Huh, this is a foreign concept to me. "Promo packs" for my band. Since our goal is to get booked with my stepfather's band and open for them, we need to gather together material for our part of it. I didn't think I'd be getting into sales, but I guess that's what a publicist does for a real band.
You know how someone said if you disagree with Feral you're wrong? It's the same with The Cat and issues primarily concerning women (Abortion/sexism etc.) right?
Yes. It's kind of like a press kit thing. You didn't know that was part of the package?
You should also be dropping posters and making up cards and such.
Also a website. Or at least a myspace.

Dual: Mostly. Then again I agree with 99% of what Feral says and 99% of what The Cat says. My largest disagreement with Feral ever has been the Punishment thread, and the only flaws I've seen in The Cat's arguments are when she's fuming when she should be lifting her eyebrow skeptically.

Did all that other stuff for our first show, I knew that was coming. Next few shows are going to be private, though, so it's not a big deal. I'm thinking about enlisting the girls to take a video camera around the audience and getting reaction shots to make up a DVD for both bands.
I'll have to make do with Cadfael and Avengers 65.
Cadfael
Hell yes
I just read one of those books this week and I'm about to start in on another in which Cadfael kicks ass from the safety and sanctity of his Benedictine robes

This is very very common, so yeah, I assume it works.
Also check out various lists and such online. There are a lot of little ways to get noticed.
Also, I really hope you have someone who actually guages audience reactions.
I tend to analyze the crap out of things when I go clubbing, and I can tell you that there are a lot of details you can glean from observing how people react to songs. It gets very predictable.
Also: Dragging your groupies along is very effective at at least LOOKING like everyone loves your stuff. :P
Riding the coattailsof my stepfather's band, we get a pretty good turnout.
And I should really get them to look into band shirts for the Neils, that's not a bad idea. Their slogan is, "The world's most dangerous Neil Diamond tribute band."
EDIT: My favorite part is the ambiguous end whereupon Emily is obviously being a dick to start with, and is also "flaunting" her victory to the tune of two very upset people, juxtaposed with the inaugural entry on her blog ("After the Train Left the Station") where she expresses regret about how she used to accord herself as a player

yeah man. some photos, a demo disc, and like a one sheet of what the band sound is. That's at least what I've picked up from my cousin. He's been doing this stuff for years, though honestly never with all that much effort. Which is a shame.

Secret santee beware.
Killing each other using knives and forks
And calling each other names like dork
And I’m the only one who stops to see if he’s dead

Did you check.
(Note - I have not yet clicked on the abortion thread)
Man leave me out of it. Kill it with acid or something. I don't want to touch that nasty crap either.

Making money leads to improved morale and better equipment.
