Activision Officially Not Publishing Ghostbusters.

Found the old thread but the last post was 4 weeks ago. Activision Blizzard is officially no longer publishing this title, and Gamestop is calling to notify all preorder customers of the cancellation.

    Yeah we already knew four weeks ago?

    And we also know that they've already said that Ghostbusters is not canceled and will not be canceled but we don't know who will be publishing it yet?

    Sucks it got cancelled. At least they sent me that Ecto-1 license plate before it happened though.

    It's publishing got cancelled. :P

    There is this:

    "Sony Pictures states "this has presented [Sony Pictures Consumer Products] with an opportunity to reevaluate the game release marketing strategy to potentially coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original film in '09." Activision and Sony Pictures are looking for another publisher."

    09? I don't know, I wouldn't be surprised if it never got picked back up

    Is anyone actually worried about this?

    I'm more worried about it being a decent game. Because if this is as close to a Ghostbusters 3 as I'm gonna get, it better be DAMN good.

    Well I think the chances of the game not getting picked up is slim. However, IMO, the chances of a publisher picking up the game and then shoving it out the door before its truly finished and polished up is more likely.

    IIRC there was a recent article in PC Gamer that said the gameplay was pretty solid and it played out much like the two movies, so there probably isn't much to worry about on the content side of things.

    And from that PC Gamer preview I got the sense the game was nearly finished. They actually let them play the game, not just watch them play it.

    A nearly completed game does not just get dropped. Too much money has already been spent making it, they've got to at least try and get some of it back. This is on top of the fact that it's motherfucking Ghostbusters, a license with hugely exploitable marketing potential.

    Too bad this thread didn't get made earlier, because if you pre-ordered before September 1st you got a code for 10% off. :(

    The price sounds steep, but if you look into the cost/episode ratio it's actually a better deal than most season sets.

    As for the game I really do hope it gets another publisher, I was kind of looking forward to it and I can't say that about very many titles lately.

    I thought it was pretty much done? Probably would have held it up to coincide with the reunion anyway.

    What I'm more annoyed about was the cancellation of WiC:soviet assault

    Honestly I didn't have high hopes for the game after seeing the first batch of trailers/gameplay demonstrations, but after watching that I'm stoked
