Just wondering if anyone knows if there is going to be any DDR machines this year. and if so what versions?
I was driving some out-of-towner friends around, and I kept complaining about being blinded. They responded with "You see, where we come from, people tend to wear Sunglasses." I retorted with a simple "You people tend to have sun."

I already asked this question, the answer is yes, as for the versions, I haven't been told what versions there will be, which do you like? I like Max2 followed by Extreme2, other than that I (personally) don't really like the other versions
eh, i like supernova. just hopin they have supernova2 here or maybe a preview of DDRX

Just to clarify - there won't be DDR machines this year. I'm not sure where you heard otherwise, but just to put down the official word, we had them officially coming from Konami but in short, their event folks ended up pulling the trigger a little late this year. We welcome them in 2009!

Right across the street is the biggest arcade in WA, Gameworks. It's literally across the street. They always have the newest version of DDR, and typically have one or two of the older machines as well.
The arcade is two floors tall, and it's very convenient that it is next to the biggest gaming convention in North America.

Yeah I was gonna mention that too... They have good food too if anybody wants to avoid lines at the convention center. Just don't go Friday night, Turbine is taking it over for a few hours much like ArenaNet did last year.
Anyway, looks like that's the only spot for DDR craziness this year.

while this is a little disappointing, last year i had so little energy left over that i did not even play DDR. and now with how much pax has expanded i doubt i would want to play ddr anyway.
i do however expect the machines in game works to get worked over because pax will lack DDR

Supernova 2 is pretty much garbage. 20 odd new songs, and 3 of them are good. Supernova would be best.
Maybe someone can have some decent home version pads(re: Red Octane's) at the console freeplay room? I don't mind bringing my PS2 versions along(MAX, MAX2, Extreme, Konamix, even Disney Mix).
And while I highly doubt it, are there any Pump(NX/NX2/Exceed/Zero) cabinets at that Gameworks, or anywhere in Seattle?
I'd be down for some DDR arcade or not. Home versions are just fine by me, and the price is good too. ;-)

If someone has a PS2 at a certain hotel room, we could always set something up there. :P And no, I'm not dragging my Fusion pad on an airplane. The box is bigger than my luggage.
Well, I guess I could, but I'd have to hurt someone if the airline lost it.
Fuck. I don't see myself going to gameworks. I played DDR in passing between one show and the next last time I was at PAX. Sucks, but on the plus side I won't get as sweaty and smelly this year.

We plan to be console rigging it up, if someone has pads and games then sounds good to me. If there is no PS2 available I may be able to swindle one and bring it down. Our hotel has RCA ports so it's all good there. 8-)
I hope to be rocking out the rhythm games personally, I'm hoping the rest of the roomies are into them as well. :P You'll have to come back me up possibly.
edit: depends on schedule and the other parties going on in the room, but if there's a small group needing a DDR fix I'm ok with hosting something for a bit.

I'll definitely be bringing no small amount of rhythm games along, it's the ones that require peripherals that'll be tricky.
That just leaves out Beatmania, DDR, Exceed, and Guitar Hero(I'd bet money that'll be covered).
I'll leave the guitar peripherals to someone that is not flying as well. Besides, I only got GH 2/80s. Maybe I'll bring the discs just in case, but I bet everyone is up on GH3 more.

I have GH1 and 2, so I could bring 1 if need be.

So for those of us who want some five arrow stepping:
Washington - Seattle - Seattle Waterfront Arcade
1301 Alaskan Way
Pier 57 - Bay Pavillion
Seattle, WA 98101
DX / $0.75
There's a Pump It Up: NX2 in the area.
About a block away from the convention area. I'll try to check it out if time allows.
you if you think about it, this would have been a good chance for konami to get a test run out of DDRx. see what needs improvements before it actually gets put onto the market and everything ya know?

Did not know about this. I think I'll have to stop in there for some Freestyle action. Depending on how late they're open, maybe some drunken freestyle action.:rotate:
GW won't have one unless something changed from last year which isn't likely since GW never have Pump.

That ain't a block away from the convention area Convention Center is on 8th street, the waterfront is beyond 1st street. *And*, you can't really go straight there - the streets in this part of Seattle end at the Pike Place Market. On foot, I guess you could walk down to Pike Place Market, enter the market, cross the skybridge, take the elevator down to the lower level of Seattle, *then* go a block to get to the waterfront From there I think it's a couple blocks to the left to Pier 57.
I actually tried that game once - only time I've been in that arcade. Unfortunately, at the time its music wasn't loud enough to hear easily, but that was like 6 months ago.

Yikes.
Okay, plan b is a communal road trip, because I'm not wandering the streets to find the place.
My 2 cents here, Dont go to the waterfront at night unless you like living on the edge. Has a bad repuation of things that go bump in the night. All joking aside i highly condemn going there at night.

From what I hear they had no reason to give us DDR machines because PAX isn't a well known enough event for it to be worth it for them where GenCon on the other hand is HUGE and Famous.

Oh? It's really pretty at night though. A friend of mine and I went there and I started to sing "Full Moon Sway" from Beck (the moon on the water was really pretty that night- I think it may have been full actually. It inspired me). Apparently he fell in love with me then (yikes, wasn't my intention. But I didn't PUUUNCH my friend or nothing). I guess you can go there for a romantic scene- just be sure you know how to kick ass or something (then it'd turn into romantic hero rescuing scene! Or you could just run).
I actually prefer the ignition pads to anything else- I usually play barefoot since I play at home and I don't wear shoes in the house (being Asian), and the screws on metal pads screw with my feet (ha ha, couldn't resist being a douche for a sec).
Wow... I put parentheses in every single sentence prior but one. I dunno if I should consider this an accomplishment or another moment of douchebaggery.
