I'm sorry you had dickish profs D:

I blame it on the conservatism of the area. I mean the feminist class teacher said she couldn't comprehend not wearing a dress. The people here really suck at being progressive even when they want to be. They're like those white people who don't want to be racist but end up doing things like saying "That's so great for someone of your color to be doing!"

Connecting my computer to the screen via VGA will make the picture clearer right?
Eh? Eh? Or it not the s-video giving me a poor picture and just the screen itself? Because it is technically a television.

I am uniquely qualified to answer this. I tried S-video for a bit, and the picture sucked. After some experimentation this evening, I now use the blue screw-in thingie (VGA?) that usually connects to the monitor, and I'm making this post from a 27" TV.

VGA is essentially HDMI minus the audio.

N... no. VGA is the analog version of DVI, which is the visual part of HDMI.

Anyway, to the point of Quid's post. Given the choice of VGA and S-Video, VGA will produce a better picture.

    uh...DVI! I meant DVI. whoops.

Best Buy, assuming they even have that kind of cable, will want $200 and rad's right arm.

Whatever you do, do not buy cabling at retail. Buy them from Monoprice, I haven't seen cheaper cables anywhere on the 'net or in retail stores in over a year.

EDIT: I couldn't resist an example. 8' HDMI to HDMI cable from Best Buy vs. 10' HDMI to HDMI cable from Monoprice
