This may be a bit late notice, but would anyone be interested in bringing decks to play some EDH games at PAX? Seems like a perfect time to get some good casual multi-player games in, and what can be more casual than EDH? :D Rules can be found below, if you can't figure out what I'm talking about:

http://csclub.uwaterloo.ca/~geduggan/EDH_rules.php

Since this isn't a league, we would be using the Open Play rule.

Anyone interested?

Hmm, I've never heard of this format! It sounds interesting though... if I can, I'll try to put together a deck for it. I don't know if I'll have time, but I'll give it my best shot. =)

So Open Play rule, it sounds like, means we can use any creature we want, right?

    Interesting game!

Open play rule means you can use any legendary creature you want, and if you and someone else pick the same legend and they are both in play, the legend rule does not apply. However, if you have a legendary creature as your general, and someone else has that same legend in their deck but not as their general, then the legend rule applies to their creature only. So if you have your general out and they play their non-general creature, their legend will die and yours will live.

I'd be down if it weren't for the 100 unique cards rule. Don't have enough time for that much deckbuilding left. :P

Oh, they have to be 100 unique cards? Ack, that makes it tough. I didn't realize that... I thought it just said 100 cards. I'll see what I can do, but I'm not positive I have the cards it would take to make even a decent deck in that scenario. =(

Yea the 100 unique card rule is why I figured it may be late notice :\ But it's also what makes the format so fun, once you have the deck built of course. I spent most of last week building a Niv-Mizzet deck, I literally went through every single blue/red/artifact/land/UR hybrid card on gatherer. Good thing it was a slow work week :P

I'll see if I mind lugging around my decks, but do you have a specific day you'd be wanting to play?
    I've got three currently-
    Intet the Dreamer
    Wort Boggart Auntie
    Verdeloth the Ancient.

I seem to be missing a couple things:

So your general does not need to be an Elder Dragon proper?

Are the generals they limited to being 3 or fewer colors?

So I could have, hypothetically, a primarily artifact deck?

Whenever is good for most involved, I suppose. I'm pretty open to whenever.

No, your general does not need to be an actual Elder Dragon. They just named the format that because the elder dragons inspired the format. Generals can be any color(s). Feel like playing Sliver Queen? Go for it :P Want an all-artifact deck? Karn sounds like a pretty good general for that.

    EDH is fun :)

I'm up for some games, I've got 2 decks. Rosheen and Korlash. My decks are made mainly for 1v1 play and I play at 30 life to give different decks types a chance to win (non control).

Ask around at the wizards room and I'm sure you'll find some people who will play EDH. I'm going to PAX with a group and we'll all have EDH decks.

I was trying to think up a deck for this and the list of banned cards seems very random. :P

The list of banned cards has traditionally been cards that either unfair in a multilayer environment or unfun to play again.. also, cards that are too swingy (recurring nightmare and kokusho).

And i generally have multiple decks on me so if someone comes up and see's me playing with someone, they can join in without having to have their own deck.
