Do any of you make sew, knit, collage or craft stuff related to video games? I'm thinking of making a few loco rocos (crocheted or knit) to pin onto my backpack while at Pax. If any of you want to meet up to show off your creations, reply to this post and we'll see where it goes.
I made an awesome Tetris tote bag for my brother-in-law. Cut out felt tetris pieces and arranged them on the front of a canvas bag and sewed them on. Come to think of it I should have taken a picture before giving it to him. Blast! I'll have to coheres him in to taking a pic for me to share.
Almost all of my art ends up being video-game related.
I don't have pictures at the moment, maybe I will post some later, but I have a set of pac-man mugs that I made (ceramic), and I made a silver ring that has play and pause symbols around it. I also made a miniature computer monitor out of nickel and copper that houses W A S D keys that are popped off of a keyboard (I had to make a 'reliquery' for a sacred object...)
I will probably bring my ring to PAX, but I don't want to risk breaking my mugs. I'll try to put some pictures up later though.

My tongue's the only muscle in my body that works harder than my heart...
Any chance you wouldn't mind parting with one of those LocoRocos? My fiance couldn't make it this year, and she loves LocoRoco. (She calls it "the blob game")

Happy Video Game Crafting!
I believe I saw, in the "What are you bringing to PAX" thread, that LewieP's Mummy was bringning knitting stuff.
OH! No sorry, there really isn't an instruction for this kind of stuff. honestly, it's pretty much monkey work, for the most part. There are sprite/pixel maps available online, get a peg board, pic out appropriately colored beads. Peg them on the board as per the pixel map. Iron it with wax paper on top to prevent burning/sticking/overmelting. BAM! Success. Mostly, it's just a patience game, because it can take an hour for a fairly small piece.
The Shoop I did was a custom for a friend, no pixel or sprite maps available. And he took me about 2 1/2 hours.
If you are interested in getting into bead sprites though, there is an excellent forum I frequent for ideas.
I've been making cuddly Demoman sticky bombs all weekend, but I don't have enough to hand around at PAX, I'm afraid. I'll have at least one to throw at people, though.

I will try to make one by sunday. will you be at pax the whole weekend? e-mail me if you'd like to try and meet so I can give you one. e-mail: ucancallmeal at gmail dot com
This thread makes me sad that I have no talent like you folks.
Those bead sprites are pretty rad. I'd just end up eating one by accident if I tried making 'em.
You know, every time I've heard someone say this, it turns out they're absolutely awesome at their crafts of choice.
But those bead sprites are really, really cool! Weighted companion cube, FTW!
Do you have a tut available anywhere, Officer?
No, I don't even know what you mean by tut, unfortunately
Sorry! 8-)
Tutorial. Do you have any online instructions on your work?
I've done a few of these...great for passing the time/relaxing. I will add though, unless you have tiny carney hands, you'll probably want a decent pair of tweezers to place the little beads.
I really want to make a shirt that says "Made of Win" on it to wear at PAX but everyone I've run the idea by gives me a blank look and says I should do "For the Win". Am I the only one who uses the phrase "made of win"?
Alternately if anyone has a suggestion of shirt ideas I can make I'm all for hearing them!
Posts
I would love to see what others are doing, but mostly my stuff is glass and doesn't travel well.
Here are a few examples of my work.
Samus Aran
Megaman
Edgar Figaro (Final Fantasy VI)
Not video game related, but Shoop Da Whoop
Adult Rydia from Final Fantasy IV
And, what seems to be a crowd favorite, Weighted Companion Cube
Those are a few of my favorites so far, but I have a ton I've made, and I have about 6 more to make before PAX rolls around.
I will be bringing some of these to PAX, but the ones I bring are special orders I have made for friends

Oh, I'm awesome at what I do. I just suck at making artsy items.
I think that's why I'm such a nerd for art, because I know I'd never be able to do some of this stuff.
