I'm still horribly addicted to this game. Had the single most amazing 2v2 game EVER the other day.
1 straight hour of non-stop chaos in a game that went from 500-500, to 486-100 in 15 minutes, then lasted from that point all the way until the very end when the final score hit 238-0. I was seriously shaking after the game it was so damn intense. They were fighting us tooth and nail to keep in the game. Tigers, stugs, AT guns, constant para drops(from me), artillery barrages, calliopes, and god knows what else.
I also had the greatest Sherman the world ever knew. This single Sherman made 3 bar veterancy and accounted for probably 12 of the 18 tigers killed during the game. This brave soul unfortunately met his end at the hands of a pair of camo'd AT guns whilst chasing down his final tiger kill. He died with honor in battle, and I salute him for he served me well.
So if I decide to play some games with you folks, should I be getting this Hamachi thing? What do I need to know about it? It appears you don't play through Relic Online... (?)

I only play through Relic Online. Hamachi can fuck right off for all I care :P.
Relic Online is a great great service. Far superior to Gamespy (Dawn of War) so I don't see any reason not to use it. I will be up for a couple of games tonight in an hour and a half or so if anybody is interested. It would be cool if we had enough people to set up regular games. I have been desperately trying to find CoH communities to make it a bit easier to find good games, though I mostly just automatch 1v1 right now. I have never even played a 2v2 game. Which is just as well, because I would feel awfully sorry for my teammate.
I am currently strong in the very early game, but I pretty much suck after minute 4.
I am up and ready to play, my xfire is cakemikz, my AIM is cakemikz, feel free to message me on whatever you prefer if you are up for a game. I am probably just going to be watching replays.
In fact, if there is anybody else who find themselves to be terrible at this game, who wants to just run a bunch of 1v1s sometime and discuss mistakes etc, let me know. Because I find that is the best way to get better at a game like this.
I'm tired of getting booted from games because I have a record that is "too good", which means anything better than 1-0 (I'm not even really very good at the game). So I'm going to play automatches and just do nothing until my record is like 2-19 and then I can join any game I want.

Welcome to my world. People bitch about good players making smurf accounts just to prey on the noobs.
Fact of the matter is many of us have to make smurf accounts just to play the fucking game at all.
My main account has a record of something like 57-5. I join a game, I get kicked from a game. I make a game, people join and quit the game after seeing my record(this goes on for about 30 minutes before I give up).
So I log out, make a new profile, and make a new game. I'm immediately greeted by players with records similar to that of my main profile, who I pound into the ground without mercy.
The after game reaction of somebody screaming "ZOMG SMURF" in the main chat channel, only to be greeted by other players going "why were you, someone with a high win - loss ration, playing a profile that has no record in the first place?"
Well if the demand is there I wouldn't have a problem re-opening the "Strategery school of CoH ass kickery."
Wherein you learn the tricks of the trade from me :P. Many of the games aspects are things that can be taught, some are not(see: micro). But situational skills(like when you should and should not use a grenade, where to place them, etc) can be taught and are very, VERY, valuable.
Last time I did this it was for Enzo and Endo. I suppose, if enough people want to do it to make it worth the time, I could take some time to help.
Granted I'm not going to tell you what strategies you should and shouldn't use, as that's for you to decide and the last time I gave feedback regarding overall strategies I took a shit-ton of flack.
In any case, even if I can't or you don't want to do a little seminar thing, I'm always open to critiquing replays :P.

I'd attend. I need serious help with RTS.
Aren't everyone's stats supposed to be reset soon?
And you can auto-match? I wish I'd known that before. I've been trying to find matches to join through the browser. I really don't care how good someone is because I suck so much. At least if they're really good I can save the reply and watch what they did.

This again? Man, stop beating on the poor noobs.
I had to make a second account myself, my w/l ratio was way too high, and I was getting up in the rankings so forget about a 'casual' game. I don't bother to play ranked games on my second account now, although they posted somewhere that they would reset the ranking, not even sure if they did that yet, I rarely check.

