I havent played CoH seriously in a few months, after I got my 360 it kinda died off.
Like Captain K and Strat says, takes forever to get good matches. Enzo and I will sit in a damn room for 40 minutes while people file in and out and when we finally do get a match going, 1 or 2 will drop half way through if the match starts to turn against them.
Also my computer took a shit on me couple weeks back and I never got around to reinstalling CoH...but it looks like interest is picking back up again, wont be around for the long holiday weekend but I'll reinstall it and start looking for PAers to play with again.
Hell I'll take the strat seminar again since its been a while, I could user a refresher

I do not think I will be available this weekend, but I am not totally sure. So I will add you to my buddy list anyway Strat.
I mean in direct combat I can match anyone, in pure tactics, but I always lose because by the time I have even jeeps out they have panzers and I crumble horribly.
I'll be on this weekend to sort it. I just dont ever see the big picture.
Since axis players like to tech to tanks, I go after the fuel points right away. This allows me to build WSC at the start while saving my fuel for the supply center and then motor pool. Upgraded Shermans are too expensive to immediately combat axis tanks, and M10s aren't an assault force.
The motor pool is to pump out AT-guns asap and send them to choke points. You most likely won't have the experience required to drop AT-guns by this point in the game. If you can pay attention to the minimap, as soon as you see that red triangle then you can tell them to use AP ammo. That should knock a Stug down to half in a few seconds. If you're having problems with infantry then send an upgraded halftrack to reinforce the MG squads and AT-guns. Those quad cannons are probably the best mobile anti-infantry units in the game (for only 20 fuel!).
Also, the fuel saved by making AT-guns can be used to make a tank depot quickly. The only problem with this strategy is that if you go Airborne you need a lot of manpower. This can be remedied by making only engineers and MG squads (and maybe a sniper) at the start.
Ok, so it appears the desire to learn is there. Soooo those of you willing to partake in this add me to your Relic Online friends list. My RO Name = Strategery.

First question. How do I do this?
Type in the chat bar "/addfriend Strategery" without the quotes.
The /addfriend command seems to be somewhat broken lately. I've had to be in the same pre-game lobby with the person I wanted to friend four out of my last five attempts. Until we were in the same game lobby, they just didn't get the friend request.
1v1 game of Angoville (or whatever that 1v1 map is in the fields/countryside), playing capture the points.
I take an early lead, grab 2 of the three, then all three points. I manage to get shermans out before he has any sort of tank action going on. Shermans and airborn completely dominate, and I end up holding every resource point, strat point, and victory point except 2: The fuel and munitions sectors on the far left, directly down and left from the top base.
Yet, despite holding almost all the fuel points, and having a multi sherman lead, he busts out of nowhere 2 Panzer IVs, and a squad or 3 of schrecked grenadiers. These make short work of my 2 or 3 sherms I have amassed at this point. From here I steadily killed a panzer IV or 2 every couple of minutes, losing a significant amount on my side each time.
Yet SOMEHOW the fucker still keeps churning out the panzers. At this point I have owned all the fuel points but one for like 10 minutes, and I barely had the fuel for 1 M10, and 1 Sherm, yet somehow this dude has replaced 3 or 4 Panzer IVs in the same time frame, with a third or a fourth of my fuel income.
So wtf was happening here? Where was he getting so much goddam fuel?
It could be that you were using up too much fuel on things like supply center upgrades (generally considered bad in 1v1) and riflemen upgrades (usually, not all are relevent to winning a match, and I'd only ever consider standard grenades to be mandatory).
Also, the Sherman is a poor tank to take down opposing tanks with. Some Tank Destroyers would have probably been better, using riflemen to counter the grenadiers.
Do you have a replay? I could check it out for you.
Edit: Incidently, does anyone wanna play me? I'm bored as all hell here.
Damn, I looked at your post, and then the time you posted it and got excited. But then I realized that the forum is an hour ahead of me. I will play a game if I can catch someone here in a minute.
I might be up for one later this evening. As of right now I'm just about to go make some food and watch the Bears. Do you guys use voice chat programs? If so what should I get...
I am getting better but still have a long ways to go. It may just be that I hadn't even played DoW in three months either. I am just trying to get a lot of games under my belt now.
Sorry if this has been addressed already, but how bad are the issues in this game with SLI and dual core processors?
I only downloaded the demo, so I'm sure it might not be indicative of the final, but running the performance test with highest settings at 1280x1024, i get around 5fps average.
My system is decent - Athlon xp2 4600+, 2 7800gts with SLI, 2gb corsair, etc.... I run other (less intensive) games like wow maxed at 1920x1200. I was a bit surprised to see such low performance so I searched and saw that the game had problems with SLI. Has anyone else experienced this and will this change with the final version?

There was a known SLI bug at release which led to super shoddy performance. I believe it was addressed in the patch before last and fixed. They should really release a new demo though, that sort of thing just represents a bad image for them.

I run a X2 3800+, no SLI but a 7800GT and it runs smooth as silk with everything cranked up. They did have an SLI issue but it was fixed, but be SURE to apply the dual core AMD performance patch. Games that aren't programmed to manage the cores FUBAR badly if you don't have the patch.

Cool, so I guess the problems are just with the patch and not the final version. Spent hours last night trying to boost my system's performance before I read somewhere else of these problems - at least all of my drivers are up to date now
I realized what's holding me back from playing MP in Company of Heroes. It's pretty much the same thing that always holds me back when it comes to strategy games online. There's no way to jump in and out of matches without disrupting things. You always have to setup a match with someone, and if you can't stay to the end you're bailing on them. FPS and RPG games are great in that you don't need to commit to a game if you don't want to. You can jump in, make a few frags and quit without feeling like you're abandoning and leaving them to find another person to play with.
If someone could figure out a way to work that dynamic kind of match making into RTS games it would be awesome.

I dunno, my old WoW guild had an excellent way of making you feel like the biggest piece of shit alive if you didn't raid every night for 6 hours.
And the same can happen for FPS clans with practices and matches. However, you can play WoW or CSS in a casual way without ever leaving anyone high and dry. I can jump in and out of servers in DoD:S at will, and I could load up WoW (if I had a game), start a quest and then quit right away if I had to.
You just can't do that with an RTS, you start the game at the beginning and if you don't see it through to the end you're just leaving someone there to go find another game to start and hopefully he/she can finish that game.
I'm trying to think of a good analogy but I can't right now.

Not right now, but I feel like playing tonight. Maybe I can get in touch with Strategery and learn how to play this damn game.
What's with that?!
I beta'd this, and I just played online, god I'm horrible. You really lose your touch after not playing for awhile.

Axis end game just cannot be beat. Well it can, but you gotta have some sort of Patton shit going on.
What sort of trouble were you having?

There's no shame in that. Cakemikz is very good imo. I haven't experienced his endgame tho, as I always stopped him before he could get that far.
