the Dethklok singer is saying "Thunderhorse" repeatedly during Thunderhorse. Despite playing it a million times in GH2, I thought it was entirely an instrumental. :|

I only realized it wasn't when I listened to the real version, and now that I play it in GH2 again I can now hear the vocals.

It's weird that I didn't register them AT ALL.

I just checked a GH2 vid and you are absolutely right. You seriously just blew my mind.

    Like, wow

I read the OP and didn't see any info concerning this but how is carrying over the on disc songs from the original RB to RB2 going to work. Will I be able to trade my disc off after I carry them over?

God, I'm hitting a choke point in GGaHT (you know the one, about 80%), because I'm a fucking idiot. I keep thinking that that bit is coming at about 33% through the second solo, and so I waste all my energy. And then I'm all like 'oh, that was a lot easier than I remember'. And then thirty seconds later it's fuuuuccckkkk

Every song up until then was fairly easy to get through, and this is just a wall. I hope I'm not going to be stuck for as long as I was on DWDTG.

play the first set of zigzags as groups of 4
look at it at 50% and you'll see what I mean

The update is on the 2nd post.

If you have connected to LIVE recently with Rock Band running, it would have downloaded a patch. Once that is done, go into Options and you'll see an Export Songs selection.
Disc Exporting - Export almost all the Rock Band 1 on-disc songs onto your hard drive (Xbox 360 & PS3) for use in Rock Band 2. The only songs that cannot be transferred due to licensing issues are "Run to the Hills", "Paranoid", and "Enter Sandman". The cost is $4.99 or 400msp. The update for this was made available Sept. 5th for the 360 and Sept. 11th for the PS3.

I think it might just be that it sounds different because it's a different mix than is on the original album (since the guitar is playing, it is brought out more). It does sound a bit sharper though. Maybe that's just a result of the remastering?

The album itself was remastered for retail at least once, so maybe HMX was given the "new" masters. But yeah, they also do things to bring out the instrument you are playing, too, so that could be it as well.

I listened to it yea, its the remastered version where Dave went back and rerecorded parts so its that version.

Holy Wars and Hangar 18 are also notable for the differences between the original and remasters.

Just so I'm clear, they don't have wired versions of the new instruments right? I don't really have a need for wireless instruments and would rather not pay for batteries.

This, exactly. I've found that I pretty much have no need for wireless controllers, as all they do is eat up batteries which costs way too much. Even with a battery charger it's just not worth it for me.

Which is why I really wished a new 360 didn't come with a wireless controller. Oh well.

This is the most ridiculous idea ever... I play RB constantly and have changed my guitar batteries 3 times since November. That's like $5 worth of batteries for almost a year of playing - if that's too much maybe RB isn't the game for you, lol.

I was |--| this close to snagging a broken release date copy of RB2 tonight. After work I just kinda drove around for a couple hours stopping at shops on the way, and at the local gamestop had the following interaction with the clerks:
Clerk 1: Hi, looking for anything?
Me: Do you guys have the new RB2 instruments? I'm looking for one of the new drumkits.
Clerk 1: (to other clerk) Hey, do you know if we've got the Rock Band 2 instruments?
Clerk 2: The bundle comes out on the 11th.
Me: I'm not looking for the bundle, just a set of the new drums. They're supposed to come out soon, I heard.
Clerk 2: Oh, you can get that right now. *gestures to the RB1 standalone drum display*
Me: No, I'm looking for one of the new ones.
Clerk 1: The new ones are the exact same as the ones for the first game.
Me: I heard they're different... supposed to be more reliable.
Clerk 1: The bundle will be coming in like a month.
Me: Do you know when you'll get the new standalone RB2 instruments?
Clerk 2: It says in the computer they come out on the 11th.
    Me: So, tomorrow?
Clerk 2: The 11th of October. I think we have the game right now, though. We took it off preorders yesterday.
Me: Do you have any copies?
Clerk 2: *rummages around a couple bins behind the counter* Sorry dude, nope.

Maybe I should have asked him to check the back? :) It would have been a gamble, I could feel the stupid rubbing off on me.

In my time of owning a Les Paul, I've probably changed its batteries like 4 or 5 times. Not all that much.

The annoying part is having it run out and then realizing that I don't have any batteries in the house. D: All the non-essential remote controls had already been scavenged, of course.

I now keep a huge stash.

What in god's name kind of super batteries are you using? I was playing GH3 just last week with the wireless for that and three freaking days the batteries were dead. And my brother is constantly going through batteries whenever he uses the wireless 360 controller.

My friends and I just played Rock Band for 9 hours straight, in order to unlock the Endless Setlist so that we can play it on Saturday and be "done" with RB1 by the time RB2 comes out. We are well aware of the irony of spending 9 hours straight to unlock a 5 hour marathon.

It's incredible to see how much better we've become over the past few months. When we first unlocked the Endless Setlist on a different 360, we failed so many songs and struggled to get by a lot of what we did pass. Today, the only songs we didn't gold star or 5-star were Run to the Hills, Young Man Blues and Brainpower. There were also at least a dozen FCs on the day, and would've been more if my drums didn't drop notes.

Also, after four hours of drumming I was stretching out between songs and my right leg just gave out from under me. I fell over my throne onto the couch, got up and drummed for about another hour. I felt pretty hardcore.

The cheapest batteries I could find... I bought a 40 pack for like $10 or something. The RB guitar turns itself off when it's not being used, maybe that helps?

Wireless 360 controllers are easily charged with a docking station or with a cord, which can be done during the times you aren't playing or (in the case of the cord) while you are playing.

I can understand how replacing normal batteries would get annoying though. I need to invest in some rechargeable ones because I swear my Wii remotes turn themselves on all the time or something because they die so fast in them.

Nice, I finally gold starred it today as well with like 427k. It sucks because if I didn't fuck up the ending Y/B/O part so bad I would have easily gotten 90% on the second solo and gotten an extra 16k points. Still, gold stars is gold stars. :P

I also GSed Creep and Seven finally, thanks to the new cutoffs. Now the only disc songs I have left to GS are Brainpower, Pleasure (Pleasure), and Timmy.

Bands I would rather have than Tool:

    Les Savy Fav
    Maritime
    J Mascis
    Okkervil River
    Twilight Sad
    ...trail of dead
    Built to Spill
    My Bloody Valentine
    Decemberists
    Born Ruffians
    Boris
    Swirlies
thats all I got right now.

Agree with you so much on At the Drive-In and My Bloody Valentine. "Invalid Litter Dept." from the former, "Only Shallow" or "To Here Knows When" from the latter.

If you had My Bloody Valentine you'd have to whack the whammy bar and use star power the entire song.
