Would kinda be a waste of SS syrum to put Cap in a desk job. Ya he's brilliant tactican guy as well, but come on! Look at those pecs! In some cases they seem to follow you around the room.
Cap will be back doing exactly what he did before because he is kind of a big deal, people know him and thus he cannot be allowed to change.

He could easily do an official endorsement of Bucky and still get plenty of action as Director just as Fury and Stark did.
Heh, that picture makes it look like his chest is swinging out on hinges. Captain America, now with new Utility Chest!
Maybe they're going to rotate everyone around. Like:
Tony Stark: Iron Man -> Head of Shield -> Rulk
Bucky: Bucky -> Winter Soldier -> Captain America -> Nomad
Norman Osborn: Green Goblin -> Head of Thunderbolts -> Iron Patriot
Steve Rogers: Captain America -> Head of Shield -> Iron Man
Peter Parker: Spider-man -> Iron Spider -> Black Widower
Bruce Banner: Hulk -> Hulk the Barbarian -> Rulk -> Bulk (I'm calling dibs on "Bulk" for the inevitable "Blue Hulk")
Soon, everyone is going to have been everyone else. When a title starts flagging, just switch the characters around. Cash in on the initial interest of a character as a new hero, then when people start complaining about the good old days, switch back and re-capitialize.
I liked the reprint in #600. The Red Skull's diabolical new plan? A bow and arrow! But with really sharpened arrows that can apparently pierce Cap's shield. Because they're really sharp.
During an Ed Brubaker/Steve Epting panel at HeroesCon it was revealed that the regular Cap book is going on hiatus during Reborn. Issue 601 is the last till probably November or December. I'm actually fine with this since I want to pick up Reborn in singles and I don't like adding stuff to my pull list anymore.

What happens when Reborn is inevitably delayed because of Hitch? Instead of having one Cap book a month with another appearing let's say every other month, you will have no Cap books a month.
The solution: Make Captain America a USAgent or American Eagle book for a few issues until Reborn is finished, like how Iron Man turned into War Machine. Tangents are a great thing.
Tom Breevort stated in an interview that in case Hitch falls behind then Butch Guice will pick up the slack. Brubaker also stated at HeroesCon that Reborn will come out on time and praised Hitch's work.

Guice should have just been given the book, he's always been a good artist who's put in his fair share of work over the years (he drew the first issues of X-Factor back in the day, the first issue during a hurricane no less), give him a big event to shine on.
Goddamnit, why are they pulling this shit. It was bad enough that Batman got put on hiatus for BFtC. Now they're doing the same thing on Cap? That stupid. I hated it when DC did it. And I will hate it when Marvel does it.
except for in this case, it's still being written by the writer of the main series, and they put two good artists on it
I mean, it's basically captain america 602-whatever but it'll sell a lot more with the mainstream attention it's getting, and because it's an IMPORTANT MINISERIES

Ah I knew there was a Cap thread somewhere. So now that Reborn is finally over, I'd say it was a pretty good story to bring Steve back. True it was very different from Brubaker's previous stories but it had an epic enough feel and if you read his entire Cap run from the start then everything (to me at least) seems to make sense. Anyway can't wait to see how Brubaker will take Bucky and Steve into Marvel's "Heroic Age".

Cap Reborn was pretty damn awful, especially considering who was writing it.
It wasn't awful by any stretch of the imagination. It wasn't great, and it certainly wasn't the resurrection story to match the great death story a couple of years ago, but Brubaker didn't Loeb it or anything.
The conclusion felt strangely rushed considering the delays and (I believe) addition of an extra issue.
The struggle for Cap's body is over rather quickly and doesn't at all feel like the (potentially) final confrontation of two arch-enemies who embody opposing ideals. Meanwhile, Giant Red Skull felt like a completely random development that would be more at home in Avengers than Cap. Again, it'd have been better to see the psychic battle developed further rather than cutting it off to accommodate another generic fight scene.
Finally, I don't like the idea of Sin being scarred and potentially becoming Skull's successor. The contrast between her appearance and demeanor was enjoyable, but now it seems she is destined to become another cliche.
I can't believe I haven't seen this thread. I want a blue dot on this thread.
I'm sort of waiting for the Cap Reborn trade before I read it in Border's with no intention of buying it. I was honestly a big fan of the mantle of Captain America being passed on to Bucky. The fact that Cap isn't going to jump right back into the thick of it is the only redeeming factor of Reborn in my eyes.

