Ok Aardvark I already know about painting but you'll have to give me a tutorial in how you got that damage looking so good.

    Beautiful work.

That's a Buzzbee dart shotgun. I found one at the local K-Mart, although I was broke so I did not buy it.

It is to be specific the double shot.

It doesn't carry that many rounds, you can't take it to pieces without damaging the air chamber and it takes far too long to reload.

It does how break like a real shotgun and automatically eject the shells, it acts like a real shotgun. This is the only reason it's any good, because you just damm well feel like a man while using it.

    Damn right you do.

As for all my battle damage, a knife and the willingness to slice up a perfectly good nerf gun, with the added detriment of probably slicing my arm or something. Happens every time.

Hey, Aardvark, I asked about doing a magazine extension a few pages back (not pointing fingers, you're busy with paint and genius); what would you see as the feasibility of melting down some slag and forming a bigger clip for the Longshot? Say, larger spring or maybe two springs, and just cutting a hole in the bottom of the first clip and slapping the base back on. Or would this need to be made from scratch?

I haven't finished my barrel mod from last week when I dug a nice gash into my thumb with an X-acto. No health insurance for me though, so I just went to the health kit I had laying around (my sister is a nurse) and grabbed a butterfly. I had forgotten how much fingers bleed, but I'll have a great reminder by just looking at the carpet from now on.

Avast. Here be the Longshot mag expansion thread.
    http://nerfhaven.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7165

I would personally love to fabricate my own magazines for the longshot, double-stacked, and curved so as to appear more menacing. Looking kinda like an AK-47, just need some wood on there.

Question: How much force does one have to apply to the bolt to prime the spring?

From my experience with my friend's Longshot, it's no more force than you'd apply to, say pump a Supersoaker.

It can get off it's rotation. it's a tad finicky. Once you get some time with it it's easy to figure out though.

Is the barrel not turning when you pull the trigger? If thats the case then there could either be extra paint on the cog turning it, or it could just be stiff from being new. Take some cooking spray, and hose the turning assembly down, spin it a bit to work it into all the cracks, and try turning the chamber via trigger pull a few hundred times, it should fix itself in time. I have this problem with pretty much every gun I paint now, from adding an extra layer of thickness on due to the layers of paint and sealer.

    Hope that helps.

That'll occasionally happen, but what's more often is that when I let go of the trigger, it doesn't come out all the way.

Ah well, hopefully it'll work itself out in time. If not, I bought the thing at wal-mart, worst case scenario I'll just shove it back together and return it.

Well then, I'll do what you suggested after I do the mods to remove the air restrictors and make the cylinder come out all the way.

Out of curiosity, would removal of the restrictors allow a dart tag dart to go in and fire unhindered, or am I going to need to snip these things down to size?

I currently have a unmodded maverick and a modded maverick (followed Aardvark's site). It seems to me the unmodded one fires farther but the one I modded was kind of shotty to begin with.

Today I bought one of Buzzbee double shot shotguns. I'd give it a 10 out of 10 for the coolness factor but a 3 out of 10 for a practical factor. For one it sucks for nerfing it up since it fires about 10 feet due to the low velocity (can't even figure out how the damn thing fires). Secondly it takes forever to reload.

Anyone have any idea how to increase the velocity on the double shot? Can't open it up since it breaks it and only mod i've seen is to mod the shells.

Christ its hard to find just a Maverick.. everything else sure but Mavs are sold out everywhere I go.

Anyways was at toys R us this weekend, looking for a maverick.. not a one.. they had quite a few others to pick from but I decided I might as well go big.. and all the nerf guns where on sale too.. sweet

So I picked up the 3 in one N-Strike and damn is it sweet.
THought it would be best if I get one that has the most bang for the buck, I mean.. pistol, semi auto and a bazooka.. yea that works.

will probably attempt to mod the pistol first. likely with just a new spring.. we will see what we can do to it..

The hornet (semi auto six shot) i'll likely just remove the limiters but we will see..

as for the bazooka... no idea..

maybe i'll paint them.. maybe not.. they all combine voltron style so would likely have some scratched paint on the parts that did.

anyone else own one of these that can let me know what they have done?

I wasn't there, so take my answer with that in consideration.

I don't think that PAX actually rented the entire hotel, instead it's likely they rented a (large) block of rooms while other rooms were reserved for normal non PAX going humans. These humans probably were less then please when at 3am a running nerf war ignited outside of their rooms turning the entire place into a foamalicious version of Vietnam.
Said normal people complained, and now nerf is on the "do not bring" list.

Alternatively, during this run and gun nerf war you'd have people trying to do crazy matrix style shit. While this looks cool (and, paradoxically hot) when portrayed by Carry-Anne Moss wearing skin tight pleather, tends to result in damage to beds, lamps, room-art or floors when attempted by a squad of nerf armed gamer-folk.

Final alternative, someone sniped a maid last year and put out an eye. Workers Comp lawsuit ensued. Nerf bans result.

Hmm. Maybe 3-4 hours if I'm just doing an air restrictor removal, revolver mod, and its a paintjob I've done before. It can go up from there depending on what I'm painting really. The red one I just posted took about 4 or 5 hours of paint decisions alone. Paint use is almost negligible. I've had the same paints for about 3 years now and not had to replace any yet. Spray paint however, I maybe do about 3-4 guns per can. The gloss seems to get better mileage than the primer and flat black though. As for blood, I'm really not sure. I've cut, stabbed, sliced, burnt, sanded and otherwise destroyed my hands so many times since I started working with models that I barely notice anymore. Not to mention pulling skin off to remove super glue, or sanding my fingerprints off one two of my fingers a few weeks ago.
