PS3 display in classic black and white...

...and if I was watching some Chaplin it would be OK.

I finally decided to hook up the Sony component cables to my PS3, I have been swapping wires like crazy trying to figure it out, for a while there was a black and white display and no sound, eventually I got the sound, but the display is still B&W. I was using a system selector. Now I have my PS3 connected directly into the TV. All the cables colors match up, I have swapped the two red wires a couple of times, still no color.

Is it something in the PS3 I need to reset? Bad cables? I am watching Dexter season 2 on it and I want to see the blood!

I think playing games in B/W would be a cool novelty. But as I don't have a PS3 I have no idea what the issue is.

Does your composite still work OK? And have you changed your output settings to component in the PS3 system menu?

This might be the solution to your problem. That or the TV settings.

Try autodetecting the new cables. When you turn on your PS3, keep your finger on the power button until you hear a single beep (after the one signaling it's turning on). This should tell the PS3 to autodetect video settings based on your currently connected cables. This should do the trick.

I'll be charitable and say it was your spelling that made this a stupid post.

EDIT: For the OP, this was all I could find. Third paragraph down, looks like a loophole way to pull off the B&W

OK so I got it figured out, it was the TV that had to be set up I was just having a hard time finding it in the menu with the remote.

    Thanks for the help!
