Yeah huffing is pretty much a foot in the grave sort of deal in my experience. I've never known of someone who huffed without dire consequences.
Like three out of five kids who i've known to huff are dead. The fourth was responsible for the death of one and the fifth is in jail for something ridiculous. So yeah...huffing.

That's fantastically common. I knew a bunch of guys in college who did it, but they bought nitrous cannisters that you use for canning whipping cream after the first few times.
Really, they did it a bunch for awhile, then stopped, then did it some more after graduation. No long-term harm.
EDIT: Well, that's good on the guy that he's not in any danger. I still lose a bit of respect for someone so desperate to get off that he's trying kitchen spices, smoking catnip, and nitrous, but ... who am I to talk, really?