Dear God please. I want to love this game for online multi, and on occasion I do, but I can only assume the rest of the time I just suck. Seems like every game I play, I either 1) Am shafted in the first 7 minutes, or alternatively, I have a game where I think I am doing ok and holding my own, and all of a sudden the dude has tanks on me.
You know the more I think about this, the more I am remembering that maybe I am not that good at online play of RTS'... I mean I never really bothered playing Starcraft, C&C, Warcraft etc. online... WCIII I almost did, but then I found out about custom maps... and frankly I play DOTA because I hate micro in WCIII. Hm.
Anyway, yes I would love even some basic build order reccomendations or something, a little discussion of strategy would be nice.

I've been wanting to play with/against you for a while now Masume. No wonder I never see you online. Add me as a buddy on your account if you want, same as my name here. That goes for any other PAers.

Hehe sure man, will do. Same here, but yeah I haven't ever done up my buddies list on the second account. Name is 'Thornn' on that one, if I haven't mentioned it before. I still play quite a bit (A few matches every other night), just not nearly as much as I used to, the bulk of my time has been on BF 2142.

Ok, so it appears the desire to learn is there. Soooo those of you willing to partake in this add me to your Relic Online friends list. My RO Name = Strategery.
It's looking like my weekend should(key word: should, things have a habit of popping up at the last second) be available. I know saturday I'll be a bit busy but the evening is free.
So post what times work best for you guys and I'll try and plan accordingly. We don't have to do one giant group or anything.
Here's how I usually work things.
1) We start off with a quick bot stomp. I want to get a grasp of what your skill level is right now, and where it appears your weak spots are.
2) Fire up a game with us on opposing sides. This is not for serious play. Game is set to annihilation so we can take our sweet time dissecting individual tactics and how to approach certain situations. If I notice in our little bot stomp that you have a problem with grenade timings we work on that. Garrisoned MGs gave you a problem until you got some form of armor out? We're going to fix that.
3) Bot stomp part deux. Time to see if you learned anything in a practical environment.
4) Arranged team game. We play together against random pubbies to see how you fair against a thinking opponent.
Now not all issues require part 2. If teching is your major issue then we have to address that basically via a discussion or replay viewing.
Keep in mind this is just kind of a rough outline. I have a notorious habit for making the process up as I go too. It just depends on what we need to work on.
Edit: I just remembered. There are 2 more times I will be unavailable. 2 hours Sunday evening, and 2 hours Monday evening respectively. I'm a 24 fanatic and nobody will be pulling me away from the premiere. It would take an act of god to make me stop watching mah show, let alone stop it to play CoH
I'd be totally up for this. I feel like I'm ok but man do I have problems with Garrisoned MGs I feel like 100% of my allies losses are because of my total lack of knowing what the hell to do. I have not played that much axis but I remember having a hard time figuring out how to get early rifle squads out of buildings. Sure I could go tier 3 but that does not help if I'm cut off from all of the fuel. Saturday would be cool for me I’m just going to be laying around for a while till like 8 or so pacific time. (drinking night yay)
I am having the same problem with MGs in buildings. The only solutions I can find are:
Put an MG in the building first.
Ignore that area.
Grenades, flamethrowers and most tier 2 equipment can also handle the problem. But they aren't fast enough to help the early game. I dont like the first option because it dictates how every game will be played. And the second option just means that they win.
Mortars have been, in my experience...a waste. They seem very inaccurate and the cost is high for a unit with such limited use in the early game.
I mean in direct combat I can match anyone, in pure tactics, but I always lose because by the time I have even jeeps out they have panzers and I crumble horribly.
I'll be on this weekend to sort it. I just dont ever see the big picture.

I just started my third game. I've lost two in the last 45 minutes.
People take forever to win, even when I delete my starting bunkers.

Hardcore.
Lets not forget the time your single vehicle with flamethrower completely annihilated my standing army, rangers included.
I will play anyone.
-Strategery I would attend your school.
