Well that certainly looks like bristol.

Wonder how the GOP's gonna handle this one?

It's just soda! Soda in a beer bottle....

Seriously? That doesn't even look like her!

I know. When I liked to the photos a few pages back, I commented that I didn't think they were actually pictures of Bristol.

    Wow, another one here:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/02/palins-church-may-have-sh_n_123205.html
Speaking before the Pentecostal church, Palin painted the current war in Iraq as a messianic affair in which the United States could act out the will of the Lord.
"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God," she exhorted the congregants. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."

Yeah, definitely crazy ol' Bush with a fun-pouch.
I think you're misinterpreting that quote. People who believe in God always want everything they do to be the will of God. It doesn't make America messianic, it's just America doing the right thing, and she's asking people to pray please God I hope this is the right thing to do don't let us fuck this up. I do not find that an unreasonable position, even though I am no fan of Pentecostals and Charismatics.

Really, it's not like she had a campaign ad standing on an altar saying she was ready to do the Lord's work.

Because that would be crossing the line, right?

It's like they're falling on every sword they've sharpened.

It's a lesson in how dangerous a power vacuum is for a political party. If we went back to 2005, you would see bandied about for the 08 slot names like Frist, Jeb, Santorum, and DeLay. But with the scandal-fueled corruption bringing down the major players in GOP, it opened a vacuum for control of the party. Had McCain gained control through acclamation, things would have blown over. But because he won basically by being the last man standing, his victory did nothing to contol the vacuum. The result is that the three wings of the GOP are trying to assert themselves in the McCain campaign, and because of that, they're making some really stupid mistakes, like the fundies forcing McCain to pick someone they wanted.

At this point I'd be surprised if they didn't bail on 60 Minutes this week too.

It really is remarkable how quickly this whole thing is going down in flames. All Obama has to do is hold the line between now and November and we're home free.
