Another question, how do shields work in WAR? I dont think they give armor, yet only block rating. Does this just give a chance at blocking attacks to negate the damage all-together or what? Does this work for caster spells against you (Im sure not and I hope not, but just wanted to ask)?

Also, Sword+Board or Two Hander for PvP?

This all depends on context. As far as Sword and Shield or 2h, well that's up to you. If you know you can get awesome healing, just go in an be defensive and try and absorb as much attention as possible to get the other more fragile yet more damage dealing classes in to slice and dice.

As far as shields go, I think they just give you a bonus to your armor statistic and also a bonus to the block %.

I don't remember shields listing an armor bonus, just block rating. As far as what they can block, I've seen my guy block everything from mundane swords/arrows to Bright Wizard fireballs.

I'm considering playing a Magus despite them apparently being kind of underpowered, at least if the pet issues get fixed. The first Career Tactic of the Demonology tree lets your demon summons be instant-casts which seems like it would make the class more fluid in PvP, and it also leaves you enough points to still max out another Mastery Path (minus one Mastery spell or Career Tactic from that tree). Though if the Firewyrm of Tzeentch is as cool as I imagine I could see myself going all demonology... How easy is it to respec?

For example, this spec gets you the instant demons and all the AoE goodness of the Changing tree.

Alternately this spec seems like it could be well suited for smaller fights, you get double-damage turret and Warping Blast (the knockback/slow spell) from the Havoc mastery and the Firewyrm of Tzeentch (please be good).

It's unknown if they'll be underpowered come release, as they apparently have a rather large buff coming their way. And the Firewyrm of Tzeentch? Awesome but impractical and underpowered (this pretty much describes demonology itself pretty well.) Not that it appears that often, it's a tier four morale which means that it takes awhile to get to.

Though a lot of the mentioned changes are aimed at boosting the Demonology line.

Edit: Oh, and on respeccing... at the moment it's as simple as clicking "respecialize". No one is sure if it will stay that way, but most are hoping.

They did not give the CE beta and preview weekend people access to the beta forums. There are not going to be official forums post launch, so no point upgrading them to handle 100,000 or whatever people for two weeks.

They are going to use the Warhammer Herald for information post-launch and have a presence on the Vault Network and Warhammer Alliance boards.

Heh, I was definately wanting to hit E for medic on my Swordmaster.... Actually, I think this is a damn good idea for Mythic to implement, in many of the RvR situations, you need to heal people who aren't grouped with you, etc, and it would be neat if they could make the red cross pop up above them (as long as they were actually hurt and couldn't spam it). I'd totally go for that on my war-priest.

I played a WP to level 8 or so (all scenarios) and I just couldn't find the class to be fun at all. Their healing was very underpowered and it was so hard to keep up your righteous fury to keep healing that I rarely healed. As a healer the class is pretty bad, they are pretty much a tank with some small heals instead of all the defensive utilities the tanks get.

User Settings -> Health Bars -> Friendly Players = Hurt

That makes it so the health bar shows up over friendly players when they get hurt. Great for healing out of group in open RvR and scenarios.

He mentioned "to level 8 or so". He might have not played much at level eight or may have only made it close to level eight, as the Warrior Priest/Disciple suck until level 8. Once they hit 8 they stop dieing and healing others becomes pretty easy if you have another person's soft flesh to hit.

We could really use more support for the Order guild. The temporary forums are linked to in the first post, so hop on over and give some input. We need some numbers to represent for a revote of the guild name (Candymancers), and anyone that can do forum / website design would be highly appreciated.

It gets easier once you hit 20 and get the group heal.

That said, the melee healers are the hardest careers to play well. You have to juggle your offensive target and staying in melee range while picking defensive targets to heal. It takes a lot of coordination and player skill, but they are very powerful in the hands of a good player.

Unfortunately, most people that play them aren't very good and end up self-healing almost exclusively.

I know for the DoK alone they just keep getting better as you go up.

At Rank 8 you get Rend Soul, which is a nice attack that damages your offensive target and heals your defensive for 250% the damage done.

Then at 20 you get a group heal, at 26 you get a cheap group HoT.
