I played my first game online earlier today. Got totally owned as was expected. The low point was when a Tiger rolled into my base and I had just had all of my units wiped two seconds earlier thanks to an artillery barrage.
There's a lot of us who have the game but we don't play it a ton anymore--the headaches from trying to get games started killed the enthusiasm a month or two ago. It's still a lot of fun if you can get it going so I'm sure you won't have any trouble getting a game, just ask here or in Ventrilo.
How do I chat with everyone instead of just my team?
shift+enter
Is there a way to queue multiple commands or waypoints if i want my units to follow are particular path?
hold shift while you click, same as many other RTS games. You might find the tactical map useful for this too (numpad 0 is the hotkey).
How can I get my tanks to turn around without moving?
hold right click and drag in a certain direction to give them a facing command; unfortunately, it seems to be hit or miss as to how much moving around they will do to get to where you want facing the way you want. Some of the better players I've faced online seem to have godlike control over their tanks, but I still struggle with them myself.
Will do. It's hard to nail down any consistent time these days (my wife's pregnant and I'm relegated to taking care of her while she's got morning sickness that lasts all day) but I'll certainly get in touch with you when I'm free.
I have this but I can't even beat the comp on normal yet, so I am wary of online play.
I'm terrible at this game. I do really well when it is just infantry but the comp always beats me to tanks and then they start to stomp my ass. I can beat Easy almost all of the time but I tend to restart my game a couple times against Normal until I figure out the best way to tackle the map. I've always been a turtler so the lack of base defense against tanks is an issue.
I really was enjoying the hell out of Skirmish for a few days but now it feels like the game is just a rush to get tanks and they aren't as fun, to me, as infantry. I'll have to try the campaign mode, see how that is.
Just got this one for Christmas and have been working through SP. I'll probably be up for some games once I finish the campaign; I just finished the St. Lo mission, which wasn't tough, just frustrating with the seeming random squads of nazis who would appear near undefended points. I'm hoping this will be the RTS to get me back into top form... haven't been competetive at one of these since the original C&C.

I'm at work right now. Do you have Xfire? Look me up on there in about three and a half hours.
Hey, can anyone tell me how to load up a recorded game I've downloaded..? I can't seem to find whatever folder they may be stored in. I can save my own just fine, but I can't even find that file.
EDIT: Nm, finally found it after searching through planetCoH; didn't even think to check in the My Games folder..
Playing against humans is about ten thousand times better than playing the AI. On any of the larger maps you have to be a fucking ubermensch of micromanagement to be able to compete against the AI--it will just use a half-dozen engineers to constantly steal all your undefended points (because it always knows where your troops are), so it will always beat you to tanks.
Not being able to beat a Normal computer opponent is no shame. Play against other people and you'll enjoy yourself much more.
I have to run it at the lowest settings but at least I can play. I gotta buy a new video card but I think I'll hold off and wait for the DX10 ones to get cheaper.

I was running this at very low settings on my old monitor, at 1024x768. I upgraded to a 22" widescreen that's natively 1680x1050 and I found I couldn't play the game at all; I was getting 2-3 FPS even at the absolute lowest settings.
I dropped some cash on a 7900GT and I can max out almost all the settings at 1680x1050, and this game is absolutely breathtaking. It's worth an upgrade just to see CoH at its best.
This game is much more fun against players. I'm a level 6 1v1 player atm, not saying much, but eh.
Tip:
Fuel is for working up the tech tree and is the most important resource at the start of the game. And OP those high and medium fuel points! (Outpost) You'll get to vehicles faster.
Ammunition is for unit abilities (Grenades, etc) and individual upgrades (Tank gunners and Engi Flamers) OP the high ones.
Watch your manpower, don't let it build up!
Cover is God. Learn to use it. Your units are very difficult to pin under heavy (green) cover.
RETREAT DAMN YOU! Unlike in DoW, reinforcing squads costs *less* than buying a whole new one.
Don't rely on paratroopers, they're too expensive. Use them for hit and runs, and don't forget about their Recoiless rifles, they're just as powerful as the ranger counterpart and more accurate at long range.
Watch for red smoke and LISTEN for artillary! It can save you thousands of manpower!
May have more later.

It's the trees man. They kill FPSes. I don't know why. I have all the other things on high and trees on low. But when I look at a forest I swear I hear my processor grinding. x_X

How much did you spend on the 7900GT, by chance? Not to be snoopy, but that's the card that I'm looking at getting, and Company of Heroes is one of the many, many reasons for my videocard upgrade.
That's the most I've spent on a video card in the last 7 years. I almost couldn't justify it... but I have this fantastic new monitor and it was just completely going to waste. I couldn't run any of my games for shit.
I don't regret the purchase at all. I've been milking it for all its worth.

If you have a digital camera I'd love to see a screenshot. I'm also curious to see how games look in a non-native resolution on that monitor.
I hear trees and shadows are the performance killers in CoH. Also, when using a top-down view my frame rate almost doubles.
I purchased this game recently. Currently I am mediocre at best, but I have a medial understanding of the game and would love to play some games on the internets with you fellows.
I am an experienced DoW player, but this game is definately a lot different. I am working my way through it one company at a time. Though I may work on Axis a bit so if we get a game up I can play either side.
I certainly hope so. I play an online game every couple of days against random internet folk. I'm in no way "well-practiced" at the moment, but I haven't given up my desire to play the game.
My brother kept losing to me until he just rushed to the victory points as fast as possible (ignoring alot of the strategic and resource points on his side of the map) and just put MG42s and bunkers next to them. I finally got on of the points from him but he still won.
I'd love to start playing this game with some of you guys. It's one of the first games with an online component (other than WoW) in awhile that I've felt compelled to play. I've yet to try an MP match with random people, but I've completed the SP campaign and I'm fairly decent in SP skirmishes. The only drawback for me is my rather odd work schedule : 12pm - 9pm PST. I don't have Hamachi or Vent installed (my guild uses TS), but I started a Relic account when I got the game and I also have xfire (same name as here in both).
How many people are there willing to play? Are there enough of us to set up some 4v4 matches tonight or tomorrow? I'll be on vent tonight if anyone wants to play.

I need to get back into this game so bad, but now that my game list just bumped up by six, I don't think I can.
but if you ever want to play online vs bots, let me know.

As far as non-native resolutions, I don't ever do anything non-native. I don't want to hurt my precious.
