Sorry bout ignoring your invite earlier Yorker, I didn't want to leave the game I was in (it was pretty intense with some good people) and by the time it was over you were off playing something else.
Anyway, I'm getting on now, anybody else up for some Halo?
Why do you hate socialised medicine Fyre, do you not believe that health is an inherent right, or that it is less efficient (it's pretty inarguably not and generally exists parallel to private healthcare anyway)?
I'm not against it as an idea
I'm just against any of the proposed and current implementations of it
and we can't afford both nationalized healthcare and social security at the same time. It has to be one or the other, if we had nationalized healthcare that would save a lot of costs on SS's side.
What I'd like as part of a nationalized healthcare system is public gyms. It costs 40$ a month just to use the city community center gyms, that's way too much for poorer families. I remember when my stepdad had to charge his battery overnight for the truck because it didn't like to start and it was too expensive to buy a new battery.
Anyway, to get back on topic, i'll be on Halo around 7 or 8. I guess we'll play until Xbox Live goes down.
Yeah it's weird - there's no reason that run should take so long but it does.
The run takes so long because if even one person dies, BAM, youre all the way the hell back to the last checkpoint with another failure waiting in the wings >.> I dont really care too much though cause I have a blast on the driving part, its so damn fun even if we all end up having to restart 800 times. I especially love the times when youre driving and all of a sudden a giant metal piece comes flying down from the sky right next to you and lands on one of your friends and just takes him out, god is that hilarious.

Why hasn't my TBK friend request been accepted yet? Have I not put my virtual life on the line for you guys several times? Have I not shown my courage and skill by avoiding giant piece of flying floor or battling against unheard of numbers of the Flood?
WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!?!
I know what it is. I'll change to an Elite. Even though I just recently got the cool E.O.D. helmet and ninja suit.
Uh, guys? We sorta have only 3.5 hours left until Live goes offline, so...
shit! Monday is my only god damn night off and they are shutting down XBL. That is so, so gay. I was playing really well today the last couple days too

