:(
So CapCom isn't on the exhibitor list, much to my dismay. This means two things:

1) No Tat vs Capcom. UGH
2) No SFIV. Double UGH

But, wait! There is hope!

And our hope... is a bowling alley in Tacoma.
sf4_post_logo.png
COME PLAY SFIV
Why? Cause I'm gonna. And It's SFIV. Besides, what else are you going to do friday night? Play Rock Band? Listen to Coulton?

No thanks, I'm good. I can do that all the time.
I can't play SFIV all the time. :)

WHO: Fight fans and people who wanna see SFIV in 720p... in an arcade.
WHAT: STREET FIGHTER FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUR
WHERE: Narrows Plaza Bowling, Tacoma, Wa. (30 min drive) DIRECTIONS: http://tinyurl.com/3kgnsk
WHEN: FRIDAY, 10PM. Roll out at that time, anyway. The bowling alley is open until 2AM, so that should be enough time (hopefully). I know this will be going the same time as the concert, but all I care about is the OneUps, so it's on you. Free will, etc.
WHY: Seriously? It's SFIV! If that isn't enough, then this expedition probably isn't for you.

RSVP here. I has a car but I only have room for two people. I am willing to give rides in exchange for buying me dinner afterwards lol.

POST UP OR GET OUT
see you at PAX

The Gameworks right in downtown Seattle doesn't have a SFIV cabinet? That is dumb.

Gameworks takes forever before getting new games. To this day, I don't think they ever got Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection.

Honestly? I had more fun at Ground kontrol then I did at game works. Its not a great arcade. Its only alright. It would of been better if they had some of the best machines working.

Street Fighter is the worst game ever.

I was driving some out-of-towner friends around, and I kept complaining about being blinded. They responded with "You see, where we come from, people tend to wear Sunglasses." I retorted with a simple "You people tend to have sun."

Never could get into Street Fighter. Especially trying to learn with the competitive creepers at Gameworks looming around the corner. If you walk up to it to try and learn they'll jump on against you and destroy you. I'm a Virtua Fighter guy myself, and luckily they have a beautiful sit down double cabinet.

Bullshit! :( There's posts on SRK and a few other spots that say it's there.

I'll have to look into this. Thanks for the heads-up moe :P

EDIT: Moe confuse me. Tacoma has it unless I find out otherwise. Just talked to a guy who played it there. $1 per play :P

    oh, lol.

Well, in any case, GameWorks likely won't ever get it. Here's why:

    1) It's not officially released in the US yet.
    2) The kit costs $12,000. That's right. $12,000. Reason is you have to buy it in a pair (for versus play).
    3) Home console release in the USA is scheduled for February.

That equals little to no profit (even a loss!) for most operators. And that's assuming they're willing to cough up $12k for it in the first place.

There's a Ground Kontrol in Seattle? There's an arcade called Ground Kontrol in Portland, OR, too. That place is awesome.

I might be down for a field trip for some new Street Fighter.

The machine is there and ready. People been rippin' on it for days apparently. Talked to a couple people out there that play it.

If anyone wants to ride with me just let me know, I got room for two people at this moment.

I seriously hope there is SFIV at PAX cause I'd rather not leave, but if there isn't... I'm so going to Tacoma hahaha.

CapCom isn't on the list though so I'm not holding my breath. :(

We can always steal it and bring it to PAX, then return it. Can you imagine the amount of coinage that the
bowling alley would find in that machine? I bet they wouldn't even press charges...

It would be awesome if we could convicne them to loan it to PAX. What do they have to lose? Seems to
me that they could only profit from the situation.

I'd like to see this happen. Someone light a Khoo symbol. Burn a sheep. Cut out some Khoo puns.

edit- visiting the site itself on a late saturday night for the only SFIV in the county? If it's anything like ANY popular arcade, you'll have a 15-30min wait to play.

I never even knew they made a DR cabinet. And I was there just about 2 months ago and they did NOT have that.

It's probably worth noting, to non-WA residents, that Tacoma isn't incredibly close to Seattle...

That being said, I kind of want to go. I'm sort of in a rut though, as I may be in the TF2 tournament still if things go well for my team.

Gameworks isn't most operators :P Seattle Gameworks has a few Japanese games, has a generic sit-down dual-cabinet fighter setup (last I saw it had Virtua Fighter 5, one player per cab), occasionally gets ungodly expensive games... they imported a full deluxe cabinet of DDR2 Extreme when it was brand new, I'm sure that was around $10k. Of course, lately they've been rather slow at getting new games (and in fact recently removed their giant 2-story game), and even maintaining some of their most popular games.

IT's also worth noting that they are owned by SEGA. They seem to be fast at getting the latest peripheral-based SEGA machines.

You are correct, it isn't out. Nope, not a beta. There are a few locations in the US who are importing the kits (SF4 dedicabs are crazy expensive right now). By few I mean, less than 15 right now.

And I'd be down for this but like PikaPuff said, there will be a long wait. And for me, that is not ideal-enough conditions to make a side-trip during my PAX trip. ah well, hopefully will get to play it sometime soon.

No, Ground Kontrol is strictly Portland. :(
