about 20 bucks is a good idea. iirc, their prices are around the 12 buck mark, give or take, but i don't recall
    I doubt they'll take a cheque

    I was unimpressed with Dixie's.

First, their staff was not personable at all. They were, to put it simply, weird. And this is coming from a member of a group of people who are obsessed with drawing dicks in pictochat and saying "fuck" in inappropriate situations.

Second, the food was "meh." For a place that supposedly has hour long waits during the week, i expected a LOT better flavor. It was also a little expensive.

Third, "The Man," the sauce that was supposed to be "excruciating" and so hot that people who tried it got to put a pin on a map of where they're from because they're so special, was nothing special. Sure, it was spicy, spicier than standard sauces, but, not unbearable. I have honestly had Mexican food that was spicier than "The Man."

In the end, I'd say that you should probably avoid Dixie's.

Now, just because I thought that Dixie's sucked, doesn't mean that the day was terrible. On the contrary, I had a fantastic time hanging out with everyone. A highlight of the trip was wandering through Bellevue and randomly running into another PAXer. The story is an odd one, and probably deserves its own paragraph, so here we go.

Theros, Twinkie, Trooper, Accalon, MDB, Snickers and I were walking around looking for Ashridah, MetaverseNomad, Schrodinger, J0z1e, Oz and MeeOK, when all of a sudden this guy sitting on a bench sees us, jumps up, and starts charging at us full speed. We think that this is strange, and he comes to a halt in front of us and says, "Oh, I thought you were someone else." "Well, yes, we are." "Sorry about that." "'Tis okay." We start to walk away when someone, Twinkie or Accalon I think, says, "HE'S A PAXER HE HAS BUTTONS!" Those of us who had started to walk away whirl around, and MDB runs up and gives him a big hug. His name was Pyss, and we wound up talking with him for quite a while, and introduced him to the rest of the crew once they found us. We initiated him into the group with a game of I Can Break These Cuffs, told him about IRC and the forums, and went our separate ways. It was amazing, though, to randomly run into another PAXer like that. It just goes to show, one never knows what is going to happen day in and day out. :-)

After we wandered around Bellevue, went to the mall, and met up with Liger, we went to Ash's place and played Rock Band and GameCube. As will be custom for all future events, it was Ustreamed. It was also a total blast.

Big thanks to Ashridah for organizing everything and inviting us into his home. I love y'all so much! <3

Yeah, i'm really not sure wtf happened with Dixie's. The sauce is really supposed to take people out, i've seen it do it. Not particularly impressed, overall.

As for the staff, that's pretty much the way they are. It gets worse when they're busy. the owners do a better job, however. (better job of being short and curt with people, that is, they can sell it better)

I also thought the food was fairly.. meh? It was awesome hanging out with everybody, though. I really appreciate having a slightly bigger circle of friends. I've been going through some rough shit lately, and being around friendly people, who I can crack random jokes about internet memes and such with... is great. On the flip side, I'm still kinda going through withdrawal from my medication being stopped abruptly. Bleh. Thanks for the ride to/from folks! Can't wait for the next meet up!

They didn't do so well. :( The winning bidder wrote $600, but promised to write the check for $850. Sooooo, they went for the material cost. I was disappointed, considering their total combined value is $3600.

    HEY GUYS!!!!!!

    GUESS WHAT?

    bowling was AWSOME!!!!

    (happy birthday Eye_shuh)
the concert was also awesome! (i am guessing the dinner was fun also)

    so on the next activity

this weekend is coming up (complete with bruce cambell)
and the weekend of the 20th things are going down
the 27th is one of my sister's bday (and close to the holidays)
and the weekend of the 3rd is the trip to canada (yay, but i am not going.... but yay still!!!111!!!)
so january the 10 (1/10/08) will be awesome time why?
well we are thinking of the family fun center (i know it is kinda kiddy) but me and my friends have gone many of times and it is an easy way to just mess around and i always feel like clerk 2 when i am there :P
so i was looking at prices and

    http://www.fun-center.com/public/tukwila/groups_rates/

20 dollars for unlimited go-karts and lazer tag and extras if we have 15 or more people..... i think it could be fun, and i think it is a good day now all we need is the car rides and everything so yeah i think we should work with this?

also, tis' the season: TOY TRAINS!!!

=( I'm sorry. Why on EARTH didn't people bid more for it? They were totally 100% awesome! =( =(

If I had the dough, I would've bid... a lot. (Sadly, I don't have that kind of dinero =( ) I'm extremely surprised that it didn't get higher.

But $850, while not as much as we imagined, is still pretty good! I mean, $425 a piece... that's like two XBox 360's for each of them, which means four new systems for the kids! So while it's less than we thought, you still did great... and your effort is DECISIVELY not un-noticed. We all appreciate the great work you did Liger!

EDIT: Why didn't they go for live auction? Was there just not enough time to put them up for it? Or was it just for items from like major donors or something (sponsors, signed things from famous people etc...) in the live auction?

They missed a major opportunity for some extra dough by not putting it live. It would've been a hit! =( But at least you definitely made a sizeable contribution, even if it was less than expected.

I know!! I hinted at putting them up for live auction, but even items there didn't go for a lot. everyone's wallets were tighter this year. A custom gaming table that retails at $9500 only went for $4-5000 on the live auction. That REALLY surprised me; the thing was amazing!

Hmm, maybe next year. I need to think of something epic to make. Or maybe something small that will sell easier, like one or two of my scale maille ties...

So I know I mentioned JoCo will be in Seattle on January 23rd, but... I just realized that Disturbed is playing that same night, and at the Everett Events Center which is within walking distance of my house, so I might just have to go there. I thought I would let you guys know in case anybody else was interested. I've seen JoCo twice at PAX and will see him again, and haven't ever seen Disturbed (or Sevendust, they're playing with them).

Anyway, any other parties or anything coming up? I might be hosting one soon, but not sure yet...
