So we don't get Shining Force II? Heresy. My third purchase(after MM9 and Ys 1 & 2) will probably be Sin and Punishment. Maybe Shining In The Darkness if there's points left.

I thought we were getting Shining Force II on VC today in the US.

...figures that my Wii is going in for repairs soon. :P (I've got the label and will be sending it out later.) I don't want to download anything until I get it back.

On a different note - they better give us a code to unlock the GBC characters in MG64.

Mario Golf 64 was more fun than the Gamecube one in my opinion. Nothing beats the GBA version, though. I keep wishing for a new version of that for DS. The role playing aspects and skill building and levelling up were awesome, and damn addictive.

Anyone try the MM9 DLC yet? I'm curious about that endless mode.

For those who have played MG 64 when it first came out: will the lack of GBC-connectivity be a significant miss? Are the GBC characters better than the N64 ones? Do you need them to really enjoy the game, or are they trumped by Metal Mario and Maple (the best characters as far as I could gather from a quick GameFAQs check) stats-wise?

Actually, the GBA connectivity was for the GCN version, if I recall correctly.

So you wouldn't be missing anything.

I owned SNES a long time ago. But on SEGA, I definitely remember it having an extra level near the end and better sound (although the music was softer.)

    It's the Megadrive version.

What is that? I don't remember that in the 90's.
It's the Genesis. Megadrive was it's crazy European name.

Looks like the thing got a lot more use in Japan, but even that's not saying much. The only games here that used it were Pokemon Stadium 1-2 (transfering your pokes... duh), Mario Golf/Tennis (play your leveled up character in 3D), and Perfect Dark (was going to let you take your picture with the GB camera and put your face in game, but that got nixxed. Instead just unlocks some cheats... woo).

Despite being yet another Nintendo peripheral that got no love, it was worth it for Pokemon Stadium. Because damn it, 2 was and still is the best console version of the games that was ever released.

I didn't pick up Pokemon till ruby/sapphire. I'm old, you see, and it took quite a bit of convincing.

    Also I didn't own a GBC.

Your downloaded characters were only good if they were like lv50+ and packing some serious stats, if I recall. The N64 characters were all pretty dang buff if you were to convert them to the stat system that the handheld games used. So yeah, you could make a wicked awesome character, but don't worry because you're not really missing much.

I was just thinking the other day that I wanted to replay Shining the Holy Ark. Sadly, I no longer have the game or in fact the system. A VC release is probably impossible seeing as how it's a Saturn game, but maybe it'll show up on GameTap (yes, I'm dreaming).

I like the Wii Sports golf. Add more depth to it (more clubs, 18 holes, more courses) and tighter controls (it's too hard for soft hits/soft puts, but motion plus may be all that is needed) I think they'd have a good game.
