I recall way back when I had all the infinite gauntlet comics (Before they were destroyed in "the incident") but I can't for the life of me remember what the gauntlet does. I just remember Adam Warlock and his buddies had the gems. That little short hairy guy kept his between his toes.

That's all I remember honestly. Oh and that the green girl was cute *eyebrow waggle*.

It essentially makes the wearer omnipotent. Each gem controls a different power; Time, Space, Power, Soul, Mind and Reality.

Don't they work off each other and make the other gems more powerful by being in the gauntlet?

I can't remember specifics, but I think the powers were:
Power - Almost limitless strength and endurance.
Time - No clue. Time stopping?
    Mind - Massive Telepathic/telekinetic abilities
Soul - This one's always so vague.
    Reality - Reality Altering.
    Space - Er...Again, no clue.

I think the Wiki article has the info.

They don't really work off eachother as far as I know. They can do essentialy anything described by thier name. They are only limited by the will and complexity of the person weilding them. For example - Thanos was able to kill off half of the entire Marvel U, send people spiraling through time, and imprison every major cosmic power. When Nebula got it, she just kinda stared at them and maybe would have destroyed the universe by accident.

    Space - Er...Again, no clue.

I think the Wiki article has the info.

    From the Infinity Gems article:

Space (purple) - Allows the user to exist in any location (or all); move any object anywhere throughout the universe and warp or rearrange space.

Mind (blue) - Allows the user to boost mental power and access the thoughts and dreams of other beings. Backed by the Power Gem, it is possible to access all minds in existence simultaneously.

Soul (green) - Arguably the most dangerous, as this gem is sentient and has a hunger for souls. Allows the user to steal, manipulate and alter souls, living or dead. Adam Warlock has been the sole custodian of this gem for many years, feeling responsible for many of the souls that he himself has taken. Ironically, the gem is the gateway to an idyllic, pocket-universe.

Reality (yellow) - Perhaps the most powerful, and most difficult to utilize. Allows the user to fulfill wishes - even if in direct contradiction with scientific laws. Can result in disaster if not careful as to the nature of the wish.

Time (orange/red) - Allows the user total mastery of time. Past, present and future are all accessible or visible through its power. With advanced training in the use of the gem, time can even be used as a weapon, trapping enemies or entire worlds in unending loops of time.

Power (red/pink) - Contains access to all power and energy that ever has or will exist, and backs the other gems and boosts their effects. Allows the user to duplicate almost any physical superhuman ability and become invincible and therefore unbeatable when using raw power alone.

There's also a seventh gem (Ego) but it's probably not canon

It's complicated. In a comic book kind of way. He's very very powerfull, but he has limits and he's not omniscent for... a reason... in the book. So he can be plotted against.

I'd recommend picking up the Infinity Gauntlet trade, it's fucking badass.

He didn't know how to fully use the power. Just because whoever has the infinty gauntlet has complete power doesn't mean they'll know how to use it. If you do not know how to control the gems then outside of the whole being invulnerable thing you won't have much power.

Because the only weakness Thanos has is is ego. [spoiler:bd3a407ed2]He was trying to impress Death by beating all the heros using only the Power Gem. After the Surfer almost stole the Gauntlet, he re-activated all the others. At this point, the MU gods appeared. Once Thanos defeated Eternity, he himself became the new Eternity and as such, became corpereal. Because he left his body, his Grandaughter was able to steal the Gauntlet from him.[/spoiler:bd3a407ed2]

EDIT'D for spoilers. Although I thought the statute of limitations had passed on that one.

You should probably spoiler that, in case someone wants to read it for the frst time.

And [spoiler:f6d650870c]it was really because Thanos subconsciously inserted flaws into his plans, because he knew he wasn't worthy of the power.[/spoiler:f6d650870c]

Maybe its the return of the Asgards to the Marvel universe and the real Thor. Not the simple associated with them, but could be just a generic bright light star thingy cover signifying rebirth of the gods.

Think about it! Being married to a hotty like Sue is nice and all but what if you could have twin sue's! *eyebrow waggle*

What's stopping him at this point really? He made a Hitler brained Clor, Reed clearly has the ability to stretch morality like he does his own body.

Isn't the book supposed to cover key points in Marvel History from the viewpoint of the Illuminati? I really hope that it doesn't really tie in to Civil War.

I'm sure Onslaught is the personification of Xavier's lost powers. And that Xavier will have those powers back at the end of it.

And the Illuminati series is not taking place in the current MU. It's all flashbacks. The Illuminati broke up before Civil War.
