made from clay transformed into flesh and blood. These Amazons, like the Pre-Crisis versions, escaped Heracles (the Greek name for Hercules) and his men to an isolated and magically protected island, this one called Themyscira after the lost capitol city of the Amazons' former homeland. In this new land, they were granted eternal youth and beauty. Some Amazons chose to remain behind, however, and, lacking immortality, formed the hidden nation of Bana-Mighdall.

I guess in Pre-Crisis they were normal women made immortal by Paradise Island magic.

She was meant to be Hippolyta's daughter, which is why they look like each other. It doesn't really make sense for the god's to randomly make Hippolyta's daughter a different race.

Still, you could make Hippolyta black as well, and make the Amazons ethnically diverse while you're at it. It'll piss of the nerds, but it'd be worth it if it meant accommodating the best choice for a lead.

I think that would actually be a better direction to take it in. The Amazons are supposed to promote peace, so why not have them be racially diverse?
