So we are just seven days from the kickoff to the 2008 National Football League season.

And the injuries are starting to pileup.

Osi Umenyiora out for the season
Shawn Merriman career threatening injury
Chad Johnson torn meniscus I think it was
Jason Taylor sprained knee (crybaby)

Several other guys are getting hurt in the training camp and preseason. The good news is, they're probably going to vote to shorten the preseason in order to elongate the regular season by 1 game. Stay tuned.

OH and the Kickoff game is going to have both Keith Urban and Usher as guest performers. Joy. Better than Kelly Clarkson and Faith Hill I guess.

    In all seriousness, I get American Football, I get pretty much all the rules, I know what's going on, but I can never, ever understand the tactical side to it. All the different plays, defences, everything freak the hell out of me. What the hell is shotgun?

    Just trying to play Madden is like trying to understand that dude's mind in Rain Man.

    Shotgun formation is when you have the Quarterback away from the center, like 3 or 4 yards away, in the backfield. Its easier to see the whole field for the QB and thus supposed to be easier to make a pass from, but most defenses counter this with the Dime formation (six defensive backs)

    To be honest, during the 90s when I'd play madden because my brother made me watch him kick my ass, I didn't get any of it either.

    I'm at a slight disadvantage having not grown up with the culture of it.

    If anyone wants to discuss the intracies of fielding theory in cricket, I'm your man.

    Failing that, I can explain why 4-1-2-1-2 will lose you games.
