Okay, I'm going to finalise the 8th-9th November...sorry, gaz :( Majority vote and all that!

I've spoken to my friends, and that weekend is good for them, too. I asked if they minded meeting internet people and they said no, not at all. My housemate wanted to know if you were all polite, because she definitely isn't, and I said that I was sure you could put up with her. ;)

EDIT: I totally meant the 8th-9th November. That's the actual weekend. Duh.

So, folks, I am exchanging this green and pleasant (and very wet) land for sunnier climes on the 19th November.

Before that I would love to meet a few of you UK forumers in London. The last two meet-ups we had I feel were very successful and we had a fantastic time!

For anyone concerned about monetary costs, the meet-ups are usually kept fairly cheap. London is chock-full of free places to visit and for the majority of the afternoon/evening we find a pub to camp in and have a few pints. Last meet-up Rohaq organised a cheap hostel, too, which was a great option for those of us who wished to stay over until the next morning.

Who is interested? I'm hoping to ensnare a few of you who haven't attended the previous meet-ups (Silmaril!). Just about any weekend in October/early November would work well for me. Last year's murmurings never amounted to anything as we never fixed a precise date, so the sooner we can fix a date the better.

    Possible attendees:

    Me (definite)
    MikeRyu (definite)
    gazamc (maybe)
    Junpei (definite)
    Mojo_Jojo (strong maybe)
    Iskander (strong maybe)
    Bongi (strong maybe)
    Ascot (hopeful)
    Sporky (faint hopeful)
    That Dave Fella (definite)
    Silmaril (definite)

oooooooooohhh you're hanging out with guuuuuuuys i'm gonna tell aleeeeeeeeeeeeex

You, hand someone's sister to another man? I'd prefer it if you didn't think i was stupid, Sir Bogestrom.

or wait, does the "bogey will have your sister" thing only apply to male forumers?

    Also, cheap hotels!

With 3-4 people to a room for one night?

I've stayed in a couple of hotels in London and couldn't recommend any of them. But there are quite a few available for £100 or less a night (so £25 each), I'm specifically looking for hotels that can have 4 adults to a room) so if anyone could recommend one in particular that'd be great!

That, or hostels, of course. :)

I just remembered that the HSE recently gave our company a bollocking for making us work 12 hour shifts at weekends, so we will no longer be doing those. So I actually may be able to make this by taking the Sunday morning off.

    We shall see.

Also, Hotel-wise, IBIS hotels are fairly cheap for London and a quick google will bring up special offers and whatnot. I will check Train times for myself, as I will be living only 20-30 minutes train ride away from the center of London, if thats a feasible option there will be plenty of room for people to crash at my place.

If we are doing a two day thing it'll probably be cheaper for me to train home and come back the next day since I have to watch the pennies.

Tallus - London has worked well in the past. There are quite a few forumers who live in the south. I'll actually be back in Worthing (near Brighton) in a couple of weeks' time, and MikeRyu and a couple of other forumers actually live in and around London.

Plus, London has a lot of free museums and art galleries. We had a fun time at the Tate Modern at the first meet-up.

Also, one of my friends is really, really keen on going to London for my hen night (sigh).

I don't really want to do the whole usual stripper/clubbing deal (which she is pressing for) but I might combine the two, say, a hen night on the Friday/Saturday and a meet-up with you guys on a Saturday or Sunday, to save costs.

Hey, my friends might even come along too. And then at the very least, it'll be MikeRyu and a bunch of girls.

However - I'll be open to central. What are you thinking of?

I'll come for a hen night, but I'm not too sure about an SE++ gathering