Well, I'm just assuming they're closing it at midnight EST. Dunno for sure.
I'm retrying the campaign scoring achievement on the first mission, taking Fyre's advice and doing it on normal with a bunch of skulls on. Also, the needler is boss in campaign, specially on brutes.
Forge won't let me float vehicles in the air, anymore. I'm saddened at this. I wanted to make a voltron type thing and I can't. I'm watching TV, so if people start jumping on, AIM me.
While going for the annual achievement me and a few buddies got stuck on the last part of the driving section. Now we had been been replaying the same 100 meters of level or so for the last hour and were getting pretty fed up, when for the first time in what seemed like forever we started to make some progress. "Don't even bother saying it guys" my friend says, "we'll never make it, this is all for naught". Yet despite his negativity we do make progress, in fact we make it all the way to the end.
Now at this moment I started to stand up from my couch, "this is it I thought" I thought. "This is why I've been putting up with the same god forsaken checkpoint for the last hour". Unfortunately however I never managed to fully leave the comfortable cushioning of my sofa because at that very moment a horrendous scream erupted from our headsets followed by a terrible hissing noise and the oh too familiar 'checkpoint' screen.
Turns out my friend (the same friend who said we weren't going to make it) got so exited by the idea we were finally going to complete the level he too leapt off his sofa. Except with all the elegance of a dieing elephant he managed to knock over a steaming cup of coffee onto his lap and the cat sleeping in it, which proceeded to claw him quite severely.
Needless to say nobody was happy, and as long as any of us are alive I doubt we'll let him live it down.
jesus check out this one guy I played against tonight. He had 13,000 games played.. 5 star general... but check the medal chest http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/CareerStats.aspx?player=RippinHeads
4.62 kills-deaths in social, 458 invincibles, 436 killionaires... can you say "booster?"
I guess it's time to vent a bit. First off, this doesn't have anything to do with the debacle tonight. Possible theories for THAT include the fact that I jumped right in without playing any matches, I had just had a 20oz coffee, and that I was constantly playing people with a higher skill level. Or it could just be that I suck.
Anyway, one of the things that attracted me to Halo was the skill involved. Historically, with the exception of Goldeneye, I never even liked FPS games. But long story short I met this pretty young freshmen who mentioned that she really liked video games, and she invited me over to play and proceeded to kick my ass in this game called Halo 3. This was only three months ago. She failed to mention the fact that she was in that stupid MLG group, and she put me in matches with them to serve as a punching bag. My pride hurt and a little angry at her insults, I said fuck this and went out and bought a 360 and a copy of Halo 3. Kind of a lame reason to buy a system, but I had wanted to buy a next gen system for a while, and I fell in love with Xbox Live.
I know a lot of people here don't really care about ranks, claiming that the like social matches and just having fun with friends. Well, for me, ranking up and improving in skill IS FUN. I like that I can see that I'm getting better, and I like to have confirmation for doing so. But lately I think I've plateaued. According to my service record, I've been playing less than 3 months, so I guess I'm still a relative noob to the Halo world. But I feel like I'm just not getting better like I was.
It's also fucking hard for me to rank up. I didn't understand how the system worked, that the more games you played the more info the system kept on you and the harder it would be to move up. I jumped straight into ranked and got my ass kicked a lot. My ranked stats are testament to this fact. The few friends I have that play Halo have been playing it for almost a year, so they're skill is much higher. Whenever I play with them I'm forced to play much better people than me, which gave me horrible stats, lots of losses, and now has the effect of keeping me from ranking up. I've been stuck on 15 on my favorite playlist, Team Slayer, for over a month. The alternative to getting my ass kicked by higher ranks with my friends is to play with strangers, which usually gives me about a 50/50 win loss ratio, which further makes it harder to rank up.
Lone Wolves is an option, but I kind of hate it. What's the fun of getting a bunch of kills or winning if you can't do it with someone else? And it seems like a lot of Lone Wolves isn't even skill, but kill stealing with a lot of lucky grenades.
So here I am, hitting a plateau and unable to rank up. What's a guy to do.

Don't stress about it too much man. Play lots of social instead and practice there, and don't play ranked at all for awhile. Never jump straight into ranked without warming up. Don't use ranked games for practice, either.. you have a trueskill rating (same as ranked) in social as well except it isn't displayed and isn't enforced as strictly, so you will still get good matches there. Hold off on playing Team Slayer ranked for a long time, period, until you can group with some buddies in the 30-35 range and hold your own.
If you have played a lot of matches in TS, the only way to rank up really is to join and play against other teams with much higher ranks than yours. If you can get on a good winning streak, your ranking will start to move again. If you go on a big losing streak, don't try and power through it.. switch to social for awhile, then switch back.
Don't stress about ranks too much. Save that for Halo 4 - use Halo 3 as your practicing ground. Learn how to toss nades right at the floor so that guys will walk over them, making them one shottable with a BR. Practice your aiming with the BR whenever possible, and learn how to turn engagements to your advantage... for instance, if a guy has a shotgun and isn't close enough to shoot & melee you, just run straight backwards and unload your AR on him. The AR will beat the shotgun 100% of the time if they don't get the drop on you. If you have a BR and the other guy has an AR, do the same.. back up and just unload on his head as he runs straight for you. If you have an AR and the other guy does as well, approach but suddenly back up before he gets into melee range - he will throw and miss, and during that time he isn't shooting so you will get the kill without dying. Learn how to funnel people with your nades... there is much to learn

It was awesome how we almost finished that game even though it was supposed to have ended just two minutes are beginning.
Took us 1 hour, 59 mintues. Started at 9:30 or so...
I was starting to worry that we weren't going to make it in time...Coordinating four people down that last stretch is a bitch...
In my head, this, in HD with an ODST-skin is this new Bungie project.
oh hay look it's still fucking possible for people to steal accounts. Apparently the stealer tried to sell the account already.
