After messing around with the 'art creator' in Rock Band, I'm hoping that they have implemented some ways to improve the creation and use of that feature.
I had created a logo for the BWT and decided I'd like to use that logo for the individual members. Now think about what it means when the BWT logo cannot be duplicated en masse and that any copies have to be redone manually. Now imagine what's involved when the logo consists of 23 layers. And due to design limitations, you must use the controller appropriate to the character (guitar for guitarist, controller for singer, drums for drummer). Also, you have to replicate this design for each created avatar since this artwork does not go into a general pool for all avatars on the active profile.
Oh, and there is no way to scale the whole image down in size or otherwise manipulate it. Does your created design look good on the t-shirt? Too bad it's too large to fit on the front of the guitar...
Basically, what I'd like to see is a common pool for all saved artwork and a way to manipulate the entire assemblage without needing to touch the individual components. Not a major thing, I know, but sometimes games are definitely improved by work on the little things.
This. I think it actually is a pretty major thing, personally.
However, you can use any connected controller once you get into the actual art editing part. Try it!
This is about 7 pages ago but thank you so much. It's belated since I've been spending way too much time tooling around trying to recreate band logos for shirts and "stickers" on guitars.
Now if only they had lowercase letters. :x

They could add Kid Rock's "All Summer Long" and we'd just end up with Werewolves of London and Sweet Home Alabama for the price of one.
See I'd love to play that for the 'ironic' factor, but I'd still feel like a dirty douche.
I hate the fact that he even made the song, and cringe at it every time I hear it - but I can't deny that I would probably enjoy it in a Rock Band/Guitar Hero type setting.

Take a seat. Are you seated? Good.
Imagine you're playing Rock Band, at a party we'll say. Now, at this party, there is booze. There is a lot of booze. Everybody has been drinking. You happen to be playing guitar, and singing, as it were. You pick "All Summer Long"
Immediately the girls strip into their bikins and gyrate around you. They're making out with each other, pouring beer down their bodies and into your mouth (somehow). The blonde one obstructs your field of view but no worries, you've memorized the Sweet Home Alabama lick already and nail it off like the Kid Rock you are. As you sing about your childhood and summon Warren Zevon, the ladies become attracted to you. Maybe near the end of the song you'd be thinking about what song you'd follow with. But as the solo kicks in you're just praising Rock And Roll Jesus because damnit son, you're gettin laid tonight.

As a quick note: Unless I'm doing it wrong, I can't use the 360 controller to edit anything for my guitar avatar.

Only once you've actually selected an art "piece" to work on does it let you use the controller. Like if you want to make The Who's target symbol (good luck with the words on the logo, I've given up), you go to add art with whatever controller you're supposed to be using, then select the "NEW" cell to start your art piece, and you should be able to have full reign from there with a second controller.
Rock Shop and instrument selection and all that you still need the guitar controlling things.
They could add Kid Rock's "All Summer Long" and we'd just end up with Werewolves of London and Sweet Home Alabama for the price of one.
They should name this the "Sweet Home Alabama Pack 01" and I would buy it in a heartbeat. Even though you cant turn the radio on without hearing the Kid Rock version nowadays, I still think it would be a pretty awesome song in general.
What...I'm afraid to ask but does Kid Rock have to do with Werewolves of London?
He stole most of Werewolves of London and the Sweet Home Alabama riff and combined them into his biggest hit.
That's...oh my god...I just listened to it...why do people like this? This is...this is just wrong. Plain wrong.
This is shit, sampling is shit. Goddamnit you idiots, if you want to listen to those songs, listen to those fucking songs, don't listen to some hack put it in godawful lyrics over samples of the music. Fucking hell.
Indeed. There is a difference between taking entire passages out of a song and looping it unedited, and taking a few notes or a sting from a song and using it as a mixing base to build a new song around.
I didn't even know that song was by Kid Rock. I generally listen to JackFM and they mostly play stuff from the 70's-90's and very little new stuff, so I'm surprised at how much they play that song, especially considering it sucks anyways. First time I heard it I was like 'The fuck is this shit? Just play Sweet Home Alabama instead of some jack off singing retarded lyrics about singing Sweet Home Alabama over the beat of Sweet Home Alabama'
The Kid Rock song is catchy and I don't mind hearing it. I am tired of Sweet Home getting shoved done my throat anyways. The Ballad of Curtis Loew needs to be put on Rock Band.
Anyway, I'm a little disappointed the crowd doesn't seem to be singing along with Skullcrusher Mountain, like they do at the live shows (and as a person who doesn't own this game, I believe it also happens in game. Learn to Fly, for instance, IIRC)
So that's the song I heard at the mall today. I thought I was going crazy thinking some nobody stole those songs and made that abomination. Glad to know I'm not crazy.
I don't know if this has been posted already or not, but a HMX dev gives a shout-out to you guys in the first paragraph. Well done.
That was Gabe, Tycho, Kara, and Khoo, not any PA forum folk. I would have enjoyed organizing some PA-threadwhore people to make a band but the best we did was myself and BlackDragon up there on Sunday.

Sounds like a challenge to me... I'll try to whip that one out tomorrow as I'm fucking around with getting the controller to work. I don't know how I'm going to prove I did it, but I'll think of something...
You can tell me the shapes and modifications you used to make the lower case E look like the logo's :P
Shouldn't be too difficult with some circles and rectangles.
See I'm just terrible at that type of thinking. I thought to try and use a sideways "D" and then maybe an upside-down and stretched "U" with an "I", etc. - but I just can't ever get something to look like the font that's used in their logo using letter-shapes.

I also made pretty unexciting cars in Forza.
Heh. I actually just finished making it. It's slightly easier than Nocren describes.
Would be so kind as to just go through the layers for the "e" formation?
I swear I can get everything but I just end up so frustrated with myself on that single letter.
I can't remember the name of it, but use the font with the slanted A. The font that looks like the Rock Band font. Then scroll down and select the J. (It's thinner than the standard font. Then basically copy it and flip the second one around and line them up to form the O. (I also used it for the hump part on the Hs. It doesn't quite match the font, but it's close enough considering the sloppy editing tools.)
After scaling it just so to be small and thin enough, I went to the standard font and selected I. Rotate that 90 degrees and scale to fit. Then copy that I and place it just under the first I and slightly to the right. Change the color to match the layer underneath (for me it was white). Boom. Instant lower case e.
You may need to add a third I depending on where you have the letter placed (red, for instance). Sort the layers to get the proper fit and cut.
If you'd like, I'll log back into LIVE for the next ten or fifteen minutes and you can invite me to a multiplayer game and see what I've done.

That name not fitting business made me think something was wrong with my TV. How can a 40" LCD TV not fit anything on it? o_O

The whole citizen soldier thing 3 doors down did as a Nation Guard promo. you know... make the proceeds go to charity (or the army, hahahaha ohh no)
But no seriously the drums would be kinda fun. And they could maybe make the screen shake a shitton when the heavy guitars come in.
And to that end, the Kid Rock one would be funn-who the hell am I kidding. I would love to get drunk and play this song.

Not always.
Not when done correctly.
He might've actually been talking about the real PA Guys. Cause they use that name as well.
my uncle likes to refer to kid rock as "The most popular cover artist ever."

No way. Seriously, they put out Dude and Catastrophe? Un-fucking-believable. Hats off, HMX.
Excuse me while I go empty my bank account.
Also - I cant stop listening to Color and The Shape.
Please HMX. Please. Give me this Tuesday.