He's probably the only person whose art makes me avoid a book like the plague, even if I think that I otherwise might have actually liked it.
I don't get people's hate of Liefield's art. Sure, it's not exactly anatomical but it stylised and looks cool. Personally I really like it, it's proper escapism guys have huge muscles chicks are have super-bodies stuff. Seriously, that guy in the artcile bitches about stuff you can complain about any artist and some of the art in there is actually pretty cool. Fuck him.

I think some points of the article are bashing more than anything, but if you have ever even sat in a drawing class you'd understand everything that is wrong with most of these. Perspective in comics is key to emphasize non-moving pictures. Style over proper form will never win me over. I think it's pretty valid to be upset you're (potentially) paying for this work. Go over to the Artist's Corner forums and you can see plenty of people who correctly use fundamentals and then create their own style. I'm not saying that the art has to be spot on, but when it's that blatantly bad it's almost a slap in the face.

But art is an exercise in entertainment, it's only purpose is to try and entertain the reader. I enjoy it, so how can you call it technically bad, when it's achieving it's purpose? Saying it's technically wrong is surely an exercise in futility when it comes to art, as there are no real rules other than entertain the viewer. I will accept that it is anatomically incorrect but that is a complaint about it's realism, and realism does not define quality.
I'm not denying the entertainment factor. I think the point most of us are making is that, for us, it would just be that much more enjoyable if the art was better.
It can be technically poor but entertaining at the same time. Cf: Jean-Claude Van Damme.
But is it technically poor if it entertains, as it is doing exactly what it is desgined to do?

Saying you don't like it and you wish it was better is fine. But saying that it is technically wrong, that it breaks artistic rules, I would argue, is pointless, as their are no artistic rules except one, entertain the viewer. I am entertained so it is "technically" fine.

Ok, I really don't want to go back and forth on this, so hopefully we can get over this. There are in fact rules and guidelines to drawing. I agree that conformity to these does not always need to be met in order for success, but there are some that are just practices that good artists follow. Style is defined as: (Fine Arts & Visual Arts / Art Terms) a distinctive, formal, or characteristic manner of expression in words, music, painting, etc. If you choose to express your women with huge breasts and small waists, I'm not complaining, I enjoy that. To make a woman's waist so small she'd have to carry her organs along in a shopping bag stretches your mind to accept something that is not plausible. To not be able to draw feet, a hand grasping an object or even simply adhering to the way the human body can actually contort is something that is important. The argument that comics present us with a world of unbelievable things is valid, but to a degree. Most things in the comic universe keep to some amount of realism - people need oxygen to breath, nourishment to survive, and (for most people) gravity holds us to the ground. Shit, look at that Captain America and tell me that doesn't strike you as odd. The point of art is not just to entertain, go look in a museum, there are plenty of pieces that no one enjoys. Art is meant to portray a message, regardless if it's good or bad. Most of us feel that Liefield's art is sloppy and careless and the only message it portrays is "Fuck you, pay me."

If so, I'm going to be so fucking rich
Although to get off the Liefield wagon without feet, Cap has had a good stable of artists the past 15 years:
Garney
Andy Kubert
Dan Jurgens
Cassady
Jae Lee
Lee Weeks
Chris Bachalo
Scot Eaton
Steve Epting
Mike Perkins
Luke Ross
Butch Guice
All of these artists are good, and with the exception of Cassady and Kubert pretty much springboarded them to better things.
