I feel like venting.
This is my uncle (not the baby)
He's been drumming half his life. I can sometimes play songs on drums on hard. He stole all the drum aptitude in the family.
To my infinite shame, I just discovered last night - after ten years of believing otherwise - that "My Own Worst Enemy" is a song by Lit, not by Blink-182.
In my defense, this is probably Napster's or Kazaa's fault.
TOTALLY KAZAA'S FAULT.
You just brought back so many memories of being filled with rage in 2000 when I tried to download that song and searching "Lit" never gave me any results, because every single fucking person labeled that song wrong.
And hey - that song by Incubus was called DRIVE, Kazaa, not "Whatever Tomorrow Brings".
You think that's bad? For awhile I thought House of the Rising Sun was done by.......
The nutty screaming for "Down With the Sickness" isn't charted for the vocals, I don't think. I recall there being some really long cowbell break at PAX.
My memory could be fuzzy, though.
Heh, I kinda wondered if they were just going to use the shortened radio version for Rock Band. That's my one sad gripe with the game. Edits to the music By cowbell break, I'm guessing you mean that the original rant vocals weren't there either?
The rating thing is one of the reasons I always kind of figured Tool weren't in there, even if the lyrics weren't too rough languagewise in a lot of their popular songs, the actual content I'm guessing would leave the ratings board o_O
Well, the background chat from "Orange Crush" and the tool manual reading by Dave Grohl for "Everlong" both aren't charted. Like I said, I don't recall where the overlap was but I remember the cowbell break being pretty long because I remember the dude singing was cheered on by the crowd to headbang along with the hits (he had long hair so it was a crowd pleaser).
I remember a post about there being a playlist/radio-like website which had the Rock Band 2 setlist on it available for a listen, can anyone share the link?
Right now, hyping myself up for the game. Need a good video source though. Doopian only had so many up on Youtube.

Credence Clearwater Revival!
I could write a book on stupid mistakes I've made in music.
-Thought Metallica's first CD was The Black Album for quite some time.
-Under the impression that Rage Against the Machine was a heavy metal band until actually listening to them.
-Thought that Queens of the Stone Age were a band from the 1970's for a while.
-For some reason, I used to get Rage Against the Machine, Queens of the Stone Age, and Powerman 5000 mixed up. I'm not sure why.
-Kind of thought 'Foo Fighters' was a reference to Mr. T.
-Behind Blue Eyes. I thought it was a Limp Bizkit song too...
-Didn't know Any Way You Want It was a Journey song or that it was from the 80's. This is of course after hearing it in countless commercials.
-Probably all sorts of other shit I can't remember.

I choose to believe that the incorrect attribution of songs on download services was intended to be a cutting rebuke of the music industry for foisting all these essentially identical bands on the world. Thus leading to the eventual decline and hopeful fall of the industry as a whole.
It's either that or yet again have tangible proof that the internets is just a convenient place for morons to gather and spread their ignorance around in bite-sized chunks.
The former is better because it attempts to stir up some chaos in the RIAA. The latter is just so sad. True, but sad.

It was probably me and sadly the guy who put up the site with all the songs in RB2 was given a cease and desist letter from you-know-who. He had support from some HMX people and even had Amazon/iTunes links on the site but apparently that wasn't enough.
Your best bet right now is searching GoogleVideo or waiting.
So a few days ago I borrowed the RB1 disc from a friend of mine. I just wanted to see how many gold stars I could get (with the old cutoffs, mind you). I get to GGaHT. I practice, practice, practice, and guess what happens. Guess what motherfucking happens.

How come all the black metal guys in RB2 are missing their face paint? Example
What are you talking about? I can't really say for certain about the bassist (since I can't remember the last time I've actually seen him), but the vocalist and drummer have face paint. All three of them are defaults from RB1.
(I was momentarily confused... I had thought you were asking why the black, metal guys didn't have paint. Anyway, I just refer to the KISS rejects as Power and Paint.)
EDIT:
Now that I take a second look at it, you're right. They don't have their paint. Although the vocalist is hard to tell since his was just all white anyway. But the other two are definitely 'missing' it.
Because shortly after thier last tour ended, the manager of the record label decided that with all the facepaint, it really limited the amount of bands that wanted to hire them as session musicians and touring members of a band.
So, in order to lighten up the image and appeal to a broader range, they decided to ditch the facepaint and are hitting the road with whomever hires them, hoping to appeal to a broader range.
So I decided to make up back stories for everyone, what of it.

It don't matter much as you can make your own backing band's characters at will.

Reworded from the Wikipedia entry... I'll let you guys figure out the real band...
Sensing it was time for a change, SIKK made the decision to abandon their trademark makeup. They officially appeared in public without makeup for the first time on a September 8, 2008 appearance on MTV, which coincided with the release of the band's new album, Yakk It Up. The tour showing off the new album and the unmasked band members will start off in Berlin, Germany, on the 11th of October, 2008, at Das Krapfentheatre, their first concert ever without makeup.

I think it might just be that it sounds different because it's a different mix than is on the original album (since the guitar is playing, it is brought out more). It does sound a bit sharper though. Maybe that's just a result of the remastering?

The album itself was remastered for retail at least once, so maybe HMX was given the "new" masters. But yeah, they also do things to bring out the instrument you are playing, too, so that could be it as well.
I'm totally ignoring all the posts in this thread for some reason. It might have to do with me wanting to walk into this as fresh as possible on Sunday. I'm going to go play Open Season now for some strange reason.
The instrument you're playing as is always set to be 'louder' than the rest of the music.
Except for vocal practice i think.
I actually prefer the RB mix/mastering of songs to the CD versions. example: Simple Man. Has a nice full sound. CD version? No definition, hardly any 'oomph', and slightly tinny.

Um, ditto?
I know a lot of songs on either GH or RB sounded slightly different because they mix the guitar to be a bit louder. (Though some are, in fact, a different version altogether.)

It's always interesting when you hear a song from these games on the actual album, and you can barely hear the guitar at all. They sometimes sound completely different.

There are times (When You Were Young) when I get a vocal part that I had no idea existed. And then when I go listen to the album, I dont hear it at all, even when Im looking for it. The vocals are the coolest thing to boost, in my opinion.

the Dethklok singer is saying "Thunderhorse" repeatedly during Thunderhorse. Despite playing it a million times in GH2, I thought it was entirely an instrumental.
I only realized it wasn't when I listened to the real version, and now that I play it in GH2 again I can now hear the vocals.
God, I'm hitting a choke point in GGaHT (you know the one, about 80%), because I'm a fucking idiot. I keep thinking that that bit is coming at about 33% through the second solo, and so I waste all my energy. And then I'm all like 'oh, that was a lot easier than I remember'. And then thirty seconds later it's fuuuuccckkkk
Every song up until then was fairly easy to get through, and this is just a wall. I hope I'm not going to be stuck for as long as I was on DWDTG.
