I agree with most of things BJ says on his show. Sometimes I do not, but that is what freedom of speech and everyone being entitled to their own opinions is all about.
Ricker is ok, definitely an aquired taste for most.
Men's Room rawks.
Jolene is cool for just the music aspect. (pretty much she is just a straight up DJ, but very dedicated)
Steve Rock and Kevin- metalheads are out there what can I say
I listen to KISW religiously, Mens Room and Bj Shay are my favorite shows. I also like Dude its the 80's on later at night. But i agree with you Ricker is an acquired taste. I like him just not always.

Dude it's the 80's at 8! Come on, you gotta know that's the name of the show. She never calls it "Dude it's the 80's"
And yeah, that's a great show if you love Metallica and Iron Maiden!
Ooook, so wtf? BJ just siad they have not heard anything back from PA, (well the Rev told BJ they haven't).
Is there a communication mix up again?
I heard that this morning also.
At least he wasn't being a complete dong about the whole thing. He basically just said that he's really wanting to talk to Gabe and get PAX to be the biggest thing ever.
Hey Gabe, I was the one who sent you the clip. I will shoot you an email again today, but if you wanna give me a contact number as well, we can have you on tomorrow to talk about PAX and this whole thing.
I will be shooting you another email, but figured this will help.
EDIT: Also, yeah, I play WoW. On Thorium Brotherhood! Unfortunately I won't be able to make PAX this weekend, which sucks.

Horay for everyone playing nice! Thanks for posting Rev.
Very cool, I have The Rev on this and we'll see whats going on with this.
We have not heard from Gabe as of this time and date
-BJ
That's cool. It's nice to get a response. BJ said he would show up if all went well, right?
Gabe, it would be really cool if this all worked out. I love PA, and I love BJ's show, so bringing them together would be a big deal to those of us that are fans of both. However, you never have to invite Fatal1ty.

I'm anxious to see how this turns out, and good job informing the Rev about this thread, now we just need Gabe back.
Slightly off topic, anybody listen to the Men's Room yesterday and hear that guy call in saying WoW was the best game ever? Then somebody else called in an yelled "World of Warcraft SUCKS!" ...I thought it was funny
Ahh there we go! Sounds awesome! (and OMG at the console skins, I want one!)
Anyway, for those who don't wanna go, here's the post:
You might remember a few years back I got into a fight with a local radio show host named BJ Shea. Well he has since changed radio stations and apparently wants to bury the hatchet with me. He said on his show the other day that if I came back on he'd donate $1000.00 to Child's Play.
I'll be on tomorrow morning at 7:25am PST. You can hear his show on 99.9 KISW here in Seattle.

Yeah it's early for me too, but I'll probably get up and listen to it, then crash again
i should be between the airport, dropping bags off at my hotel, and the magical mystery tour around that time. if i remember and have a radio, i'll listen. in other words, i'm gonna forget.
I'm usually still sleeping around then, but because this is a special occasion, I will have to change the radio station on my alarm and actually set it tomorrow.

Well my alarm is set, This is gonna be a show that PAX and BJ Shay fans can't miss.
I don't listen to BJ... well I dont listen to morning radio shows at all really... I sleep.
But it sounds like this BJ guy is a pretty hardcore nerdster.. maybe next year he do a show from PAX if he earns the trust and support of the community.

in other news, 'the mens room' is a gay bar in seattle

i used to listen to him back in the day. i never really thought of his show as nerd or geek themed. iirc they just talk about news and stuff or discuss various topics like any talk show. A lot of times they focused on local topics.
oh, and fridays were 'eff it fridays' since BJ's show was right around quitting time on friday people were encouraged to go home early or just stop thinking about work and start thinking about 'gettin some'.
eff it fridays have probably changed now that he has a morning show.
I think his show is weekdays only, and at a time before pax even starts. but i think it would make sense for him to focus on video game news for the day. If he ever gets his mid-day timeslot back then he should totally broadcast from gameworks on pax friday. it's right across the street from the con.
Whenever something big happens on some nerd show like Battlestar, LOST, Dr. Who, etc. you can bet your ass BJ talks about it. He won't shut up about some of these shows. Also every time he interviews a Canadian or Brit, it seems like he always says "I wish I lived in your country, you guys get new Dr. Who episodes before us!"
Also any big game releases, they have a correspondent that will call in to talk about the gameplay, what's new in this version, the level of demand, etc. And BJ usually can ask somewhat educated questions about them because as I stated, he does play a lot of Xbox.
Lastly, although not related directly to BJ, one of the current KISW rock girls is a video game tester. I know because I used to work with her.
He still talks about women more than anything, don't let me give you a false impression. But I find that 80% of the time what he is talking about makes sense, and I can USUALLY see his point of view, even if I don't agree with it. That's why I listen.
wow, sounds like things have changed on his show. i dont' really remember anything like that.
back when i was listening he was still on 100.7 before it became a damn country music station
That's when I used to listen as well (also, when he was the only show on in the middle of the day, instead of just somewhere in the long line of a bunch of morning shows). It was also right before Tom Leykis...which helped.
Man, Tom lost his voice and got sentenced to nights and the Men's Room got stuck playing the same crappy music KISW plays all day instead of doing their talk format. I miss the Buzz.

yeah, i think if i were awake at that time i'd be listening to adam carolla's show on 107.7
I don't bother with commercial radio. Largely because whenever I turn it on, it's in the middle of a block of commercials.
The internet has spoiled me.
Sometimes I wonder why people bother posting in a thread... If you don't like what we are talking about, why post? We don't care.
Well, on this forum in particular.....I'd say just about everyone likes what we're talking about. It's just that most people's allegiances lie with Gabe and Penny Arcade, so you shouldn't be surprised if they pop in and say that they're not big "BJ Shea" fans (or fans of local radio in general). All they're doing is weighing in with an opinion on someone who trashed one of the founders here.
It's nice that he's willing to finally make ammends and it's probably safe to assume that regardless of their feelings about radio in general, those same people saying "I don't like commercial radio" would also be interested in listening tomorrow. If there were an easily clickable link to a radio interview with him, they'd probably click on it. Not because they like commercial radio or BJ Shea, but because they like Penny Arcade.
Personally, I understand what Houn is saying about commercial radio. I hate it too. I got a Sirius subscription because I commute upwards of 20 miles a day up and down 405....and I was actually willing to pay 12.50 a month so I could listen to something besides the choices I could get for free on the stations here.
Still, I'm a former BJ Shea listener, and the Buzz was my favorite radio station in Seattle right up until it turned into the top 40 station for inbreeders. I haven't tuned in much since the day he chose to be a complete douchebag to the guys from PA (completely ignoring my favorite charity in the process)...but I'll tune in tomorrow for sure.
