    Smashing Pumpkins - 1979!!!! :D

To be released on Guitar Hero: World Tour

    :|

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Why?! Goddamit if there was one song I wanted in RB 1979 was it.
Ah well, guess some practice is in order. That and Timmy... I'm dreading Timmy (we've never really played it).

The talkies are easy to hit (on Hard at least :P), it's the "Girls will sleep with girls part" that for the life of me I cannot hit at all. I don't know if I gotta sing that low or that high. I haven't really tried to perfect it, but Timmy is a bitch in every instrument.

I think what I hated most of the Endless Setlist was that GG&HT was like the 52nd song or something. At that point you're just damn tired and start making stupid mistakes. Won't Get Fooled Again was actually kinda relaxing.

First time a band will release a song exclusively for the franchise (IE Guitar Hero)

    (in response to mxmarks)

I dunno - that seems weak when you then say "for release later" or whatever they said after it. Its pretty obvious that they're recording the follow-up to Zeigitest and gave them a track that will appear on the album coming out.

Whatever though - they can have that stuff (the rest of the pack didnt really do too much for me either) - just give us Siamese Dream, in its entirety.

Ahh, I thought you said the lie was that it was the first time this was happening, since you mentioned RB exclusives. The article is definitely as spun as possible.

Less inflamatory topic: So how hard does it look like it'll be grabbing a new instrument kit on day one?

I'm still trying to determine when the best time to trade in my RB1 instruments, to get the most out of them, so I can buy the RB2 bundle.

RB2's 360 release is just the game itself, right? I thought the instruments weren't coming for another month.

They aren't. Now is probably the time to pre-order, though, if the launch is as silly as the RB1 one was here (oh god I don't want to have to give EB the satisfaction of a pre-order)

Well, here's hoping my RB instruments hold up till then. The strum bar on my guitar is vomiting up some sort of black fuzz, and I'm hoping that's not a bad sign.

Its something like that I thought.

You could probably just google rock band RMA, and find something.

    I'd look, but... well... filters...

Have they been demoing the new controllers when showing RB:2? If so does anyone who was at pax have impressions on the new guitar/drums vs the originals? Getting the game a month early feels like a sucker move if the new instruments are better.

I wan't there, but to paraphrase:

The Guitar strum bar still doesn't click, but has a noticable notch of when you've strummed far enough. The buttons are less clickly, but still do click.

I don't recall anything fancy aboutt he drums, other than, they're more quiet, and the pedal stays on the kit when you lift it up.

Buying the PAX pack on principle.

e: I was on the fence about Coulton's song to begin with but I've fallen in love with it, much like many other songs Rock Band has turned me on to (Kool Thing, Wave of Mutilation, Suffragette City, Main Offender) and I fell in love with the other notecharts.

    Good job HMX!

I am in the minority that likes the squishy strum bar what I don't like is the flush buttons that I tend to press extra ones of. If only I could put my gh neck on the rb base. I'm actually glad to hear the strum bar is squishy still.

I tried listening to the PAX pack this morning before work, but none of them really did anything for me at all.

I thought the MC Frontalot might be fun to have, just because it'd be the closest thing to a rap genre, but meh.

I know I havent played drums in forever, but damn, I can not do that song.

I play the drums all the time and I can only 3-star the song.

But then again, I did buy it because it looked like it was totally different from other songs. :P

Have HMX said when individual RB2 instruments will be available? Because I want the game ASAP, but I also desperately need a new set of drums. Bundle delay hurts.

Could you just RMA your drums to hold you over until RB2 instruments come? (which is being said to be Oct 19 I think)

Gamestop shows the 360 standalone guitar and drums, shipping along with the game on the 14th, and the cymbals shipping one week later.

While we are on this subject, has anyone heard if this game is expected in stores on the 14th or if its the usual "game ships on that date and is usually in stores by tuesday" kind of a thing.

I'm worried that they won't accept my pedal RMA because of the holes I've drilled into it to affix the metal plate, but mostly I'm hoping that the new drums will be significantly better. If the drums (or the instrument bundle) won't be available separate from the game, I might just hold off and not get the disc this month. :(

EDIT: Oh, wait... You're talking about the drum pads, right? As far as I know, they don't want you to send the pedal back during an RMA. Ask them about it to be sure, but I remember many stories about folks who sent the whole package and then received just the pads in return.
