I never got why people don't like Salamence. I think he looks alright, though Metagross and Tyranitar are definitely better. There should be a Metagross sprite with his mouth open (it's on the front, on the bottom disk below the X) as he looks even more badass that way.
Garchomp's sprite is meh. I know he was modeled after a hammerhead shark but it didn't really work out. Flygon is the pokemon that combines cute and threatening most effectively, fuck off Dragonite.
Metagross is the only base 600 pseudo-legendary (dragonite/salamence/tyranitar/metagross/garchomp) to not have a 4x weakness- his Steel/Psychic typing is excellent reistance-wise and in addition he has awesome defense making him about tied for the most physically bulky pseudo-legendary with Tyranitar, though Ttar has him soundly beat special defensively due to Sand Stream.
The main reasons I think that he's less used than Garchomp is A. his weakness, though not 4x, to a very common attack type in ground and B. His lack of good physical STAB, as neither Steel nor Psychic is a great attacking type. That said, he still hits brutally hard with meteor mash, but he can't compare to Garchomp's insanely good STAB combo in EQ/Outrage, resisted by only Bronzong and Skarmory. (and magnet risen Magnezone)
I think its because Salamence kind of looks.. fat. Granted its body is very much based on traditional drawings of European- style dragons, but its still rather bulky looking. Me, I like Salamence, but its just as much based on how useful one is in a fight as it is for its looks.
Everyone forgets about Altaria when it comes to dragons. But then again it looks more like a bird than any sort of dragon. Heck, Gyarados looks more like a dragon than Altaria does.
Okay, it's been a while since I've used it, so I'm a little shaky on the details, but the suicide clause applies to Perish Song, right? I think it might be random who dies of the Pokemon that "hear it" after three turns.
Perish Song isn't random.
Suicide clause applies to moves like Explosion and Destiny Bond mainly. If your last Pokémon faints your opponents last Pokémon by using those moves, then you officially lose the fight because your Pokémon fainted first. The game says its draw.
I forget who faints first with Perish Song. and If I have two Pokémon left and use perish song against my opponents 1 Pokémon, then I switch after using it, do I still lose when the opponent faints from Perish song? I would say no, but now I'm not sure.
If the attack description means anything, only who pokemon who "hear it" are effected, which I think refers to when it's first used. Unless it refers to how it (I think) sort of "replays" every turn.

Definitely. The Poké sings it, and it isn't heard again. Both Pokés die at the same time because both counts end on the same turn.
One of the things that Shoddy battle has over wifi battling is that it auto enforces active clauses- so accidental extra Pokemon put to sleep doesn't happen. I really would like it if they added in at least a few basic battle clauses for wifi battling, but I'm not holding my breath for that.
Also, its really annoying to go underground to dig up some extra fossils, fail to find any for quite a while, then finally find two in a single wall- only to find out that your bag is full of random shards, rocks, and Everstones. Doh!
Ah well yes the pokes we use to battle online are bred for good natures (and in some cases good IVs) and then Effort Value (EV) trained to maximize the proper stats, E.G. a physical walling pokemon would have the effort values (effort values add points to stats and you can have a finite number of them) put into defense and HP.
Non-EV trained non-bred Pokemon wouldn't stand a chance.
But yeah I can battle you with my old ingame team. Are all your guys fully evolved?
If I had let Charizard die and brought out staraptor then my prediction would have worked.
But thanks for telling me that you that I know. Now I won't do what you think I will not don't do something.
I haven't played Pokemon since I got Blue And a GBC for my birthday waaaaay back in Jr. High. I bought my friend's unplayed copy of Pearl from him and fired it up. 30 hours later I'm only to the fourth gym but loving the new dearth and variety of Pokemon. I the complexity and cuteness they've added!
I know surely other people have brought it up but seriously... Jesus. I fucking hate Zubat and Geodude. Every frickin' cave! At least I don't feel like cheating using my Kadabra anymore.
Also I have no clue how to use the DS friend system... but I'd love to battle with all y'all. (This is actually my roomie's DS. She doesn't play it much. Yes I need to buy one of my own. And FR/LG.)
Kinda sucks a little that the last hit was a critical. I'd like to know that I could have KO'd without it. But still, it's almost poetic I think, ending our fight with a critical. Just seems right.

Yes, typically 100. This is also the method by which IV checking works.
Holy crap, awesome job Bob.
I was just about to attack. Ah well. Want rematch then? Sure, lemme change my team.

GG, Xavier, very close.
Anyone else would like to battle?
Yeah I spent 11 turns hoping for hax in the form of a crit or attack raise. Fortunately Mash didn't miss either.
Metagross is so incredibly good.

And remember the status of every poke this time...
If you don't I guess I could battle you with the team I went through the game with.

This Tyranitar RockinX gave me might be good for any of those conditions you mentioned, he said it was cloned.
