I don't bother with commercial radio. Largely because whenever I turn it on, it's in the middle of a block of commercials.
The internet has spoiled me.
Sometimes I wonder why people bother posting in a thread... If you don't like what we are talking about, why post? We don't care.
Well, on this forum in particular.....I'd say just about everyone likes what we're talking about. It's just that most people's allegiances lie with Gabe and Penny Arcade, so you shouldn't be surprised if they pop in and say that they're not big "BJ Shea" fans (or fans of local radio in general). All they're doing is weighing in with an opinion on someone who trashed one of the founders here.
It's nice that he's willing to finally make ammends and it's probably safe to assume that regardless of their feelings about radio in general, those same people saying "I don't like commercial radio" would also be interested in listening tomorrow. If there were an easily clickable link to a radio interview with him, they'd probably click on it. Not because they like commercial radio or BJ Shea, but because they like Penny Arcade.
Personally, I understand what Houn is saying about commercial radio. I hate it too. I got a Sirius subscription because I commute upwards of 20 miles a day up and down 405....and I was actually willing to pay 12.50 a month so I could listen to something besides the choices I could get for free on the stations here.
Still, I'm a former BJ Shea listener, and the Buzz was my favorite radio station in Seattle right up until it turned into the top 40 station for inbreeders. I haven't tuned in much since the day he chose to be a complete douchebag to the guys from PA (completely ignoring my favorite charity in the process)...but I'll tune in tomorrow for sure.
If TrainwreckX had bothered reading the thread, instead of wrecking trains, he'd have seen that I'd contributed more to the conversation, and that the quoted was part of the thread topic's meandering toward a more general radio discussion. I actually find BJ kinda funny, in the off times I'm in my car when he's on, and think the topic at hand can only be a good thing in the end.
Short Version: Sometimes I wonder why people bother posting in a thread about people posting in a thread... If you don't like what we are talking about, why post that we're posting? We don't meta-care. ;-)
I'm listening right now. They mention it every now and again just as a "comin up on the show later...after years of bad blood we're burying the hatchet" and thats about it. Nothing sarcastic or mean or anything so I'm optomistic about it. They don't seem to be out to place blame or anything. Should be a good listen!
EDIT: he's actually taking the blame as saying "I was very mean to him years ago and I am going to apologize" and then continues to throw PAX some love by saying it should be a great weekend. Cool beans, almost time!
and here we go...
good apology made with well spoken words and then they chatted about Jack Thompson, their moms, the success of PAX, how PAX needs to kick Tokyo's and TGS' ass, getting old as gamers and not being able to hang with the youngins as games become more complicated, ... Was a good listen.
Glad you guys liked the interview! Say hi to BJ at PAX and tell him yourself that you liked it... haha!
EDIT: If you go to www.kisw.com, and click on the On Demand section. BJ Daily Podcasts are available, and the interview will be up on the Interview section as well, a little later today.
I listened too, really enjoyed the interview and was a good time for all. Cant wait to see everything tommorrow, damn I missed out on Mike from Marissa's bunny? I knew I shouldnt have gotten out of my car.

It was good stuff! I especially liked the segment where BJ laid out (part of) the role of a radio DJ. Being blunt, forward, and speaking your mind - all things that lead to someone either being loved or called an asshole - is part of being a radio DJ. Where most people won't be confrontational about something because it isn't worth it, a radio DJ will call them out as being assholes because its what they do! If they didn't, the show would not be entertaining and could straddle the fence on becoming boring talk radio. It was a nice preface to say how it just happened with the wrong person this time around. thumbs up!

Awesome interview, recorded the whole thing. It's being uploaded now, I will link you guys in a few until their daily podcast is up.
Rev, are you gonna show up at PAX?
EDIT: I have uploaded a recording of the entire "interview" right here, enjoy. I have to suggest you guys get the podcast when it's posted, but until then, hopefully this will satisfy you.

Yeah, I probably should have mentioned, there was like a second long sound clip that played on my computer some time during the recording, and it "may" have got into the recording, so if you hear something out of place, sorry... I forgot to try and edit it out, but I don't think it was during an important part, so no biggie.
I had a bunchof errands this morning, but I cought the whole intrview and the Marissa's Bunny bit! Swear if I didn't start the slow clap by myself after it was done. Great Job Rev, BJ, Gabe, and everyone else. I'm glad it all went so well, and Child's Play is $1,000 for the better.
Mabe I can get BJ to autograph a Wrath of God for me. That would be funny to me.
Yeah, this went great. Thanks for getting it all set up Rev, and good on you for donating $1,000 and offering publicity for the end-of-year drive this holiday, BJ.
I set my alarm to listen to this this morning, but I hit snooze and missed it.
Thanks for the posted links, I listened at work and it was a pretty good interview. Sounded like BJ was really eager to be nice to Mike and apologized several times, which was really cool.
I hope this year, he'll have them back on around the time of the Child's Play dinner, maybe BJ could donate some sort of prize to the live auction or something.....end up making a good partnership out of all of this.

So BJ showed up to PAX on Friday (not Saturday like he said he would). He played a couple games of magic and left before the sealed tournament. I got a chance to talk to him for a bit and he is very nice in person. Again I'm glad he patched things up with Gabe.

and here we go...
Though, I do have to say that I still have some loyalty to Steve the Producer, since he was instrumental in getting me my start in radio.

It was also really nice of BJ to let Mike from Marissa's Bunny on even after Gabe left. Good stuff.

Well done interview Mr. Non-PR-guy Gabe.

Maybe a BJ/Gabe autographed hatchet?
